Today is the first day of 2019, and I wanted for all of us to take a moment and reflect on what we have accomplished. There have been some major milestones, several roadmap deliveries, increased productivity and understanding of systems and code, and new roads paved for us to make 2019 another year of tremendous progress. Please join me in this review and let us not forget how much ground has been gained. Do note, a Roadmap outlining 2019’s objectives will be a separate article, but I’ll quickly cover what we are working on at this moment. May you have a very Happy New Year, S!

I wanted to say THANK YOU for your steadfast support. We will be able to continue development and maintain operations of WWII Online as long as you are here. Each of you are extremely valued and we hope you will help us carry on this dream.

TO OUR TEAM AT CRS
Many of you have grown so much in your capability as individuals, and as a team we’ve refined our process and intend to do so some more. This has resulted into tremendous progress in 2018 and has set ourselves up for a big year in 2019. Great work, and thanks for what you do, the WWIIOL community and I are no doubt grateful.

PATCH DELIVERIES OF 2018
In all we have released 14 patches in 2018, and they included a variety of fixes / improvements and new features. Here are the main releases with some quick notes of its contents:
  • 1.35.11 - JANUARY 2018: Tank Busters, updated gunsights, PPO changes and EWS updates
  • 1.35.12 - MARCH 2018: Fighter Bombers, Close Support Tanks, .join command, several bug fixes
  • 1.35.13 - MAY 2018: New Stuh42, Crusader III, Churchill V C/S, Granny updated to 64bit, riding FMBs, KE / HE audit
  • 1.35.14 - AUGUST 2018: First Terrain update since 2011, massive number of fixes and some additions
  • 1.35.15 - AUGUST 2018: US Paras, Steam receives DLC Packs, NCO and Ammo Bearer class, lots of fixes
  • 1.35.16 - DECEMBER 2018: Panzer III L + N, Firefly, Achilles, Church 8, 3 new Fighter Bombers, HC Officer + HCMS, New PPOs, New Grass and AB Barracks models and much more

CURRENTLY WE ARE WORKING ON
  • 1.36 Hybrid Supply, which will enter Closed Beta in Q1-2019
  • Production is working on fixes of content and implementing new stuff
  • Community team is re-organizing High Command
  • Operations team is enhancing network traffic inbound/outbound
  • Support team is providing more self-help articles on support page
  • Steam has a new assigned Manager and is getting re-imaged / new life
  • All teams are reviewing process / staff access and making improvements to expedite results
  • Leadership and all teams are preparing a 2019 Roadmap plan

PREPARING FOR 2019
As mentioned we’re working on the 2019 Roadmap and it is not quite ready for distribution as we’re ironing things out. That said, I can tell you that it will be another pretty aggressive year here at WWII Online and we’re going to have some big objectives to tackle.

The best thing you can do is to subscribe to the game because it provides us the literal life fuel to keep this activity up. CRS is delivering as promised tangible results both for new content and fixes. We can achieve substantially more by bringing some more folks on full-time, and we’d very much like to do that. We need your help to make that happen, as volunteer time can only go so-far, and what is being achieved by a mostly volunteer team is pretty extraordinary.

In closing, I’d like to once again thank you for the support you have provided, and encourage to the best of your ability to help my team and I do more here at WWII Online (CRS) for your benefit.

We will be able to maintain the game and carry it onwards for as long as you’re here to back us up, and make no mistake, you are single handedly vital to our mission success, more than ever before.

OTHERS
+ Are you bothered by accidentally clicking buttons with your shaking Cold War fingers or are the brass on your sleeves pressing parts of your terminal you would not like to? No longer! Added the options to set a button click cap that will help out those in need and prevent unwanted presses in preparations for iOS and Android implementation later this year.
+ Easier debugging for missing file references

Happy new year everyone :sasa:! The Christmas break has ended, and development wise, I have taken full advantage. Please keep an eye out for upcoming news.

To kick 2019 off, I am on the search for a character artist to join our development team. The tasks are:

1) Redraw current artworks.
2) Complete illustrations for the rest of the game.

Style wise, something like this would be perfect. The artist is not available for work, but I have kindly been given permission to link to that piece as a reference.

Stars End has been updated and the servers are back online! This update has not required a wipe. Patch notes below:

Game Update v0.532

• Changed the way Ferry's leave a port on the back-end, in order to free up slots for more Ferry's to spawn. Additionally fixed a couple bugs in the Ferry spawning code.
• Players logging back in during the Resettlement Campaign mission will be asked if they would like to return to the objective location rather than moving you automatically.
• Players should now spawn with a full UCSpaceSuit when dying during the Resettlement Campaign mission.
• Fixed various issues with entering/exiting mission vehicles (requires testing)
• Attempts to correct the position offset on parked vehicles (requires testing)
• Raised the frequency of plant based resources spawning on Beta Prairie plus further foliage adjustments
• Optimizations to grass in Beta Prairie.
• Land claim price reduced to 500 credits.
• Horse price in Stables reduced to 300 credits.
• Abandoned vehicle spawns in environment on Beta Prairie increased
• Ferry speed increased on Janson Orbital - Delta Outpost route
• Ferry speed increased between major Space Stations: Hera, Kallus & Shoden

New! Combat staging area added on Beta Prairie. Access this enclosed testing area via the spawn screen - players will spawn in with weapons already equipped in order to test combat mechanics.

Have you noticed we have added big chessboard to the game? You can move chess pieces and play it with your friend! What would be the better way to start New Year? Only availalbe on full version of Voltage.

Last one before the new year. Anyone can wear pretty much anything. I decided it would be way too much work moving forward to create four sets of gear for every zone, so it will be up to you to equip your characters however you see fit!

New:
- Vendors in Auria have updated stock after the third Veil checkpoint.
- Placeholder quest added to current end of main story, pending updates. If you finished the current content before this patch – don’t worry. A debug object will be added to the Black Forest when the quest details are filled out.
Changes:
- Equipment can now be worn by any character. Main and off-hand remain character specific.
- Renamed equipment slots and reconfigured certain accessories.
- Text and restore effects changed for fruit items.
- Gizelle’s bronze boxes now contain Weak instead of Minor potions.
2.2.0.4 [Shipped with 2.2.1]
New:
- New quest appears at the start of the game for players exploring the menu. This quest disappears after The Mysterious Voice is obtained from Jack.
- Equipment for Riley now has a chance to drop from mechanical enemies.
