Hi friends!!

I continue working hard in the complete re-design and refactoring of the game in the little free time (and nights) that I have.

Recently I started a new job as Lead Artist in a company and this let me very little time, but this game is my dream and I continue working hard on it.

I just spent lot of hours last week/weekend structuring everything to avoid working and working in a untidy way, so I prepare the complete map for the new version and I want to share with you my ideas.






- The final deadline (if everything goes well) will be 30th May 2023 (I decided this cause this date is the anniversary of the launch of the first EA version 4 years ago)

- I want to start releasing closed beta version (100-200 users) starting in January-February and with each feedback I receive, improve and balance it and I would like to release/update new betas around 3-4-5 times before the final launch.

- It will be really hard due the amount of time I can dedicate to the project, but with this plan, at least I have a destination point and everything organized to give my best.

- Of course, I am sure that will be changes, variations, etc... as in all projects XD, but I will try that not affect the final date, cause is a special date for me.

I want to encourage to you to check/join Discord cause I post more frequently there, with surveys with new ideas that I want to share with you and receive your opinion.

I hope , at least, that now you see a plan, you can see the the light in the horizon that the game is alive and will be finally closed.

Hi friends!!

I want to share with you how the new redesign is going in terms of art, new UI, and of course all the refactor code work that I am doing, creating all the code again from scratch.

The main idea is give to everything a more clear and organize aspect, for example in the cards you can see that now the description is not in the card itself (that let me have less visual noise in the game screen and have the info when you put your mouse over) same with other info in the game, more clear and organize is the goal.

And also the game will have a more dark atmosphere.

Hi friends, I am opening this post in order to ask you and have everything collected in the same place.

I would like you can help me running the new version in the correct way telling me what things do you like about the game and which ones you think needs improvements or directly you think is better to remove from the game.

For example:

I LIKE:

- I love the art/style of the game
- I like the forge system
- I like the combat system
- .....

I DON'T LIKE

- The alchemy gives nothing to the game, better remove it or I have this idea for that {tell me your idea...}
- Glatta must be only at the end of the game, not between maps.
- I think 2D game in side view like STS will do much better this game.
- Launch cards to the enemies is frustating.
- .....

I am not looking really long explanations, mostly points in lists in order to group them and check a general view of how the game is felt by you guys and you think could be a good feature or improvement.

I have lot of notes but I thought could be great if here we can put something in common and i can aim the new version in the best way possible, cause is possible I think that for example, redoing all this X part of the game will improve X situation, and really is something you guys don't care or is not important and I am losing lot of time in something most of you think is working well now.

Tell me if you think is a good idea.

Hi everyone.
I receive several messages from you in different social media asking about the new Deck Hunter project and I would like to explain the current situation about it.

Some time ago, as you know, I decided to re-do the Deck Hunter game from scratch and completely alone (in the first version, a couple of friends helped me with excels data, some game designs and marketing & communication) but in this new project, everything must be created from scratch from me (game design, documents, art, programming, etc…)

During this process, lot of things are happening, health issues, job issues, financial issues, familiar stuff, etc… and as you know, Deck Hunter is being done during my free time (nights, weekends, …) Of course, I need to spend some time with my family after lot of hours of work, and I been forced to accept more jobs to do (I help some people with their games but I am more focused in app development for customers and at the same time I am teacher in a centre) With all, as you can imagine, my time to dedicate to the project in this moment is really small and I can advance, but really slowly. Over this, I am feeling frustration because I can`t advance in the way I would like, and that is giving me a burn out syndrome that is really affecting me negatively in my health and in the way how I am working on the game, cause I am trying doing stuff faster as possible in order to people can feel the game is not stopped, but then, I am seeing my decisions are not correctly and I need to drop and re-design again that feature cause is not designed correctly. All for this is really really bad, for me, for you, and for the game, and I think that I must take the game as my passion/hobby (as I did with the first versions of the game in the current Steam version) and not as another pressure project added in my job queue. I don’t know if I am explaining correctly my ideas/feelings.

Of course, the game continues, slowly, but continues, this game is my dream game since years (It´s bigger that I expected for one person in the beginning, I must to recognize it) but of course, it will be completed!

I must apologize with you due the time is taking to me to complete it, but as I said, I need to take the game as something that passionate me, and one thing I am thinking is open a small blog or some place where write my advances/thoughts/feelings about the game (good and bad stuff, success, failures, designs, ideas, etc… ) and where you can help me with ideas, comments, and thoughts about the process.

Hi friends!

I want to communicate you that, after 2 months reviewing, in one side ALL the feedback you guys are giving me in forums (all threads), checking bad and good reviews, Discord and RRSS, in the other side the game code entirely, and trying to implement new features and applying feedback from you, and being difficult to scale it or create/improve something, I decided to re-design and re-factor the game in order to improve it a lot for future (portings to consoles, add new features/sections, improve the balance, create tools for going faster adding content, etc...) and update the code to the latest version of the engine.

