Listen, never mind that sharks are not the mindlessly violent animals we’ve been trained to fear, and simply additional victims of mankind’s global vertebrate binge. Dismiss, please, the ongoing cultural rehabilitation of this toothy swimmer, who is statistically quite poor at killing humans. Ignore also their adorable habit of falling asleep when you hold them upside-down. Forget it, forget it all. Hello, thalassophobes. King Tide is an upcoming battle royale about being launched into the ocean via torpedo, along with 99 other divers and going on a rampage while defending yourself from bloodthirsty sharks. Got it? Got it. It s by the studio who made Depth, the multiplayer shooter of shark vs humanity. So, they were always well-placed to come up with Plunkbat but subaquatic . Sub-bat? Shark royale? The USA’s annual extended holiday of Shark Week kicked off on Sunday, celebrating the fact that their land is above sea level and, therefore, not filled with sharks. It’s an unusual national holiday, but one worth celebrating. Along with the customary week of Discovery Channel shows, this year’s Shark Weeks sees big updates from two shark video games.

Depth [official site] has launched a new hide-and-seek mode, while newcomer Shark Attack Deathmatch 2 [Steam page] has launched its co-op survival mode. It will never be safe to go back into the water, but that’s a death I could live with.

“Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…” is not a line Depth developers Digital Confectioners have used with their divers vs. sharks game’s latest update, probably because they don’t want to be awful people with tired jokes. Baby, grinding jokes into dust is what I do>.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Depth has surfaced with a big patch. ‘The Big Catch‘ has added mod tools and several new shark species to fight against (or devour men as), including a chuffing megalodon. Megalodon! The terror of the Cenozoic seas!
