Hi Creators!

You can now enter free-cam in Creative Mode to take clean, high-quality screenshots of your creatures. Fly around the scene, find the perfect angle, and capture your creations. The default keybind is Ctrl+P, but this can be rebound in the settings menu.

Also in this update:
  • XP is now awarded for defeating NPCs.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements, including issues with footsteps, lighting, NPC behaviour, death messages, the tutorial, and more.

Small Update for the Demo!

Thanks to all your feedback on the demo, I've been able to make a few changes that are now live on Steam! This update mainly focuses on optimization, bug fixes, smoother progression, some UI polish, and a bit of extra juiciness added to the game feel!

After the intense rush leading up to the Steam Next Fest — wearing all the hats of developer, artist, QA, marketing, bizdev, and community manager all at once — I’m going to take a well-earned break as summer rolls in. So I’ll be unavailable from July 23 to 29.

Beyond the joy of making a game, there are a lot of tasks that require business and marketing skills — things like social media, answering emails, QA — and all of that takes time away from actual development. That’s why I’m currently looking for a publishing partner who could help take over those non-production tasks.

Of course, I still want to keep chatting with you directly, sharing colorful miner doodles and writing these little dev messages myself. But to keep moving forward and take Drill To Hell as far as it can go, I also need to reach a wider audience and ensure the project's commercial stability — and maybe even afford some delicious home-cooked meals all year round! That’s why I’m searching for the right publisher — one that understands the identity of Drill To Hell, and can help it reach more players.

And who knows… maybe that could also help fund a future project on Steam someday?

Game Features:
  • Added basic tutorials with mouse animations.

  • You can now access a block's encyclopedia entry by simply holding Shift and hovering over it.

  • Minecarts can now be locked/unlocked outside of the Garage tab.

  • All blocks that react to water now interact with it from all sides, not just the top (e.g. clay blocks).

  • The Encyclopedia tab is now cheaper, while the Progression tab costs more.

Interface Updates:
  • You can now hide/show the top, bottom, left, and right interface tabs. They can be revealed by moving your mouse to the edges of the screen.

  • New animation when hiring miners.

  • More detailed miner stats have been added to item descriptions.

  • Various other item descriptions have been revised for clarity.

Juiciness (Polish):
  • Enhanced visual and sound effects when getting bonuses from piggy banks or coffee bags.

  • Added new sound effects:

  • Flowers that growing can't be destroyed by miners.

Optimization:
  • Some textures are now grouped into atlas.png for better performance.

  • The loading screen now properly waits for resources to load and won't freeze after the miner animation ends.

  • Fixed the Play button not updating when switching languages.

  • Fixed the Detonate button not displaying the block falling animation.

  • Fixed frustrating drag-and-drop behavior with minecart items.

  • Increased main menu music volume, which was too low.

Demining - Karba


Sectors
Well Excavation
  • Partially reworked the upper parts of the sector.
  • A new well can now be dug up and be added as an addition to the camp for that save, similarly to the Lab Hatch in the Lowlands.
  • To gain access to the well interior, a new puzzle has been implemented across the Well Excavation-sector that has to be solved.
New Area - Inside The Well
  • A new type of randomized environment that changes on a daily basis, accessible through the new well.
  • Contains a new unique enemy designed to thrive in this specific environment.
  • The water artifact can now be found here depending on which layout you get.
  • Like in ruins or other underground areas, treasures can also be found here.

    Enemies
    (New) Thing In The Well
  • Is always active inside the new well-area.
  • Can only engage with/or hurt players that are in water.
  • Can occasionally appear in any water mass in the overworld.


    Player/Characters
      New Feature - Medic
      • A new med-kit stand has been added to the camp. By default, one med kit can be picked up.
      • A deminer who is carrying a med kit gets a medic-backpack attached to their character model.
      • Each Med-Kit contains two charges, and can be used through the inventory. When a charge is used, all deminers that are standing close to the medic regains a moderate amount of health and has all of their health-related negative debuffs removed if any.
      • An additional Med Kit can be permanently added to the camp through the upgrade section of the market, allowing for two medics.


        Misc
      • Added new VFX and SFX when treading water in the world.
      • Fixed bug where no footsteps could be heard when walking backwards.
      • Fixed a bug where you spam jump and crouch to bypass movement impairing effects caused
        by water.
      Mines
        Trap Cables
      • Optimized mines with the trap cable mechanic to have a slightly bigger window to be safely cut. (If you accidentally cut a cable that is marked by a tiny margin, you may still make it basically).
      • Fixed a bug where the trap cable mechanic would sometimes get out of sync after solving a maze in the same mine.
      Sound
        Ambience
      • Fixed noticeable clipping in some ambiance tracks that loop around.
      • Fixed unwanted noise in the lightning storm ambiance track.
      UI
        Wildlife Guide
      • Soft-Reworked the Wildlife Guide presentation, and added a way to quickly navigate to an entity on the left-hand side. As the roster of threats grows, this should make it less tedious to navigate to the information you want.
      • Changed several names and descriptions of some entries, to better suit new lore.

      Ruins
        Misc
      • Fixed gaps that could sometimes appear in ceilings.
      Tutorial
      • Fixed a bug where batteries could be used to progress the tutorial regardless of which step was active.
      • Added a Med Kit to the item-usage section.
      Weather
      • Made rain / storms more common. Because they breed chaos, and adds incentive to stay inside of ruins for longer. I like the risk assessment it adds to the game.
      Achievements
      • Added a new achievement for entering the well for the first time.

    Benchmarks is our fully reimagined Aim Assessment tool and Ranking System! This differs from our previous Aimlabs Ranked Seasons, as players can now measure their skills across three separate tiers: Entry, Intermediate, and Elite.

    It's never been easier to get a clear picture of your aim and mouse control!

    • Make sure Aimlabs is up to date

    • Click on the Play Button on the navigation bar, and then click on the Benchmarks

    • Click on Challenges and press the Play icon on the task of your choice

    It's a track specifically for level 18 "One Minute" and is exactly a minute long - it gets more and more intense the closer you get to the bomb exploding!

    The Isle of Elanor - CommonWombatGames
    - Added save file compatibility system. The latest build, 0.1.39, is compatible with save files from game versions from 0.1.38 and above. So, players will have less worry about downloading the latest builds, or having to use beta builds to maintain save file compatibility.

    Major features are being added all the time (skill systems, player buildable buildings, etc), so there will be builds in the future that will break save files, but now, at least, every build doesn't break save files.

    - Added CTRL clicking on a domesticated animal to show affection, or to pet, the animal. Hold down the CTRL key and click to show affection to an animal.
    - Added ALT clicking on a domesticated animal to pick up the animal. Hold down the ALT key and click to pick up an animal.
    - The control panel in the Windmill can be used to turn Wheat into Wheat Flour.
