We have just released a small hotfix that addresses a handful of issues that would arise from a player being ejected from a destroyed seat. This fixes known cases of the below:


  • Weapons aiming at own structure.
  • Repair and transform not behaving as expected.
  • Player getting stuck on a black screen after a respawn/teleport.
  • Player structure incorrectly being left behind and not despawned if the player left the server with it spawned in.
  • Issues with server stability once a structure got into this state which could lead to frequent crashes during gameplay and if a client attempted to join the server.

This fix will be arriving on console platforms within the next day or so!

We have just pushed a small hotfix that addresses a couple of issues we didn't quite manage to get into the update yesterday!

  • Fixed Damage Overlay appearing when other structures take damage.
  • Fixed sometimes respawning outside of seat after death in Deathmatch.
  • Fixed sometimes when you die in Deathmatch the kill incorrectly gets attributed to another player.
  • Fixed killing a member of your own team gives you points.
  • Fixed an issue with your own weapons deciding to auto aim on your own structure and repair getting really weird after certain events.
  • Fixed an issue where you should sometimes get stuck on a black screen after a respawn.

These fixes and the rest of the 2.1.1 Patch contents will be arriving on other platforms shortly!

Developer Notes

In regards to Flak Cannon tweaks our goal has been to:

  1. Make them more effective against very fast planes

  2. Make them more viable against aircrafts in general

  3. Do these things while avoiding making them overpowered in other situations

  4. More tweaking is bound to come - so we'd like to get more feedback

Known bugs that we are still working on:

  • DEATHMATCH - You can get points for killing your teammates.

  • DEATHMATCH - You can sometimes get double points for kills.

  • DEATHMATCH - You will sometime spawn outside of your vehicle, die immediately and get forced into the build zone (just press backspace to be taken back into the match)

Highlights
  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where terrain was not correctly being rendered on integrated GPUs when playing on Minimum preset.

  • GENERAL - Added a Power Core limit display to Servers info so you can see if a server has a limit set before joining it.

  • BLOCKS - Added a Trigger Radius visual to the Dispensable weapons included in the Packing Heat DLC.

  • BLOCKS - Flak Cannon Tweaks (these apply to both of them)

    • Projectile Speed changed from 200 > 250

    • Max Horizontal Aiming Angle changed from 15 > 30

    • Max Upwards Aiming Angle changed from 15 > 30

Changes
  • GENERAL - Updated the Server List view to by default show both Full and Not Full servers instead of hiding Full Servers.

  • GENERAL - Updated the Server List view to by default also show Modded Servers.

  • GENERAL - Filters selected on the Server List should now be stored across sessions.

  • GENERAL - Added a Clear Filters button for easily going back to the Default Server List filters.

  • DEATHMATCH - If you press Backspace in the Builder you will now be taken out of the Build Zone and respawned ready for combat.

  • DEATHMATCH - Added messaging to when you join a Deathmatch server with banned blocks and/or limited Complexity and spawn without a structure due to that.

  • DEATHMATCH - Added client messaging when the Host sets new Session Settings.

  • DEATHMATCH - You can now change Time of Day in Deathmatch!

  • BLOCKS - Mini Grenade Launcher Tweaks

    • Blast Radius changed from 4 > 3

    • Blast Damage changed from 300 > 200

  • BLOCKS - Rocket Launcher Tweaks

    • Max Horizontal Aiming Angle changed from 90 > 40

  • BLOCKS - Shotgun Tweaks

    • Max Horizontal Aiming Angle changed from 90 > 40

  • BLOCKS - Air to Surface Torpedo Tweaks

    • Changed the armed timer on the torpedo from 5s > 0.5s

    • Made the Torpedo never trigger on source structure unless it is by direct physical contact.

  • BLOCKS - Depth Charge Tweaks

    • Changed the armed timer on the Depth Charge from 5s > 0.5s

    • Changed the trigger delay on the Depth Charge from 2s > 0.25s

    • Gave the dispensed projectile a period where the source structure would not trigger the explosion until the blocks left and then re-enter the trigger radius which allows us to reduce the armed time.

  • BLOCKS - Mini Torpedo Launcher Tweaks

    • Expanded the amount of blocks the projectile could passthrough to try and avoid situations where a Torpedo would damage the structure it was fired from.

  • BLOCKS - Underwater Torpedo Tweaks

    • Expanded the amount of blocks the projectile could passthrough to try and avoid situations where a Torpedo would damage the structure it was fired from.

  • BLOCKS - The projectile from the Rocket Launcher now correctly inherits the Primary and Secondary color set on the block.

