Upcoming racer F1 2016 [official site] will be getting a new Multiplayer Championship mode, which will allow up to 22 players to race over the course of a whole season, overtaking each other and hitting the pit stop and generally having a great time, while you get repeatedly lapped by all your best friends. When Codemasters announced F1 2016 [official site], they talked about safety cars and an improved career mode as the big exciting improvements to this year’s road-dolphin game. Pssh! Today they added that oh, yeah, now it supports full 22-player multiplayer too. That’s enough players in one race to fill a full Formula 1 starting grid without any AI drivers filling in. Also revealed today are Formation Laps, manual race starts, and more control with pit stops. Sim-u-like.

F1 2016 [official site] will arrive on August 19th, smack bang in the middle of the current Formula 1 racing season, Codemasters announced today. That means you could play along with a fair few races while watching them on television, I suppose. You’d get to tell your mates “Well, actually, I had the fastest time in the Japanese Grand Prix but due to a minor technicality…” then trail off as you turn away to sip your drink.
