Cataclysm: The Last Generation - wormywormgirl
  • Weather animations now persist during all actions and game states, finally getting rid of the fog flickering during driving and a few other activities.
  • On the back end, weather animation has been moved into its own function, having formerly been living in get_player_input(). Splitting it out and time-gating how frequently it can be called appears to have had a noticeable improvement in performance, though I haven't profiled it.
  • Fixed an issue with NO_MORALE_OK crafts incorrectly assigning a penalty to craft speed if you were happy.
  • Cleaned up an issue with erroneous explosion/ledge/rubble messaging sometimes appearing when something exploded at the edge of the reality bubble.
  • Reviewed and updated flags on many, many firearms to get them to use proper blocking, reloading, and handedness mechanics. In general, all rifles and shotguns require two working hands to operate, and all pistols and SMGs are at least partially usable with one hand. Pistols and SMGs all allow the wielder to make use of any body blocking techniques they may know, rifles and shotguns do not. This is not quite the ideal implementation - leg blocking ought to always be OK and there should certainly be exceptions to these rules, but for now that's the way it is.

Hey cyberware slingers,

Today, we’re taking a peek behind the curtain to learn a bit about a yet un-demo-ed character: Jupiter! (Warning for mild spoilers.)

This scamp is the youngest character in the game and is part of a youth subculture, dubbed Glamscum. Jupiter is 21, is studying at a local university, and uses he/him pronouns.

Likes: friendship, graffiti, bugs

Dislikes: the capitalist machine that runs society, other’s assumptions, being told how to live his life

Desired mods: either an animated tattoo, floating hair, or pointed ears (he’s not sure which he’d like)

Jupiter was one of the characters we designed quickly, realized we needed to tweak, and then left hanging for months. We recently completed his design, so to celebrate, here’s the full walkthrough of his creation.

First, we started with the concept for Jupiter’s character. We knew we wanted a younger client and that we wanted to explore aesthetic mods that were important to both outward and internal identity. Smash these together and add that he has a tight budget since he’s in school, and voila! We now had a character who would be interesting to learn about. (Plus there’s the graffiti, the fact he works part time at the City’s import docks, his hopes and dreams for the future… There’s a lot to ask him about!)

Some core elements of Jupiter were his idealism, kindness, and naivete. We wanted to make sure that we reflected these in his design.

As with most of our characters in Quality Dreams, Reasonably Priced, we started with designing his outfit. It helps us flesh out the personality more, as we consider how a character might dress, what they prioritize in their styling, and how we can use the outfit to express their personality.

We settled on the second outfit with a mix of elements from a few others. The outfit felt free and full of energy. It also lacked some of the try-hard or sporty vibes of the other options, which we decided didn’t fit the character as well.

Next, Nez sketched out variations to help us settle on Jupiter’s hair and posture.

From there, we moved to fully rendered sketches of both the character’s poses (with some tweaks along the way).

Then, I finished writing his scene, and we realized that Jupiter needed to be a lot less clean-cut and a lot more punk. (This is where we ended up pausing work on him for quite some time.)

More recently, Nez returned to the character and sketched proposed outfit changes on top of the current design.

Which, after some tweaking...

...became Jupiter’s new final design! (As seen above.)

Almost all of our characters have changed a bit during the writing process, but Jupiter is the only one who’s changed drastically enough to need a redesign. His original design was still something he could wear (especially if trying to clean up for an important appointment), but we felt like it didn’t meld well with his core values.

Jupiter desperately wants to be authentic and not to let others dictate his identity. We wanted this to reflect more clearly in his clothes, so we needed to move a bit further away from the good-boy vibes of his first outfit. The vibes are still there (as you can probably see haha), but now they’re presented in a different flavour.

Jupiter is a delightful character to write. He brims with enthusiasm, passion, and optimism. We hope that you love him as much as we do!

As always, thank you so much for your interest and support in Quality Dreams, Reasonably Priced. It means the world to us and it helps us out immensely! 💛

If you haven’t wishlisted the full game yet, please please do so. (And please bother other people you know to wishlist it haha) We live and die at the whim of the Steam algorithm, and she is fed with wishlists.

Also, if you liked this style of update, please let us know! We can do more of these for other characters if so :)

We’ve improved the tutorial to make the beginning of the game easier to understand.

Because the game offers a high degree of freedom, many players were unsure what to do or where to go after starting.
Now, with clearer guidance and better structure, new players can jump in more smoothly and enjoy exploring at their own pace.

Dino Citadel - Heghy

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to all the new people who’ve wishlisted Dino Citadel lately. I see every single one, and it really means a lot. I’m just one person making this weird little game about a dinosaur carrying a castle through a corrupted world, and knowing people are curious enough to wishlist it really gives me fuel.

📢 Now for some real news:

The demo is coming in November 2025.

It’ll cover the first steps into the expanse, the game’s larger world made up of shattered zones called shards. You’ll get to experience the full core loop: buying cards, playing commands, moving across the grid, managing food and energy, and even rescuing your first corrupted kin, called Moonfang, if you manage to survive as things fall apart around you.

I’m working hard to make sure the demo feels like a true part of the full game. Not just a teaser, but a real shard of the full experience.

🧭 What’s next?

We’ll be doing a playtest ahead of the demo. I’ll also share more detailed posts soon, including a closer look at the demo content and how the playtest will work. If you’re curious, keep an eye out or follow the game to stay in the loop.

In the meantime:

• Wishlist the game if you haven’t already. It helps a lot

• Follow the game for updates, dev posts, and discussions

• Follow me on Bluesky for updates and ramblings

• Or just check back in later. I’ll be here, building

Thanks again. Really.

Taking London - Pink Pegasus Games
Good morning London Takers!

The maintenance window has been growing egregiously long, especially due to the launch of the second server. After realising there must be something wrong with this as other, much larger games do not have the same loading times, a breakthrough was found! The approximate maintenance window has been shortened to 20 minutes, and crash recovery should be along the lines of a minute or two.

This has involved a total rewrite of the way the server loads data in from the database on launch, so while every attempt to test and ensure data constistency has been made, there is a higher risk of data load bugs. If you feel like something has gone missing from your city, don't panic - message the devs on Discord or at info@takinglondon.co.uk and we'll sort it!

Happy London Taking!

In the new update, it is now possible to change the game language whenever you want, just
by accessing the options menu.

  • Important notices:

According to feedback, many were having issues with item translations.
Now, if you go to options and the language you chose is English, but the items
are still in Portuguese,

just go to options and switch back to Portuguese, then return to
English, which should fix the problem and properly translate the inventory items!

The same applies if you are playing in Portuguese and experience the same
issue.

  • Now you can choose whenever you want!

Thank you all very much for the feedback, and as I always say, I am open to suggestions
for improvements to make your experience more enjoyable!
