Pagan Online was and remains a labor of love, made possible in many ways because of its dedicated community. We have been working hard to ensure that this community gets the best possible gaming experience. The previous post-launch period showed that the multiplayer game is not sustainable.

However, this is not the end! Instead, we decided to turn the game into a single-player title experience! We’re incredibly grateful for the amazing community the game has built and we're ready for its next chapter!

This is why Pagan Online is transferring to us here at Mad Head games, switching off its multiplayer servers and becoming a single-player experience on August 4. The game remains incredibly important to us which is why we decided to undergo this transformation.

Now, it is time for you to meet Pagan: Absent Gods! The single-player game will include all of the elements of Pagan Online, besides the multiplayer mode and its supporting servers. However, the breath and the scope of the game will remain the same.

The game will be available as Steam exclusive from that point on. Anyone who has the game right now will keep it, while moving their progress from the current servers to Steam. If you have been playing on a Wargaming server, an email with your key will be sent to the mailbox associated with your Pagan Online account. This will ensure that no Pagan fan out there ends up without their progress. Besides, a further technical update of the game will take place, and you can read more details about that here.

Presently, there are no set plans for any new content for Pagan: Absent Gods. However, we’ll reassess the situation in a few months and we leave the possibility of new things coming to the game open. Check out the game’s most recent devlog for a more in-depth look at what you can expect from the game.

Where will be Pagan: Absent Gods available?
It will be a Steam exclusive.

Will other platforms sell the game?
No.

Will the players be able to transfer their progress from current servers to Steam?
Yes - your Steam key has already been issued and you can find it in your Wargaming account that is associated with Pagan Online. If you have been playing on a Wargaming server, an email with your key will be sent to the mailbox associated with your Pagan Online account. If they haven't received the email in three days, to reach out to wargaming.net/support

What will be the changes in the gameplay?
Here is the list of minor technical changes and improvements.

Will the plаyers be able to host their multiplayer games on custom servers?
No.

What will happen to the Pagan Online community channels?
Discord server is staying active, but the channels for international support, as well as channels directly related to the multiplayer (like Looking for Group), will shut down. The same shutdown will be finalized in a period of 24 hours after the announcement. Pagan Online Twitter account is also staying active.

Will there be new content for the game?
The Pagan Online team will continue to monitor and perform maintenance on the game. Mad Head Games does not currently have plans to add more content to Pagan Online, although that may be reconsidered once we settle into a single-player mode.

How to wipe your progress in Pagan: Absent Gods?

Hello Pagans,

Since the launch of Pagan Online, Wargaming and Mad Head Games have been working to ensure the best possible gaming experience. Unfortunately, over the last year, it has become clear that supporting Pagan Online as a multiplayer game is no longer sustainable.

To ensure the continuity of our game, we will be converting Pagan Online from multiplayer to single player. This will happen on August 4, when the multiplayer servers will be switched off.

To all our players who joined this adventure with us, your feedback and insights have been invaluable on this journey and we could not be more thankful for the heart and passion you put into helping us deliver the Pagan Online experience. Thank you, and we hope you continue playing the game in solo mode.

Moving forward, we want to make sure that the Pagan Online community is cared for, and that the game remains available for players to enjoy. To ensure this, we have come to an agreement with Mad Head Games to maintain Pagan Online as a single-player experience hosted on Steam. Mad Head Games will also be taking over daily operations for Pagan Online and be your contact for technical support for the foreseeable future.

On August 4, 2020, a Steam update will make Pagan Online into a single-player game.

As a thank you for playing Pagan Online, Wargaming would like to offer you a set of gifts: 7 days of Premium Account and one vehicle from each of our major games will be added to your Wargaming.net accounts shortly after the August 4 patch. If you bought a copy of Pagan Online via Wargaming.net Game Center, you will receive a Steam key inviting you to the new version by email on August 4.

At the time of this announcement, Pagan Online is no longer available for purchase on Wargaming.net. Steam purchases are also turned off until the single-player patch goes live.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pagan Online shutting down?
No, but we are closing the multiplayer servers down. Pagan Online will be available on Steam as a single-player game for the foreseeable future.

I play on the Wargaming Center launcher. What will happen to my game?
On August 4, you will receive a Steam key inviting you to play Pagan Online on Steam, sent to the email you registered your Wargaming account with.

What happens to my old progress from Wargaming Center?
You will be able to transfer your progress in Pagan Online if you choose to. Since our last update, your progress is currently stored both locally and server-side. After we roll out our new single-player client on August 4, there will be an option to “restore” your progression on the log-in screen. Simply insert the invitation Steam key you received to claim your progress.