I already started and I can show you first advances in UX (code side its difficult to show you :-)). Everything will go fast cause I already have the assets and everything, I am refactoring the code and improve the flow of the game in order to create a better experience for all of you friends.

As I promised, I am trying to release one update per month.
This new update comes with some new features and fixes that will do the game more challenge and enjoyable.

UPDATE CONTENT:

  • [NEW] WEAPONS EFFECTS ARE BACK!! Each weapon has an effect that can be executed if its activation condition is accomplished, check weapons info at Forge to check its effect and the activation condition.
  • [NEW] NEW DECKS BASED ON CLASSES !! Unlock new classes decks to select when you start a new run. New PALADIN deck added in this update.
  • [NEW] LOOT LOGIC RE-DONE & RE-BALANCED! Now you can receive a bigger spectrum of cards in higher levels.
  • [NEW] NEW WEAPON HELLSPIKE ADDED! You unlock it when you unlock the PALADIN class deck.
  • [NEW] NEW PALADIN ACHIEVEMENT ADDED!

  • [FIXED] Ungolaint don't give loot after defeat it.
  • [FIXED] Issue selecting the center card in loot.

Hi Hunters!

As I said, I am working hard to trying to release one update per month (more or less)

This new version comes with some interesting features to improve the future balancing of the game. Now the game includes a connection to a backend in order to get always the latest versions of the game data avoiding do a lot of steam updates only for balance.

Also, new environments have been added to improve the progression feeling and avoid repetitive backgrounds during long time periods.

UPDATE CONTENT:

  • From this version (0.82) an internet connection is recommended in order to synchronize game files at startup. If the internet is not available, you will continue playing with your latest downloaded local files.
  • Added a coupon/code system in the Main Menu, where you can redeem them and get rewards as resources, new armors, and more..., the codes will be available through RRSS, streams, events, ...
  • Added new environment VILLAGE before FOREST
  • Added new environment MOUNTAINS between FOREST and SWAMPS
  • Small UI fixes and improvements

Hi Hunters,

As you know, and I said in my previous announcement, it´s being a really hard time for me between personal and works stuff, going slowly in the Deck Hunter development, and for that reason, I am not updating the game with the speed that I would like.

But finally, a new update is available with important changes in Forge and armors.

CHANGELOG v.08

** BIG CHANGE IN FORGE SECTION ***

Due the feedback received from the community about problems with the balancing on several armors in the Forge, and evaluating the amount of work for balance each new piece of armor in future, from now, the armors will have only an aesthetic function in the game, but each time that you forge a new piece, you will receive a card of your current level as reward.

At the same time, the Forge has been COMPLETELY RE-DONE from scratch, making it much better visually and in terms of funcionality.





UPDATE CONTENT:

  • [NEW] Forge completely redesigned.
  • [NEW] Forge has been added to Main Menu too, in order you can set your armor without entering the map.
  • [NEW] Armors pieces now have only aesthetic function.
  • [NEW] Each time you forge a new piece you will receive a card of your current level (you can skip or pick it)
  • [NEW] Added new armor SCORPION in two variants (SILVER and BLACK/GOLD)
  • [NEW] Added 4 new Achievements to unlock


  • [CHANGE] Cards in libraries now are grouped by same name too (all strikes together, defenses together, etc..)
  • [CHANGE] Deck messages when you lose or add a card has double amount of time in screen in order to read it better.
  • [CHANGE] Camera in map has been moved higher for a better view of the map cells.
  • [CHANGE] Update card limit in combat is now of 10 either 20.

  • [FIXED] Bug in tutorial you can not exit/resume if you open settings/options during tutorial combat.
  • [FIXED] Discard Well went back to page 1 after remove any card.
  • [FIXED] Draw cards loops made you can have more than 10 cards on hand. Max cards in hand are 10.
  • [FIXED] IMMUNE info box of some enemies repeat same magic name.

Hi Hunters,

First of all, I would like to apologize for this time without news.

Since summer, it´s being really hard times for me between personal and works stuff. That forced me to go slowly in the Deck Hunter development, and for that reason, I am not updating the game with the speed that I would like.

As you know, I am developing the game alone, and that is really hard.
As a standalone developer, the personal and works stuff impact on the development, it is a roller coaster of changes in the plans, and for that reason, I am writing this post.

Anyway, DON´T WORRY, the game is not dead. I have the entire plan until closing the game. Now, I am working on the next update. The game will have some changes/improvements that I will announce with each update and, of course, I will continue releasing more updates.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and your support to the game, as a standalone developer, the community around Deck Hunter and your support, is the biggest power that I can receive to continue the game.
