Seekers of Eclipse - Cleansing Water

Feedback - thank you all for submitting it either on discord or in discussions here on steam. Here are the changes I made:

  • Added VSync to options

  • Added building rotations - Q and E on keyboard, mouse side buttons or L1 R1 on controller. You can now rotate all buildings while placing them.

  • End turn has additional indicator when enemy would destroy main platform and end your run.

  • Building names now shown when hovering on them.

  • Tree and Rock info when hovering over them.

  • Woodcutter starting relic (Seed of Eternal Growth) now shows where the tree will be placed. If built over it will pick another spot to place it.

  • New tutorial info for adjacent placement to structures and energy not resetting between turns.

New Relics - Added 8 new relics to the game for more unique runs. These relics will be from the start of the game and no need to be unlocked:

  • Boundless Storehouses - For each resource that you are producing max at the end of combat, increase it's max by 1 (Butcher exclusive)

  • Wallbreacher - When playing a card of 3 or more Gem cost reduce enemy main structure Energy value by 3 (Woodcutter exclusive)

  • Earthen Slab - At the start of combat produce 1 Clay for every pickup collected (Miner exclusive)

  • Monument Charm - At the start of combat produce 1 Coal for every Monument in deck

  • Talisman of Refinement - Discarded cards are upgraded for the combat

  • Starstone - Draw 1 additional card at the start of each day

  • Rubble Cache - At the start of combat produce 1 Stone for every card destroyed

  • Witherleaf Bowl - After playing upgraded card, downgrade it permanently and produce 1 of each resource that you produced this combat

Balance - After playing more myself and from your feedback some changes were made:

Some very sad news today. The second season of Tales From The Unending Void, which was planned for release this year has been rejected and banned by Steam after review. There are no appeals to this process, so I'm afraid this it the end of the franchise of three season on Steam. I'm looking at other storefronts like GOG to sell the second season.

Some background to the whole process: I first submitted the second season game build in early July. The game build was approved apart from some technical matters (a mature content overview that needed updating and missing controller support) on July 13. After fixing those issues and resubmitting I got the final review today telling me that Steam has decided not to publish the second season due to "themes, imagery or descriptions that we won’t distribute".

I can imagine that you have been looking forward to continuing the story of Camran and his crew. While the game won't be available on Steam, all of the game builds are cross-compatible. So if you download or buy the game elsewhere, you'll be able to continue where you've left off. When alternative options of purchasing the game become available I'll be sure to let you know.

  • Villagers now have improved screens where you can track their relationships.

  • Affection can be seen growing between individuals, showing how bonds form before they decide to become a couple.

  • A new family tree view allows you to follow family lines through generations.

  • See how households expand, intertwine, and give your settlement a deeper sense of continuity.

The Cycle of Life
  • Your villagers will now age gracefully, and in time, pass on.

  • This brings a natural rhythm to the community — new generations are born as others leave their mark on history.

These additions aim to make your settlement feel alive, not just in its economy and buildings, but in the human connections that shape its story.

  • Added into the home basement a small laboratory (see spoiler in patch notes in Discussion forum- spoilers are not enabled in announcements)

  • Fixed the descriptions of some items that were not listing their mana boosts when worn/held

Patch notes 1.192 

  • Added a minion command “all followers move to…”

  • Added shortcut (CTRL+Click on mouse+keyboard, or LeftTrigger+Click on game controller/steam deck) for a minion to follow/unfollow

  • For game controller, mapped D-Pad left+right to move the mouse pointer across the control bar icons (except during conversation, or when then the D-Pad is being used to move through a menu, etc.)

  • During combat, up+down on the D-Pad moves between the magic bar and the main control bar

  • Fixed a couple of issues that could happen if you interact with someone too quickly after entering/exiting a building when a scripted sequence (cutscene) is about to happen

  • Fixed a possible soft-lock during the 1st night drinking with Diedrik scene, if you’re clicking very fast through the conversation

  • Fixed it so you don’t remove the death-shroud after Repair or Rejuvenate, if you were wearing it when starting the ritual

  • Added an ‘unstuck’ button in the Escape menu, to use if you’re stuck somehow on world geometry- you get moved to a nearby valid spot.

  • Fixed a problem with Sofia or Albrecht following you at home and trying to walk into the basement

  • Fixed a bug that made you lose story-mode (auto resolved) combats if your opponents’ total combat rating was negative

Fix & Update
1. Added dark-themed UI, freely switchable in Settings.

Sometimes I wonder what this devlog should be about. Is this a bullet-point list of what I have spent my work hours doing this week? Do I really want to tell you everything? There needs to be surprises!

Sometimes I feel like talking about broader issues in independent game development. How do you learn to code? What tools do you use?

Sometimes I want to talk about more personal things. Motivation, inspiration, work ethic.

I did a lot of things this week. I spent time working on automatically adjusting particle effect colors for new environments. I created some lava for you to fall into. I created an enemy that rises up out of the lava and spits at you. I also added the ability to switch the music to the next song by hitting a hotkey, for me and the playtesters as well. I also installed a Godot plugin, called G.U.I.D.E., which handles input. Remapping keybinds in Godot can be a massive pain, and G.U.I.D.E. does a great job at providing a much simpler framework. It also has full documentation, as well as several video tutorials on Youtube, created by the developer. Highly recommended.

This week, I studied a lot. If you are looking for the best overall pixel art course that I have found online, check out Pixel Art Master Course on Udemy. It's very thorough and helpful. I spent time reading a game design book called Level Up! by Scott Rogers. It is very good at breaking down all of the details of game design. I read Beginning Game Development with Godot (2021). I did not learn much. I am not THAT much of a beginner. I also read some of a French comic book called "The Obscure Cities" and the mysteries in the stories are very much inspiring my subversive creativity.

Here are some tools I use for game development. The Godot game engine. Very nice, open-source, constantly being updated, and learning resources are abundant. Pyxel Edit. This is the best tool for creating tilesets, period. It is not as fully-featured as Aseprite, lacking powerful features such as custom brushes, but for simple pixel art, tilesets, and animation, it is extremely useful.

Now how is my personal game development journey going, for me? Well, I am motivated. This is my dream job, since I was a little kid, and I have a huge drive to create worlds, craft stories, and provide unique experiences to players. I want to create games that are infused with my own personal creativity.

Once upon a time, I watched Twin Peaks season 3. I thought it was the single most uniquely creative visual project I have ever seen. Everything single moment of the show was pulled from the depths of David Lynch's creative mind. And I was ashamed. Why am I not putting ALL of my creativity into everything that I am doing with my life? I remember this moment, and I continue to work to release the unique vision that I have inside.
