Armored Warfare - 2000Valand
Commanders!

We’d like to finally unveil the single largest feature of the upcoming autumn update (alongside drones), which is a brand-new endgame competitive PvE mode.

The mode will be the first full (that is, constantly available) game mode since the introduction of Special Operations.

The idea behind it is simple. You find yourselves somewhere in the desert in Sudan. A corporation hired your team to defend the last solar-powered water purification plant in the region. But what they failed to mention is that there’s a veritable army of hostile mercenaries coming to take control of it and you are all that stands between them and their prize. There’s no coming out of this one... or is there?

In this mode, a team of 5 players (much like standard PvE) defends the plant against incoming waves of enemies with each wave progressively more difficult than the last. The enemies are after the base and their objective is to get to the center of it and capture it (or destroy all of you).

Your goal is to survive for as long as you can because that’s the true measure of success in this mode. But there are other differences compared to regular PvE modes:

  • This mode will be available for Tier 10 vehicles only, no exceptions
  • There is no time limit – you die or the enemies capture the base, but you cannot outlast them by passive gameplay
  • There is no vehicle limit – it’s up to you what you take in the match but you will need every bit of firepower to perform well
  • There are no respawns – once you’re dead, that’s it
  • Enemy vehicle waves spawn together and each wave arrives from one of several different directions (the types of enemies and directions are randomized so no two matches will be identical)
  • Enemy vehicle wrecks despawn immediately upon destruction and therefore cannot be used for cover (this is to accommodate large numbers of hostile vehicles)
  • New enemy types will appear in this mode (vehicles that cannot be seen in any other mission)
  • Ammunition will replenish automatically (periodically, with a sound indicator) – ammo is effectively infinite
  • You will not be able to complete contracts or Battle Path missions in this mode (at least, initially)

Difficulty-wise, as you can guess from the term “endgame”, this mode will be punishing – the ultimate test of skill. But the rewards will be major as well with plenty of Credits, Experience and Battle Coins awarded to active players. And that’s not all, of course:

  • An event will be tied to the launch of this mode, allowing you to earn epic camouflages, Gold or even an animated avatar!
  • In the next iteration, we will add a public, seasonal scoreboard with kills/survival times and special (epic) prizes for top players

The launch of this mode can be regarded as “Season 0” or, more appropriately, a limited trial run. We’ll be gathering your feedback, of course, and will act upon it – so don’t hesitate to let us know what you think.

Rest assured that we are committed to this mode and will be steadily improving it in the months following the release with new mechanics, new events and everything else we have in plans.

We hope that you will enjoy this new experience and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!
Armored Warfare - 2000Valand
Commanders!

Today, we’d like to tell you more about the upcoming Seahawks Battle Path campaign as a whole along with the changes and improvements we’ve prepared for you.

Preorder

You can now secure the access to the Battle Path early (and with preorder-exclusive items) in the Web Shop “Battle Path” section. The following bundles are available:

  • Seahawks access with the Seahawk (Early) camouflage and the Desert Hawk decal
  • Seahawks access with 50.000 Battle Coins, the Seahawk (Early) camouflage and the Desert Hawk decal
  • Seahawks access with 10 Battle Coin boosters, the Seahawk (Early) camouflage and the Desert Hawk decal

The Seahawk (Early) camouflage is based on the woodland pattern used by the Seahawks during their early Balkans campaign. For more details about the Battle Path, please read below.

The shop can be accessed in the game by pressing the shopping basket icon in the upper left corner.

Seahawk Legacy

The concept of this Battle Path ties in to what’s going on with Armored Warfare right now. As you can see from the multiple “autumn update” posts, we’re having a bit of a renaissance here. With that come new players and judging from the popularity of the Special Operations mode and the questions being asked, some are definitely interested in Armored Warfare’s lore.

With this Battle Path, we’re going back to the concept of story-driven events and diaries. The Seahawks Battle Path narrates the Seahawks story which the Black Company Special Operations directly follow, from the very beginning (introducing the world of Armored Warfare) to the events that took place right before the beginning of Rate of Decay.

Now, some of you know the story already – perhaps you have even been playing since 2017 when the tale got told for the first time. Not to worry, we’ve prepared a lot of other things to motivate you to enter this Battle Path than just the story – although it’ll be great to see it come to life with brand-new Diary illustrations instead of just texts. For the first time, the story will also be available in Russian.

