Sins of a Solar Empire®: Rebellion - Yarlen

Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are pleased to announce the release of version 1.86 of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion today. Today's update further optimizes the CPU and AI systems, while including several fixes for the Outlaw Sectors DLC.

Change Log
  • Advent Reanimation and any other form of cloning will no longer clone Militia units.
  • Truce Amongst Rogues is now with just the pirates - not rebels, neutrals or militia.
  • Modders can now make use of the new ResearchModifierTypes "FriendlyWithPirates" and "FriendlyWithRebelNeutrals" in addition to the original "FriendlyWithPiratesRebelNeutrals".
  • Fixed smuggling data showing up when looking at crystal or metal tooltips. Smuggling only affects credits.
  • NPC and Militia carriers now build their strikecraft squadrons.
  • Militia will now spawn carriers.
  • Militia no longer receive research benefits that are tied to weaponclass. This solves the problem of races who don't use the militia ship classes being at a research disadvantage.
  • Mod users no longer need to move their mods to a new mod folder if the executable version changed unless the new game version breaks the previous version's mods. (e.g. 1.85 mods can stay in the Mods-Rebellion v1.85 folder even though this is game version 1.86).
  • CPU optimizations in large battle situations, late game situations and mass militia situations.
  • Reduced memory usage (particularly during large battles).
  • Reduced memory fragmentation (particularly during large battles).
  • AI CPU and memory optimizations.

Outlaw Sectors DLC is here with a new gameplay option and lots of new maps

Challenge yourself with new strategies and unique setups with the new “Outlaw Sectors” gameplay option and brand new maps for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. The variety of map sizes and designs will let you enjoy any kind of match you want, from intimate 1v1 duels all the way to epic 10-player brawls.

Gameplay Options

The lawless fringe is increasingly hostile, but for those with a criminal mind it's also rich with new opportunities.

Smuggling Specialization: Choose this planetary development to grab a cut of everyone's trade income - but at a cost. The increased corruption from this black market activity will reduce that planet's tax income.

Rampant Militias: Autonomous planetary militias will grow, raid nearby systems, and repopulate over time. Use them to help defend your worlds, or coordinate your attacks with their strikes for maximum impact.

Pirate Turf: Vicious when in their home sector, pirates can now raid multiple players simultaneously, drastically changing the art of the bidding war. And, just to make sure they are fully motivated to do what they do best, all credits spent on bounties will receive an automatic bonus.

Included Maps
Power Struggle - Contest the distant resource fields and nearby planets before striking at the enemy’s homeworld.
Slim Pickings - Claim what remains among the war-torn stars and seize what you can from the other empires.
Crossfire - Take your enemy’s homeworlds and coordinate your assault with your ally in order to win.
High Stakes - Build a powerful fleet and seize the resource rich planets from enemy militia.
Ironheart - Flanked by an enemy on each side, you must prioritize your resources carefully to achieve victory.
Titans of Cimtar - Secure your planet from among the 8 gas giants dominating the map, then make war upon your neighbors.
Death Spiral - The system is falling into a black hole and your enemies aren’t about to let you leave without a fight.
Dogfight - Lead your allies into glorious battle amongst the stars in this huge map.
Buzzsaw - Make one mistake and you may lose more than you bargained for in this spiral galaxy that leaves no room for error.
Rising Empires - Secure your star system amidst the crushed local resistance and set your sights on your rivals’ territories.
Desolation - Claim what little the Vasari have left behind and forge what remains of the worlds in the massive cluster of stars into a force capable of conquest.

Outlaw Sectors DLC is now available on Steam or through Stardock.

Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are pleased to announce the final release of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion v1.82 today. This latest version addresses balance issues in the Stellar Phenomena DLC.

Changes include:

Stellar Phenomena DLC
  • Halved asteroidCounts on Graveyard and DenseDebris templates in AsteroidDef to improve performance.
  • Updated GalaxyScenarioDef uncolonizable gravity wells w/resources to be guarded by Pirates, not neutral factions.
  • Removed defenders from Antimatter Fountain.
  • Changed ShatteredMoon defender template from LocalMilitiaWeak to LocalMilitiaWeakUncolonizable.
  • Updated Allegiance progression in Gameplay.Constants on the later stages to drop by .05 on levels 7-8. This should help prevent very distant planets from instantly going neutral from Open Rebellion.
  • Added potential for 0-2 (from 0) neutral crystal extractors at Comets.
  • Increased minimum neutral crystal extractor count to 2 (from 1) at Ice Fields.
  • Increased minimum neutral metal/crystal extractor count to 1 (from 0) at Radiation Storms.
  • Increased minimum neutral metal extractor count to 1 (from 0) at Shattered Moon.
  • Increased random event allegiance check from 240 to 600 seconds. This should help prevent distant colonies from succumbing to Open Rebellion before the player can do anything about it.
  • Reduced minimum allegiance threshold for random events from 30% to 15%.
  • Increased max respawn count on Magnetic Storm from 4 to 9.
  • Increased max respawn count on Plasma Storm from 4 to 9.
  • Reduced trigger weight on Partisans event from 25% to 10%.
  • Reduced trigger weight on Open Rebellion event from 10% to 5%.
  • Reduced fleet point range on Open Rebellion event from 150/350 to 100/250.
  • Increased volume on random event warning sound by 3db.
  • Dramatically shortened Pulsar particle so that it doesn't touch other gravity wells and made the tails less sharp.
  • Removed Fighters from target list on Gas Giant's pre-explode buff since they can never lose it; will still take damage from nearby explosions.
  • Added new Commodity Boom random event: one random planet (including neutrals) may now undergo a resource boom where extractor and refinery rates are increased by 30% for 5 minutes. Should never appear on: Dead Asteroids, Pirate Bases, Antimatter Fountains, Magnetic Clouds or Wormholes. (Thanks to Goafan for the suggestion!)

Forbidden Worlds DLC
  • Removed 'Ferrus' from PlanetRandomUncolonizable in GalaxyScenarioDefs.
  • Removed 'FerrusFair' from PlanetRandomUncolonizableFair in GalaxyScenarioDefs.
  • Added new planet bonuses to GalaxyScenarioDefs (thanks Goafan!).
  • Changed Rusted Core planet bonus to no longer require points in exploration.

AI
  • Revised AI bonus income rates to try and scale less drastically past Normal.

Misc.
  • Updated SDActivate.exe so folks shouldn't need to open up IE if it fails on new installs.
