As promised, the launch patch!!!

We fixed several bugs, most of them possible softlocks that may or may not occur during the game:

Bug that prevented progress on Map 2-5;

Bug that made parkour difficult on Map 2-4;

Dodge now has a 0.25 second cooldown before being able to roll again;

Improved respawn system for when the player falls down a hole (all stages);

Improved Elevator on stage 4-4;

Improved boss fights. These are just a few examples, among many other improvements.

Use the community to report bugs, the most serious ones can be fixed the same day!

Sorry it’s been a while since the last update. I know things have been quiet here, but trust me, work on the demo never stopped. The truth is, the game just needed way more polish before I could put it in your hands. Sometimes that means lots of bug-hunting and behind-the-scenes fixes that aren’t super exciting to show… but they make a huge difference.

One thing I am excited to show is the brand new intro cinematic!

0.5 Update Notes

The Forest

This major update includes the addition of the forest location. The newly designed tile set will mean the player will move around the forest slightly differently to the previous city variety. For all enemies, the player will travel between city and forest until future updates bring more locations.

Visual Effects

I've also been working on improving the overall visual style of Shale to have more variety in color and light. Here is a small example of some of the changes.

Other Content Additions

The Level Cap has now been increased to 50.

  • 1 new character, bag, car and weapon tint to unlock.

  • 1 new tape and note to discover.

  • 1 new car model and wheel type to unlock.

  • 1 new character body, head, bag and weapon model to unlock.

  • 3 new music tracks, enemies and bosses to encounter.

Gameplay Changes
  • First respawn orb now spawns 10 shale.

  • Second respawn orb now has small hazard that pushes the player away if touched.

  • Moved battery, can opener, pocket knife and bucket to common loot drop pool.

  • Added crowbar and bolt cutter to common loot pool.

  • Rare loot and rare crafted items now colored yellow and play sound effect when looted.

Improvements
  • Reduced animation glitches across all enemies.

  • Fixed error when items were added to traders.

  • Wind audio looping errors across maps caused audio cutting. This has been solved.

  • Fixed issue where UI scroll lists were missing items.

  • The last few notes and tapes sometimes were not dropping. This is fixed.

  • When generating skills, the cost now remains at 50.

  • Possessed were sometimes not spawning during combat. The issue was the spawning system sometimes miscalculating the spawn location. This is now solved.

  • Fixed bug when player constantly re-rolled on skill selection and missing cost minimum.

  • Solved issue where the airdrop thief was spawning notes and tapes physically inside the dropped container.

  • Fixed issue with consumed spawning in strange locations due to collision errors.

The home screen feature let's you choose a Guardian Maidbot for the home screen, while in the home screen you can interact with her and you get a special buff, so setting your Guardian Maidbot could pootentially help you in different situations once this feature has a few maids in it, for now we only got Ark Royal taking advantage of the fact she's been needing a rework for a while to actually feel like an Ultra.

This is a trial feature so let me know what you think and also which Maidbot(s) you want to see come first and which alternate outfits you would like them to use, they will be wearing different clothes yeah.
