First update of the 2025 calendar year! Running multiple content mods in lobbies will now be better than ever! Here's what's in the update:

Content Mods in lobbies

Previously, content mod dependencies could only be loaded in lobbies if the parent Map or Game mode called for them. Today, that changes with the ability to load content mods lobbies decoupled from maps or game modes. You can load up to 10 content mods at a time now and mix your own sets of weapon packs or gameplay modifications.


Plaza Central

All scheduled trains have been canceled due to violent outbreaks in this modernized plaza. The public square's German chief architect, Patrick Würm, is quite displeased to see his most renowned work used for a military skirmish. The building was not designed for this purpose.

Additional Cosmetics

The store is stocked with new cosmetics! We've added a Deathbloom collection and introduced an animated 8-bit pixel bundle. You'll also find standalone Rose, Alien, Comic-pop cosmetics, and a Foxtrot charm.

Minor Weapon Balance Update
Based on feedback from the community, we've made adjustments to the weapon balance to give more attention to weapons that are typically overlooked during the Search and Destroy purchase phase. Please see the patch notes below for more details.

Some minor fixes for the last update. Based on feedback from community server owners we have added an option to force mandatory VOIP capture for replays to help with moderation. The server information tab in the community server browser will disclose if VOIP capture is forced on a server.

Hey Folks!

We're bringing 2024 to a close with a December update. This comes with an official Shack map pack, new cosmetics system, and a completely overhauled Pavlov TV.

Weapon Cosmetics


We have finally brought a cosmetics system to Pavlov. These cosmetics are purchased through Jared Coins. Jared coin packs can be purchased through the Steam store page for Pavlov. Once you have purchased a coin pack, you can then navigate to the customize button in the main menu to purchase new cosmetics, or manage your inventory of your owned cosmetics.

Knife cosmetics are custom meshes with many of them having custom kill notification sounds!

New Maps


We have brought over 6 Pavlov Shack maps to the official map selection for Steam
and PSVR2 versions of Pavlov. This also includes the newest community favorite edition, Oilrig!

Pavlov TV


We have overhauled Pavlov TV with many new features. Working closely with select community members to bring desired features that both the competitive community and modding community have been looking for! The user interface has been completely reworked to fit the current design language of Pavlov.

We have also expanded Pavlov TV's scope beyond streaming competitive matches, adding new content creation and film-making features.

Pavlov TV is now it's own stand alone app that can be downloaded for free on Steam. However, we have retained the existing launch parameters to allow you to run Pavlov TV the same way you have before. You do not need a separate installation of Pavlov TV if you already have the Full VR version installed.

Message of the Day
A message of the day has been added to pop up in the main menu on launch. Once it is dismissed, it will no longer pop up again unless a new MOTD has gone live. This will allow us to highlight community events and mods as well as any free cosmetic events or sale discounts.

Community Server API Keys
If you are not a community server host you can skip this section. In order to prevent abuse, we have re-implemented our server API key system. Server hosts will need to jump in game to grab a code in-game from the General tab in the Settings menu. There is a button to Generate server code button that will create a 6 character code you need to use on https://api-key.vankrupt.net/ to generate the full server API key.

Abuse of Code of Conduct or Terms of Service may result in a ban. If you are a regular player you should not provide this key to a server host under any circumstance as your account will be responsible for the conduct of the server.

The Hide

The Hide Monster can contest or revert the capture of any objective by standing in the capture zone. Once all objectives are captured, the monster will take damage over time.
-Added Gas Grenade (Id: gas). Gas grenades replace smoke grenades in The Hide, they last for 30 seconds and deal damage-over-time while inside the cloud

Pavlov - Pavlove
Update: Meta has since resolved the issue, please make sure you're on the most up to date version of the Meta software.


Recently Meta pushed an update for their PC client that has broken compatibility with some OpenXR titles including Pavlov. The game will launch in flat screen, but not in the headset. We are in communication with Meta in resolving this issue.

There are some methods players can use to downgrade their versions, but we cannot distribute this software ourselves nor can we recommend downloading older clients from an unverified source.

If you are using a Quest there are alternative streaming methods you can use such as Steam Link, Virtual Desktop, or ALVR. This will require you to change your OpenXR runtime to SteamVR instead of Meta/Oculus.

We appreciate your patience while we work with Meta on resolving this ASAP with an official update for their software.

Hey folks, we have a minor update.

Modkit

We’re now adding plugin/source-sharing support. If you are a modder who requires anyone adopting your mod to place actors, for example, now they can be shared via mod.io. Source sharing will make collaboration with complex projects even more streamlined between members of a modding group.

Additionally, we have set up content mods to use other content mods as dependencies. This will help when modding frameworks need to be correctly added. You can chain multiple dependencies together now.

Community server replays

Community servers can now save replays of matches and play them back on Pavov TV. If you try to playback a replay with Mod dependencies on Pavlov TV, they will automatically download from Mod.io.