Prizes

Speaking of motivating, there will be 50 levels packed full of prizes. As usual, we’ve prepared three brand-new vehicles for you:

  • Cheonma-2 Tier 10 Premium MBT for reaching Level 20
  • VN20 Tier 10 Premium AFV for reaching Level 35
  • XK3 Tier 10 Premium MBT for reaching Level 50

These aren’t directly tied to a story but each of them represents a looted Clayburn Industry facility as Andrew Clayburn does like to acquire interesting prototypes for his R&D department. Each of these is a Tier 10 Premium vehicle with a separate, unique gameplay but we’re just getting started. This Battle Path will offer three Premium commanders as well:

  • Joshua Seagrove for reaching Level 11
  • Kathryn Grey for reaching Level 15
  • Fedor Sokolov for reaching Level 17

These commanders have been around for a long time but, for this event, we have decided to give them an overhaul that will be available for the Battle Path’s release (and yes, the overhaul also includes Samuel Thorpe from the previous Battle Path). If you have these commanders already, you will receive Battle Coins instead.

But that’s still not all. We took a lot of inspiration from the 2017 Storyline Campaign and included a number of other prizes that had appeared in it before. Specifically:

  • Stingray “Black Eagle” Premium LT and all the Black Eagle skins
  • T-72 Victory Premium MBT
  • Sabre Premium AFV

And, of course, there’s the Abrams AGDS Tier 9 Premium Tank Destroyer that originally appeared as the event’s top prize. The rest of the prizes (camouflages, decals and more) are brand-new or reimagined.

And last but not least, there will be several Seahawk Loot Crates waiting for you, which include:

  • AbramsX Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank
  • EMBT Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank
  • Puma Tier 10 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle
  • Boxer CRV Tier 10 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle
  • Battle Coin Boosters
  • Platinum Boosters
  • Platinum Loot Crates

If you have one of these vehicles already and it drops for you, you will receive its full price in Gold.

All that – for the same price as before. Lower in fact, as we reduced the price per Level from 5.000 Battle Coins to 4.500 Battle Coins.

Battle Coin Shop Update

As usual, we’re updating the Battle Coin shop. However, instead of simply adding new things, we are (based on your feedback) lowering the prices across the board. The prices now follow this system:

  • All Tier 10 vehicles now cost 75999 Battle Coins
  • All Tier 9 vehicles now cost 55999 Battle Coins
  • All Tier 8 vehicles now cost 35999 Battle Coins
  • All Tier 7 vehicles now cost 21999 Battle Coins
  • All Tier 6 vehicles now cost 12999 Battle Coins
  • All Tier 5 vehicles and below now cost 5999 Battle Coins
  • Camouflages and base paints now cost 5999 Battle Coins
  • Most skins now cost 19999 Battle Coins (except for the most epic ones which now cost 44999 Battle Coins)

Mission Overhaul

Once again, we are changing the mission requirements but this time, we updated the Elite missions as well. In Seahawks, the mission chains will include:

  • Bulwark vehicles (older German and Soviet machines)
  • Mauler vehicles (cutting edge German machines)
  • Remnant vehicles (Polish machines)

The Elite missions are replaced by Seahawk missions (requiring Seahawk vehicles). In case these faction names are unfamiliar to you, they come from a story that preceded even the Seahawk tale and we’ll refresh your memory (or introduce them again) in the future. For now, the important part is that:

  • Each of the three chains rewards you with Battle Coin boosters and a single Seahawk Loot Crate
  • The Seahawk missions (previously Elite missions) award you with Abrams AGDS (or its full price in Gold if you have it already)

Conclusion

The rest of the Battle Path remains mostly the same. The Battle Path is currently planned to launch in November but, as usual, the specific date will be announced a bit later.

We hope you’ll enjoy this Battle Path as much as we enjoyed designing it and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!
Armored Warfare - 2000Valand
Commanders!

Today we’ve prepared the following items for you:

  • Object 490 Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank
  • M-95 Degman Tier 8 Premium Main Battle Tank
  • ZUBR PSP Tier 7 Premium Tank Destroyer
  • BWP-2000 Tier 7 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle
  • Tales from the Dark Loot Crate

Between October 10 and October 17 2024, the following items will be available:

Object 490

The Object 490 Main Battle Tank was an advanced concept from the waning days of the Soviet Union. Designed in the 1980s, it represented a radical departure from the MBT paradigm. Its distinct wedge-like shape, along with the fact that the crew was located in the back, offered unparalleled levels of protection. But the most interesting part of the design was its double suspension paired with two engines, allowing the vehicle to stay mobile even after suffering significant damage. However, the conclusion of the Cold War put an end to this design, along with many other advanced Soviet projects. You can learn more about this vehicle in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Object 490 Tier 10 Premium MBT is perhaps the best armored vehicle in the game. It’s a true behemoth that is almost impossible to slow down, let alone knock out, and concentrated effort is required to stop one of these things when encountering them on the battlefield. The combination of extremely thick armor and a powerful 152mm gun makes this tank incredibly deadly, even though these advantages are balanced by its mediocre agility and the fact that its gun is only forward facing. This MBT is ideal for you if you prefer slow, methodical advances while dealing massive amounts of damage with each shot. If you keep your flanks secure, you’ll be all but impossible to stop.

