Hey, hey, everyone! Happy Monday. Time for another Dev update! Check it out!

Programmers have been really busy last week. Work continues on such important work as the inventory rework, code review, and more, as you read about last week. With that, they are working on a new build machine system, so updates have fewer issues on that front. All that, bugfixing, and more for the next update, just another week in the life of the programmers.

We said it last week, so it is this week. Level designers are all working on something we cannot speak about at this moment in time.

The animators are working on the new sidecar animations and rigging for another new vehicle. Bugfixing here and there and setting up grips for the next update. Other than that, I'm working on the cinematic trailer.

Hard surface are heavily into bugfixing and finishing the vehicle models.

Softsurface also working on new stuff, but more on that in the future.

Sound engineers are working on some sounds pertaining to the inventory rework and on some bug fixing. Same as last week.

Clearing up some leftover bugs, new documentation prep for 2026, and the inventory rework were the main tasks that our designers were engaged with. Also, the same as last week.

See ya next week!

The Floor Above - Eyvind

In the past few days we’ve crossed the 10 000+ wishlist mark, and we managed to achieve this in less than a month (!).

For a small indie team like ours, this is huge. It means more visibility, more support, and more confidence that our game is resonating with people. None of this would have happened without your support.

Thank you to everyone who played the demo, shared feedback, talked about the game, and of course wishlisted the game in anticipation of full release. We can’t wait to show you how intriguing, deep and captivating Mike’s story is.

Just a few more months.

Thank you once more, and see you on the floor above!

ステータス確認探偵 - 銘宮

An English mode has been implemented in version 1.13.

The main game can now be played in English (machine translated), and some puzzles have been fixed in English mode.

Other minor bugs have been fixed.

  • Items disappear when scanning inventory in State 4.

  • Stage art overlaps in additional episodes.

  • Selection options disappear in additional episodes.

Highway to Heal - MsK`
Oh, hai!

22 devlogs in and I still struggle to find the words to start them. As usual since last month, we fixed bugs, we did some optimizations (easy 60FPS on steam deck now 😎) and we read feedback. We know now one thing for sure: this game will stay top-down! The chase view was a nice experiment but it posed more challenges than fixed problems with the top-down view. So we will continue to improve the inputs of that one. I recently had the idea of having automatic J-turns, I wonder when I will be able to get around implementing that!

New Trailer
Making a game is important, but people have to know about its existence too! That's why we spent a couple of weeks working on our best trailer yet! If you could share it with your friends, communities and on your socials, it would be super nice! 🙏

Norm EN 1789
Have you ever heard of the EU norm EN 1789? A few years back, I would have guessed something related to the french revolution of 1789. In reality, it's the norm that defines what ambulances are, their performance, their gear, etc. in the european union. Today, in France, where we are, ambulances are mostly white and blue. This is about to change as this norm got updated and all ambulances will look the same across the EU. They will be yellow with a green checker pattern. It's going to be super weird for a while! Also, that pattern is called Battenburg... after an english cake! I'd love to personally thank the person who came up with the name.

Anyway, Tom just added the first alternative paint job for the ambulance! This skin is obviously inspired by the EU norm, even if it's far from applying it properly. We wouldn't want screenshots of the game to be confused with reality right? 🤣

I asked Tom if he could make a cake skin for the ambulance of Highway to Heal, in honor of the pattern. He said yes 😅

Demo Off
Having a demo on Steam is pretty nice. It's an easy way to show the game to anyone anytime and it let's you gather feedback on your work, which is always nice to have, essential even.

It's also interesting only if there are regular updates to it. Doing regular updates means you can't brake anything while you are developing. But we are a very small team, there's only two of us working on the game at the moment. So, to give more room to expansion of major features of the game, we are not planning any updates to the demo any time soon. As such, having an old demo online is not very interesting as any feedback wouldn't be up to date with what the game currently is. That's why we removed the demo from Steam.