What are my gifts and how can I redeem them?
Your gifts will be as follows:

- Shared Premium Account is available for World of Tanks, World of Warships, World of Warplanes and World of Tanks Blitz.
- One Tier III vehicle from each of our major games

I can’t find my gifts!
Your gifts will be sent directly to the account you registered in Pagan Online on August 4. Make sure to check your Wargaming games in the proper region for your account. If you need further help, please reach out to wargaming.net/support.

Can I get a refund for Pagan Online on Wargaming.net?
Purchases are now discontinued on Wargaming.net, and we will not be issuing refunds.

Can I still buy a copy of the game?
Pagan Online will be available for purchase on Steam as a single player game from August 4.

Why are you shutting down the multiplayer servers?
Despite the support from our players and the best efforts of our teams, supporting multiplayer servers for Pagan Online is no longer sustainable.

Can I really play Pagan Online in single player?
The contents of Pagan Online have always been playable either in solo or co-op mode. The only changes to the single-player version of the game are that we are removing the tutorial for grouping and adding a button on the log-in screen to allow you to retrieve your progress.

What happens to the Community channels?
The Community channels for Pagan Online will not be shutting down.
Mad Head Games will be taking over daily operations, including Customer support and daily interactions with our players. They will also take over the management of our official Discord server.

What about the website and social media?
Mad Head Games will also manage Pagan-Online.com and our official Twitter account.

Will there be more development done on Pagan Online?
The Pagan Online team will continue to monitor and perform maintenance on the game, as well as push fixes when necessary. Mad Head Games does not currently have plans to add more content to Pagan Online, although that may be reconsidered once we settle into a single-player mode.

With Christmas creeping nearer and Santa stealing all the glory, we decided to give out some gifts of our own to spread some cheer.

In this patch, we introduce some highly requested balance changes, fix a large number of bugs, and introduce new tools for challenge: Steam achievements and post-battle stats. We’ve also decorated the Pantheon and introduced holiday-friendly login and loading screens. Last but most certainly not least, in the spirit of giving, we added a new pet to the game: Sasha of the Far East!



The seventh in a line of reincarnated hero companions, the proud Sasha will only accept the greatest of champions as her ally. She does accept snacks as payment, though.

Pet bonus: Drop chance increased by 10%. To acquire our latest pet, log in between December 19th and January 9th.

Steam achievements
Steam Achievements are now live!

Roll up your sleeves and get to earning 123 new achievements in Pagan Online to show off to your friends.

Hero level achievements will be retroactive.

Game screens
We have added post-battle statistics to the Victory screen so you can see exactly what works and how many enemies you felled. Just a tip – it’s better in co-op so you can compare damage and kills. Who doesn’t love a bit of healthy competition? 😉

Balance
Improved general balance
  • Improved loot for Morana boss fight
  • Ticking damage from debuffs now deal a maximum of 20% max health to players. Enemies will still receive full damage from DoTs
  • Some environment interactables (rocks, exploding barrels, etc.) no longer deal damage to players or allies on master difficulty
  • Lowered difficulty and party size multipliers for enemy health and damage.
  • Hero fixes:
  • Kingewitch's Stomp ability now shows the size of the affected area when upgrading it with the Carnage mod
  • Kingewitch's Judgement of Svarog duration and radius visuals now updates with duration and radius upgrades
  • Kingewitch's Killing Blow upgrade for the Judgement of Svarog ability now works as intended
  • Kingewitch's Slow Roast ability modifier now applies proper damage with the burning debuff
  • Elden's Scepters of Her Infamy weapon now has the proper model for the long blade
  • Elden's weapon no longer disappears when he does his flinching animation
  • Lukian's Lightning Disciple / Fire Disciple summons now deal the proper damage at higher level
  • Anya's Blood Rite passive now deals proper damage when stacking the blood fragment buff.
  • Item changes:
  • Legendary items now have the same item level and account level requirements as the base items they are made of
  • The Avatar of Triglav ward now deflects full damage instead of calculating enemy resistances as well
  • The Fabled attribute "Gain full resource on every 5 kills" now gives full resources when the resource cap is raised above 100 through other effects
  • The Fabled attribute "Recover 5% health for each second an enemy is on fire in a 4m radius" now works as intended
  • The Shroudborne ward's fire trail now deals proper damage.