The Object 490 MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.

M-95 Degman

The M-95 Degman is an advanced Croatian prototype MBT, developed during the 1990s and 2000s. It is based on the previous Yugoslavian project, the Vihor MBT, which in turn has its roots in the improved T-72M series produced in former Yugoslavia. You can read more about its history in a dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the tank is relatively fast and fairly agile while carrying some potent firepower for its Tier. In fact, its owners can choose from two powerful guns:

  • 125mm 2A46 Russian-style smoothbore gun, known from many Russian MBTs
  • 120mm CTG NATO-style smoothbore gun that you know from the Challenger 1 Falcon MBT

It’s worth noting that the 120mm shells have higher penetration values and the gun can also fire Falarick ATGMs while the 125mm gun has higher damage per shot. Both guns will feature good handling as well as overall performance to offset the vehicle’s weakness, which is its mediocre armor. The Degman must rely on its mobility and firepower to survive, making it an ideal vehicle for aggressive, daring players.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.

ZUBR PSP

The ZUBR was a Czech privately-funded project by PSP Bohemia from the 1990s to develop a successor platform to the aging Soviet-era BMP-series IFVs and various other obsolete specialized vehicles. Even though it was quite advanced for its time, it was ultimately unsuccessful due to the end of the Cold War and the subsequent cuts in European military budgets, including the Czech one. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the ZUBR PSP is a Tier 7 wheeled Premium Tank Destroyer. What makes it fairly unique is the fact that you can choose from two different weapon systems for this vehicle:

  • Cockerill CT-CV turret with 105mm gun
  • Four-barreled TOW ATGM launcher

Each of these weapons changes the gameplay style of the vehicle considerably and it is up to you, how you configure this powerful machine.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.

BWP-2000

The BWP-2000 IFV was a Polish attempt from the mid-1990s to develop a replacement for the license-produced BMP-1 in the Polish military, since it was getting obsolete by that point. Its protracted development led to its cancellation at the onset of War on Terror, leaving Poland without a modern tracked IFV to this day. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the BWP-2000 is a Tier 7 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle armed with 60mm cannon as well as a set of ATGM launchers. When it comes to AFV playstyle, the BWP-2000 is definitely more of an infantry carrier and fire support vehicle than a scout due to its large size and powerful armament as well as the ability to deploy Mechanized Infantry. It can take quite a bit of punishment and deal it in equal measure.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.

Tales From the Dark Loot Crate

The Tales from the Dark Loot Crate is now available. This Loot Crate contains Tales from the Dark Battle Coins and Boosters.

  • Battle Coins are the primary currency of the Tales from the Dark Battle Path campaign and are used to progress through it and to obtain its prizes.
  • Battle Coin Boosters are usable only during an active Battle Path and increase your Battle Coin income by 900 percent for two hours.

Please note that you have to obtain the access to a Battle Path to use both items.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop. It can be accessed it directly in the game by clicking the shopping cart button in the upper left corner of the Garage.

We hope that you will enjoy the offer and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

List of Update 0.230 Changes

  • 3VBK27 HEAT shell is now correctly listed as Tandem (it had the characteristic before but was listed as common HEAT)
  • Boxer RIWP: Removed the Designate Target ability (this is due to the fact that in the last patch, the vehicle got an unintentional major buff to the Starstreak kinetic missiles that now deal considerably more damage against designated targets, creating a situation situation where the vehicle could designate its own targets and then deal very high damage to them)
  • EMBT: Vehicle can no longer be frontally penetrated by autocannons when firing under the turret
  • EMBT: Fixed the NLOS shell description
  • Puma: Fixed a large number of smaller visual issues on the Panzergrenadier skin

Armored Warfare - 2000Valand
Commanders!

We’ve discussed new sounds and the drones already but do you know what else is coming in this large autumn update? That’s right, it’s the Pipelines map overhaul.

Now, when it comes to Armored Warfare, one of the most complained about things is the visual quality. The game’s been around for almost a decade and, while its graphics are not completely outdated, there’s definitely some room for improvement. We have decided to start addressing these issues one by one but every (most certainly long) journey starts with a single step. And this step happens to be the overhaul of the Pipelines map.

Why Pipelines? For one, it happens to be one of the top three maps played in PvP because it appears especially often on low Tiers.