  • BLOCKS - The projectile from the Underwater Torpedo now correctly inherits the Primary colour set on the block.

  •  

  • BLOCKS - Updated the VFX when firing the old Dispensable blocks.

  • BLOCKS - Added a new Ammo UI for the Flamethrower and fixed it so it more accurately displays available ammo.

  • BLOCKS - Added a smoke trail effect to the Tank Cannon projectile for better visibility.

  • BLOCKS - Updated the Description text for the new Dispensable blocks added with the Packing Heat DLC to highlight the amount of items you can dispense.

 

Fixes
  • GENERAL - Fixed a Single Player disconnect that would occur in specific cases.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug that would lead to an Oh No when structures with specific weld group set ups, commonly seen in Mechs for example, got destroyed in specific ways.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where transforming between damaged structures could sometimes lead to floating blocks.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where pressing Repair when in water would move the structure upwards towards the water surface.

  • GENERAL - Added a five second request cooldown when changing filters on the Server List.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug in the Server List where toggling Hide Full Servers would not also auto refresh.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where a block with Input bound to 1, 2, 3 or 4 would also get activated when changing to a Build Slot.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where a player would get ejected from a seat if they were transforming between structures quickly.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where the player would start moving upwards after respawning in specific circumstances.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where you could gradually move structures by spamming repair.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where transforming away from a structure with broken weapons or wheels and then back again would incorrectly restore the broken blocks.

  • GENERAL - Fixed missing Localisation on the new Weapon Sub Categories.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug where you could get stuck on a black screen if starting a respawn and then opening the Map right before it happens.

  • GENERAL - Fixed searching for two words separated with a space not correctly showing results in the Server List.

  • GENERAL - Fixed a bug in the Power Core UI in bottom left where it would look incorrect with 3+ digits.

 

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where an Undo operation would incorrectly be available after having a structure outside of Build Slots, transforming into a Build Slot structure and then navigating back into out of Build Slots. If you used undo and redo at this stage you would get locked in the Builder.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where saving an existing structure would sometimes only allow you to save it as a new Blueprint.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where the block preview images in the inventory would stretch.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where we were using development terminology in the text displayed when trying to apply Block Skins to a block that doesn’t have a Skin.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where you could not navigate into a Blueprint Folder when using a Controller on Steam.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug that could cause blocks to get stuck in a Rotate state if you spammed rotate and exited Builder at just the right time.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where the selection highlight on a block would blink green when moving over a block where no connection was possible.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a UI bug where a Block Skin would incorrectly show as selected after viewing the DLC upsell and then dismissing it.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where the player would not correctly be taken into Builder in specific cases.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where a structure would be all white the first time you load that Build Slot in a session and would gain the correct colours once it was done being spawned.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug with the camera not correctly rotating around the offset point.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where the Block Info Tooltip would not correctly appear if mousing over the Skins icon.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug where the Menu button in top right did not have a selection highlight or tooltip.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug which could lead to an Oh No when Undo’ing and Redo’ing in specific cases.

 

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug where the fired Torpedos from the Mini Torpedo Launcher would immediately reappear on the weapon despite them not having actually reloaded yet.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug with the Firework block smoke visuals being a very obvious billboard.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug with the Smart Cannon Skin that meant you could not correctly apply Decals to it.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug with the dispensed Landmines falling through terrain if dropped immediately above it.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug with the dispensed Landmines where it could incorrectly become static before intended.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed alignment issues with the Flak Cannon.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed missing audio effects from both Energy Shield blocks.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug where Sea Mines dispensed very close to each other would explode.

 

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed various spawn points having spawns that could place a player inside a nearby object.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where button hints in the top left would not be displayed when late joining a server or after a respawn.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where a Client could visually move the session settings sliders (though the changes were not applied).

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where the Reset to Default buttons in Session Settings were not correctly greyed out for clients.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed numerous issues with navigation with Controller around the Session Settings UI.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where the Recall stackable message would very briefly appear when leaving the Build Zone and respawning.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where Killfeed messages that appeared whilst in the Builder would wait until the player left the Builder and then display all at once.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where the Killstreak Icon could get squished if the player had a really long name.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where if you were next to a Repair Token spawn and then used a Repair Token, you could not pick up that Repair Token without first leaving the pick up trigger and re-entering it.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Removed a silly Rock that was placed next to the Helipad.

  • GREAT CARRIER REEF (DEATHMATCH) - Fixed a bug where the last kill of a round would not be shown in the Killfeed.