This update has been coming for a long time! Let's get started on what's included in this update.

Autumn

War is brought to Scotland's doorstep in the most peculiar of cities. Autumn is loosely based on the capital city of Edinburgh. The citizens quickly evacuated as the insurgent forces descended into the town square to set up a base. The eerie feeling of an empty major city without its home residents provides a haunting reminder of the cost of war.

Carnival

Carnival is an abandoned amusement park in Macedonia. The company hired thrill ride partners from North America to expand quickly, but due to the licensing structure of these partnerships and poor financial planning, the park was doomed to return to nature. The park eventually folded to become an occupied zone for a military forward operating base for special forces.

Modkit
We have now shipped the newest iteration of our modkit with many new features that we’re particularly excited about.

We created the new modkit to give the modding community even more control and make collaboration between multiple authors easier and more straightforward. This is done through the mod.io dependencies feature.

Content mods are a form of dependencies we have set up to automatically download if a custom game mode, map, or community server calls for them. You cannot run content mods directly in a lobby, but if you have a custom game mode that calls these mods, you can hot-load them in lobbies through this method.

This means cross-functional mods from different authors run at the same time. Authors no longer need to share their mods by creating plug-ins or zipping up project files and manually exporting/importing them back into the engine. Someone made a jump mod, and you want to use it? Add it as a dependency, and you're done.

There is no limit to the number of dependencies you can have, but we recommend taking care not to overload your server or content with dependencies. Please read our guide on Mod.io for more information on how dependencies work.

Separating content mods from maps also has another added benefit. If you place all of your map assets into a content mod and create a map that calls the content dependency, you can now compile your map and upload it without uploading your assets all over again. This can make lighting builds and map adjustments much more rapid.

Dependencies aren't the only thing we have added; custom items and weapons can now be added to the buy menu. We have also exposed more variables to the game logic to open the game up to modders and content creators. See the full patch notes below for details.

We have been working with prominent and talented mod developers in a closed beta to add enhancements and features to the modkit that are needed the most. The result of this has cultivated content that is ready to go right out of the gate. A great example of this is VoidVibrato's full conversion Sigma Fury Mod:

TTT

A new stealth device has been added to TTT. We have also added other helpful enhancements, such as the role information screen, which allows you to glance at all the available roles and their goals quickly. Shooting a held riot shield with a Newton launcher will force the player to drop it.

Status of PS5 and Mods
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we could not work out a viable pipeline for delivering mods to PS5. Vankrupt Games is no longer pursuing UGC on the PSVR2.

Next Update: Weapon Cosmetics
We intended for this update to include our new weapon cosmetics system. We decided to delay the feature until it's ready to get this update out sooner rather than later, as all the backend work is taking longer than expected.

Pavlov - Junt
Pavlov Shack has finally shipped to the Meta Quest store! This is going to benefit the PC version in the next release due to our continued work towards optimizing the game. We have also addressed other quality of life enhancements, such as improving voice chat.

That’s not all; while we were working on delivering the shack build with the engineering team, our art team spent the better part of 2023 crafting some of the most detailed maps we have created to date! Both of these maps have been created for the SnD community and are designed with Search and Destroy, as many of our other maps.

New maps

Autumn is set in a Scottish town, once a bustling hub of maritime commerce, but now serves as a main town square for its local residents. Despite the decline of its maritime glory, it retained its charm, its spirit unyielding. Fall leaves littering the streets with golden shafts of light piercing the windows.


Carnival is an abandoned eastern European amusement park that is far away from its joyful days of delighting guests with thrills and joy. Dilapidated buildings are littered with vandalism from the new generation of graffiti artists who discovered a massive canvas ripe for tagging.

They still aren’t quite ready yet however, there are still some areas that need to be fully polished, as well as optimization passes to merge assets down, QA test, and locate bugs before we can deliver this update to the players.

Update timing
We expect the next update to be early next year.

Modkit
What's even more exciting is the new modkit 3.0 functionality that will make custom content much better for both the creators trying to ship content, as well as the players who will benefit from the mod cross pollination with the new dependency system.

We are also going to raise the community server player cap to help other custom mods that utilize large landscapes with dispersed players flourish, such as Ma7cus’s popular Resurgence mod.

This update brings quite a number of fixes and enhancements to Pavlov. We have addressed the issues with the audio and audio devices not being recognized. We have also fixed quite a number of unique issues with controllers due to the switch to OpenXR input. Night maps can now be played in SnD and Deathmatch games modes with the addition of the flashlight in the buy menu.

Unreal Engine 5 + OpenXR
Pavlov has moved to Unreal Engine 5.1 and the OpenXR input standard. The physics system has additionally changed to Chaos. The benefits of upgrading the engine will become more apparent as the modders embrace better workflows and new engine features to make development much more enjoyable.