Don't worry though, it will come back, for events and such. And it will be improved! We would like to thank everyone who played the demo while it was online and a very special thank you to all of you who filled (sometimes twice, months apart) our survey form.

Future
Will I ever find the words to start a devlog? To end one? Will we ever have someone doing this properly so I can spend more time working on the actual game? Only time will tell! And I can't wait for it to tell me.

With autumn in full swing, it’s time for San Vansterdam’s 7-Ply Maple Harvest Event.

https://youtu.be/OcD4MiYUuOo

Welcome to the 7-Ply Maple Harvest Event, running from Nov 18 - Dec 2 in San Van. Of our two Season 1 events, the 7-Ply Maple Harvest Event is a little shorter, but we can’t miss celebrating one of the historic events in San Van that showcases our love for San Van Maple—what we believe to be the best wood for building a skateboard. The Harvest got its start in the early 20th century, but it wasn’t until the 1970s that skaters discovered the perfect window for harvesting San Van Maple - every seven years. Sorta fits with the perfect amount of layers to make a skateboard.

To celebrate the San Van Maple, we’re updating the Gullcrest Village Community Park with 3 new setups for you to hang out and throw down in. Be sure to check back regularly for new variations of the park.

With the kickoff of the 7-Ply Maple Harvest Event, you’ll get new Weekly Tasks to complete and earn Wooden Nickels, the 7-Ply Maple Harvest currency. Not only will you be able to log in daily to get a free stash of Wooden Nickels, but the first time you log in you’ll get the commemorative 2025 Harvest Tee.

Because it's a shorter event, there's no Challenges for 7-Ply. Keep up with your Weekly Tasks, grab your daily Wooden Nickels, and don't forget to knock out the last bit of your Seasonal Tasks!

We’ve heard your feedback on the event economy from Skate-o-Ween, and are working on it. The 7-Ply event economy did receive some tuning/balance work, with more coming in S2, so it may lead to a surplus of event currency by the time the event ends (depending on how many Tasks you complete). We’re looking to fix this for the events in Season 2.

Get in, get your Nickels, get some 7-Ply Maple Harvest merch, and get ready for Season 2.

See you in San Vansterdam,

The skate. Team

Humblets - Berry Bite

Hello humblets! 🌱

It’s time to dive into player clothing ✨

Today we’re showing off a handful of outfit pieces, new shoe designs and hats! These are just the first items created for the updated player character, and we have many more planned. We’re super excited about the wardrobe we’re building, so let’s take a look at the newest additions!

Clothing 🧶

During the concepting phase, it was important for us that each clothing piece matched the game’s setting and was fun for players to wear. We currently have nearly 100 unique clothing designs, but for now we’ve selected just a handful to showcase in our social videos. Our goal is for every player to find items they enjoy, so we’re planning to add plenty more options over time! Clothing will come as individual pieces like tops and bottoms, as well as full-body outfits.

In Humblets, clothing will also feature multiple colour variations! You’ll be able to dye items at the crafting table using natural ingredients found throughout the world, such as flowers and berries. While we try to have lots of natural, earthy tones, we’re excited to mix in some brighter, more playful colours as well.

The first pieces we’re adding to the game are ones we felt were versatile and easy to swap around with different colour varieties. They also served as a strong foundation while we worked on the new player animations, making them perfect to introduce early.

Shoes & Hats 👒

We chose four shoe pairs as the initial footwear options to add to our game for showcase videos. Like clothing, each shoe can be dyed with natural ingredients so you can have earthy tones or add a pop of colour.

Your humblet can still explore the world barefoot and that will always remain an option, but if you prefer to complete your outfit with some shoes, we’ll have plenty of choices available!

In addition to footwear, we also wanted to show some headwear! The first two pieces are a straw sun hat and a classic beret.

We’re very excited to show you our humblets wearing their new outfits in the world! ✨ It’s been fun adding them to the game and we hope you enjoy seeing them come to life. And if there are any other pieces you really want to see, we’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments or on our Discord server!

Stay cozy,
Daria and Aaron, Berry Bite 💚