 

  • PIONEERS - Fixed text alignment issues with crafting costs on blocks that required three different resources.

  • PIONEERS - Fixed an Ancient Blueprint in Pioneers that could no longer be spawned in due to the previous increase in Power Core cost of the Mini Gun.

 

  • AIRBORNE - Fixed a bug where the Mines dropped by the Speeder in Satellite Desert would not correctly deal damage to the player.

  • AIRBORNE - Fixed a multiplayer bug where if you continued a save in which you started the final mission in Single Player it could not correctly be completed as a Multiplayer Client.

 

  • STRANDED - Fixed a bug with the Stranded Intro and Outro videos not playing correctly on Xbox One.

 

  • HIGH SEAS - Fixed a bug with the water splashes from the top of large waves not being enabled.

When we did PvP Part 1 back in December we purposely called it “Part 1” as a way to force ourselves to make another one. The PvP Community in Trailmakers is big and contributes to keeping the game alive, so an aiming servo and a new map wasn’t quite gonna cut it.

So today we are releasing Deathmatch, Flak Cannons, and two new underwater weapons for everyone. For those thirsty for more, consider buying Packing Heat for more weapons or Frontline for incredible new skins and sounds. Buying those DLCs actively funds the development of Trailmakers!

Thank you all so much for the hype you have shown for this update as we have been developing it. It has ignited our ambition to maaaaybe do a third one? Anyways, that’s for the future!

  • PIONEERS - Fixed a bug with the light from the BOTNAK Shields around BOTNAK Camps not correctly being removed when the Shield was destroyed.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a bug in the Blueprint History view where the Blueprint Preview would be a white square if exiting and entering the Builder with this being the open panel.

  • BUILDER - Fixed an Oh No that could occur if another player was sat in a structure owned by another player, that was in a Build Slot, and then the owner moved away from the structure and used the Transform shortcut to get their structure back.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a Controller bug where you would lose selection on selected blocks but not correctly exit the Colour Picker, Configurator or Decals menu when clicking an empty space in the Build Context.

  • BUILDER - Fixed a Controller bug where if using a Shortcut to navigate into UI elements it would deselect any selected blocks.

 

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug where the light on the Bomb Bay would not correctly light up green after leaving Builder and respawning.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug where the Ammo UI on the Bomb Bay would remain red when it was reloaded and ready to use again.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed a bug where crosshairs from a weapon would not correctly be restored after repair if it was broken off a structure without it being fired.

  • BLOCKS - Fixed the Simple Ladder having a Build Bounds that was larger than the Block.

 

  • AIRBORNE - Fixed a bug where Repair Tokens would incorrectly be immediately refreshed after use in Campaign.

  • DANGER ZONE - Fixed a bug which would cause an Oh No when loading into Danger Zone in cases where the playtime stored in the save game was more than a thousand hours.

  • DETHRONE - Fixed a bug with Controller where navigation could be moved into the Builder at the very start of the game which would prevent you from dismissing the start UI.

The 4th edition of Devs vs. Creators went down on June 12, this time in the brand new Deathmatch gamemode.

Being up 3-1, Yzuei shockingly offered an all-for-nothing in the final round which the Devs then won.
Soooo….. Devs win? But not really. Devs actually got their butts kicked. But it was fun!

The criticism of the amount of DLCs we put out has not gone unnoticed. 

Fact of the matter is that no one at Flashbulb is lining their pockets with the revenue from these DLCs.
We are not doing it to buy mansions and private jets. We are doing DLCs because otherwise the studio can’t operate anymore. We are doing it to fund Trailmakers into the future so we can continue working on it and provide updates. We hope you find the pricings fair!

Also, we split the DLC into two this time to give you more of a choice to buy exactly what you want for less without having to buy one big DLC when you only want half the content.

Steam Cloud Support
Today we are rolling out Steam Cloud Support:
  • We are cloud saving save games, transformation slots and blueprints.
  • We support up to 10,000 files and up to 1500MB, whichever comes first.
  • If you exceed any of these numbers, we cannot guarantee which files will be cloud saved, but none of your files should be deleted.
  • Cloud syncing 10,000 blueprints took ~20 minutes the first time I closed the game, but is instantaneous after that.
  • If you add blueprints to the blueprints folder while not in-game, they will not be sync'd until you start and then exit the game, due to how Steam Cloud save works.
  • We are "only" syncing the real save location, meaning that if your game uses the backup location in the installation folder, those will not be cloud saved.