Lobby overhaul & Crossplay with Playstation VR2

You can now play the standard maps and game modes with PS5 players via crossplay. No downgrades were necessary! Additionally, we overhauled the lobby and server browser experience to make more information accessible.

Maps

Sand has been completely overhauled and brought up to our current standards. The layout and theme is identical in keeping the spirit of the original. We have also added new “massacre” or night versions of Datacenter, Siberia, and Container Yard for the horror-sided game modes such as Zombies, Hide, and Infection.

New characters

We now have a full ten-character roster for modern game modes. This has been something that has been a long time coming but quite a time-consuming effort to get here. Players will be randomly assigned a skin at the start of a match for the modern game modes.

Retiring Steam Workshop and In-Game Mod Browser
As a result of upgrading the engine for Pavlov, all previously made content on the older version of Pavlov has been made incompatible. We used this opportunity to change our CDN for custom maps and mods.

With that, we have vastly improved the in-game mod browser. New sorting categories, search, details panel, update, and uninstall map allow you to manage your downloaded content without leaving the game. Multiple mods can be queued and arranged with the download manager.

The player experience will remain relatively the same as before. You do not need to register with Mod.io to download and play content. When you join a server playing a mod, the game will automatically download and join the match. You can now also finally cancel a download in progress!

If you still want to play the older workshop content, you can switch your Steam Beta branch to "Legacy" to access the old mods that will not be brought to Mod.io.

Game Mode Permutations for TDM/DM
Weapon filters can be applied to modern Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. This will allow more exciting varieties of ways to play by letting you select which specific weapons will be available.

Audio Overhaul
Updated weapon sounds to have more unique characteristics. There are also new reverb effects for better environment audio behaviors and a much more robust and improved audio occlusion system to help identify audio direction. We have also enhanced environmental audio to our maps to give them a much more lively feel.

New Guns

We’re introducing the Russian PKM and Skorpian to round out further the factioning system we just implemented.

New IK system and Hand poses

The move to the new engine brought the opportunity to rewrite the Inverse Kinematics system. We have additionally brought finger tracking to all the controllers to allow as many poses as allowed by the controller. Players can also lay on their stomachs and back in a prone position for all game modes except Search and Destroy.

Spawn system logic overhaul
When your character is born again, the logic is vastly improved to spawn you away from enemies and close to friends. Give it a try, and let us know what you think!

Search and Destroy
SnD has seen quite several changes. Faction-specific weapons have been introduced, meaning you can only purchase certain weapons depending on which faction you are playing as. We have also adjusted weapon balance and fixed many issues with this flagship game mode.

Team Indicators
To prevent friendly fire incidents, we have added team indicators that provide teammate locations on the map. The team indicators we made small so not to be too intrusive and distracting but still provide essential information.

Infection

The classic infection game mode is now a hide variant. Instead of battling a single monster, you must fight your infected teammates who have died and become converted to the enemy. Can you survive before the timer runs out?


Prop Hunt

Prop hunt is out of beta and ready for prime time! Prop hunt can be played with a few of the base vanilla maps. Prop hunt is a classic hide-and-seek game mode where a team of hunters must locate and eliminate a team of props who need to hide around the map and avoid detection until the time runs out.

TTT
New Roles, updated gadgets, and now the much-requested TTT classic, which is now a lobby selection option! Community server owners can also customize the features of TTT matches to put their ideal twist and flavor their communities.

Admin Menu for community servers
Server owners and their moderators have more robust tools and features that will make managing players in-game easier.

Blood
Blood can now be completely disabled in the player options for those who have aversions to the sight of blood.

Pavlov TV
A tool players can use to spectate SnD matches outside of VR. Many fixes and improvements to Pavlov TV have been addressed to improve the tournament casting experience. You can find the PavTV guide here on how to launch and use with our new Wiki.

Known Issues
Because of the switch to a new engine and OpenXR, this may introduce some issues that you may run into getting the game to launch for the first time. We have created an FAQ to address some of the problems you may encounter . If you're you're still not able to get the game to launch or encounter some strange in-game behavior that you cannot solve in the FAQ; please email our support team at http://support@vankrupt.com

Open XR
Switching your software to use OpenXR for the game to run correctly is essential.

For Meta/Oculus headsets, you will need to open your settings, then in the general tab there will be an OpenXR section to Set Oculus as active.

For SteamVR and Windows Mixed Reality headsets, Open SteamVR settings, then show the advanced tab, and ensure Current OpenXR Runtime is currently set to SteamVR.

Meta Headsets
Due to some current issues Unreal Engine and the Oculus runtime, you will not be able to run the game in SteamVR mode with a Meta/Oculus headset without severe performance issues. It is recommended to launch the game using the Oculus mode to prevent performance issues for the time being. This is an issue that affects other games as well.

SteamVR Bindings
The switch to OpenXR will affect currently customized bindings and will need to be reset. You can find out how in our troubleshooting FAQ.