Bug Fixes
Challenges:
  • The "Travel Less Than..." challenge now works in co-op
  • The "Receive less than X damage" challenge now works in co-op mode
  • The "Receive no damage for X seconds" challenge now works in co-op.
  • General bug fixes:
  • The "Remember to Forget" battle now has the player spawn at the correct location on the map
  • Mora's "Bloody Peck" telegraph now disappears after she dies
  • The focus target decal beneath enemies now properly scales with their size when using the "click to move" control scheme
  • If the quest leader leaves the battle, every other player will keep the items they've collected before the game returns them to the Pantheon
  • The "Shroud Cage" encounter now always give a recipe if the encounter is successfully completed.

Patch 1.2.0. will go live on December 19. Servers will be down from 05:00 to 06:00 UTC.

We've been looking forward to this one since the first days of our Trials - and now it's here! After some work on stability and backend, we're raising the party size to a maximum of 4 players with Patch 1.1.1. and adding some Quality of life improvements to support this extended feature. Grab a handful of friends and take on bigger, badder challenges starting tomorrow.

COOP
  1. COOP parties are now from 2 to 4 players.
  2. A Revive option has been added to COOP.
  3. Spectator mode has been added to COOP.
BUG FIXES
We also took the opportunity to add bug fixes and improvements.

  1. Survival and defense wave timers are shortened if the wave is cleared with a lot of time remaining.
  2. Fixed an issue with geo blockers in expeditions.

We are very excited for this patch, where we will be bringing you a highly anticipated feature - campaign co-op! While we didn't set out to have the campaign available for multiplayer, and we built it as its own solo experience, we saw your overwhelming feedback requesting it and decided that it was worth the time and effort to bring it to the game. This was no small endeavor as we had to overhaul some major aspects of the experience, but we are happy to say that you will finally be able to partner up with a friend and live through Pagan Online’s adventure together.

As Halloween is almost here, we are also bringing some of that spooky spirit to the Pantheon as well as a new companion, available exclusively this week.

Alongside more fixes and implementations, we continue our work on stabilization and optimization of your online experience - and we also hope to be able to bring you even more ways to play together soon!

CAMPAIGN CO-OP
We worked hard to deliver this first experience for playing co-op in a party with a friend and we plan to keep improving it. Since we didn't set out to have COOP in the campaign, and had to make some deep changes in our systems to account for your interactions, progression, and the many instances in which you unlock the next stage of the campaign, were you to play alongside another player. We had to come up with some creative solutions for these reasons - and are still polishing some aspects of it - as there are some glitches still present. They occur due to our technology setup and we are still ironing coding wrinkles out. To minimize the frustration of possible glitches here is how it works:
  • Once two players enter any mission in co-op, the first one to load is proclaimed the “instance owner” by the server. This is not related to the party leader or to suggesting missions in Pantheon.
  • This “instance owner” is in charge. They will be the one to trigger all of the interactions, dialogues, and events during a campaign battle.
  • KNOWN ISSUE 1: In some cases, the “instance owner” dies and cannot be revived at some points of the mission because of how our revival system works, and the next quest event cannot be triggered.
    Future Hotfix: We will address this in some of the hotfixes to come by making revive a manual action by players who are alive after the encounter.
  • KNOWN ISSUE 2: If the “instance owner” gets disconnected from the game, that mission cannot be finished because the other player cannot trigger mission events.
    Future Hotfix: We will try to address this by making a check to see if the other player has the same quest, then transfer ownership to that remaining player.

The Campaign can now be played cooperatively in its entirety, alongside one other player.
Missions still work as they previously did and support 2 player co-op.

HALLOWEEN
To celebrate the spookiest time of year, Halloween decorations will go up in Pantheon on October 28th!

Introducing a new Pet: Arachnid Assistant
This creepy-crawly is an invaluable resource for the lazy arcanist. Arachnid Assistant can even remember spells and page numbers. Tends to mutter pop music when frustrated!

Controller support improvements v2.0

Easier loot pickup  

Target decal
  • Moving Target decal now follows the camera position - not a position on the map
  • Activating abilities with target decal now rotates the hero toward the decal instead of toward the cursor
Targeting closest enemy
  • Implemented logic of targeting the opponent closest to the player by placing the targeting decal on the closest opponent the player is facing (or the closest in general if there is none in line of sight)
Targeting with Hector's abilities
  • 2-Rats Ability - target decal added
  • Oil Spill - target decal added
Confirmation Dialog for gamepad support
  • Battlefield Hero confirmation (a dialog appears at the end of Battlefield to confirm the choice of hero)