And, secondly, because it shares assets with some PvE missions and we’d like to address those too (although not during this initial overhaul). You can see some more screenshots below:

Please note that the map gameplay will not change, the overhaul is a visual one.

Armored Warfare - 2000Valand
Commanders!

Some of you have been guessing correctly, some of you have been suggesting at as well and we’re happy to adhere to your wishes. Without further ado, presenting the final prize of the upcoming Battle Path, the XK3 Main Battle Tank.

For starters, a little history and background as usual.

Our XK3 is based on a small scale model of the Next Generation Tank, unveiled by Hyundai during the ADEX 2023 expo in Seoul. The model was developed without any doubt to be more eye-catching than anything else, but also to highlight the technologies that are being developed to upgrade the K2 as well as its replacement.

The characteristics of the vehicle, as presented by Hyundai Rotem, are not known, but some can be discerned from taking a look at how the entire model is assembled. It’s clear already that the future doesn’t lie in weight increases so the tank would very likely be very light (we’re going with 35 tons). Pure passive protection is a thing of the past and the vehicle therefore features very advanced APS and jammers.

Several concepts of South Korean “next-gen MBT” were presented with a different one mentioning a 130mm smoothbore gun – so that’s what we went with. The launcher is for advanced Raybolt ATGMs. And last but not least, no next-gen MBT concept would be complete without a hybrid engine (also mentioned in potential K2 upgrades).

Unlike some other games, we’d like to be clear in saying that we made most of the vehicle’s characteristics up. How much “fake” it is when an actual small-scale model exists (along with a nicely rendered video by Hyundai Rotem) – that, our dear players, we leave for you to judge.

This tank has been in our sights ever since it appeared and it was suggested by you many times. We hope that you’ll forgive us the liberties we took in designing it. After all, it’s far more real than the infamous ZTZ-20. With that being said, let’s get to its performance.

In Armored Warfare, the XK3 will be a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank.

As you can guess from the text above, as MBTs go, the XK3 will be on the light side. The best word to describe it would be “cutting edge” – what it lacks in thick armor it more than makes up in mobility, weaponry and electronics. In other word, it’ll be what MBTs of the future will likely become as well – a hybrid of a battle tank, fire support vehicle and an electronic warfare platform.

Let’s talk specifics. You’ve already read about its weight – mere 35 tons. That’s due to the use of advanced composite armor. Here’s the thing about such composite armor. Even now, it is clear that tank duels are a thing of the past. They simply don’t happen even in widespread conflicts so having incredibly thick frontal armor to protect the tank against another tank (let alone something as obsolete as an anti-tank gun) is simply wasteful. Drones and ATGMs, on the other hand, represent a massive threat to the point of making classic, un-upgraded tanks obsolete. A single drone worth a few thousand dollars can effectively knock-out an Abrams (widely considered one of the best tanks in the world), let along even older machines.

As a result of this line of thought, the XK3 will be extremely well protected against HEAT threats but poorly against APFSDS rounds. The composites will also be complemented by ERA covering its sides (those are the hexagons on the hull). Along with that come two active protection systems – one of the best hard-kill APS in the entire game and a very effective soft-kill APS to boot. These launchers (along with smoke) are hidden in the turret – the hexagonal panels open and close depending on their status. The crew is also located in the hull and the turret is therefore unmanned (taking reduced damage).

But that’s just passive protection – what's more important is the firepower. The tank will have a 130mm smoothbore cannon roughly on par with the KF51 (APFSDS, HEAT-MP and HE shells) as well as a twin-tube Raybolt ATGM launcher in the turret. The missiles will have tandem warheads (1200mm penetration for now), excellent maneuverability and the top attack self-homing feature (think double tap Javelin/Raybolt, although single fire mode can be selected). You don’t have to worry about gun elevation and depression either – the vehicle will have active tilting suspension much like the K2 Black Panther.

It’s probably worth noting that the concept has a remote-controlled autocannon on its roof. We have decided not to introduce it because it doesn’t fit the vehicle’s intended gameplay which we will describe below. In other words, it’s a design choice.

And then there’s the mobility – a hybrid engine producing 1500hp at 35 tons, need we say more? The vehicle will not only be fast, but also agile and, even more importantly, stealthy. Because that is its real ace in the hole – its stealth. Aside from being generally stealthy (20% base camouflage], the vehicle will feature a brand-new active ability called Ambush Mode.

When the ability is activated, the tank redirects its power from the electric generator to camouflage and cooling systems. In game terms, what this means is that its active protection systems (both of them) become deactivated as long as the ability works. On the upside, the camouflage factor jumps to whopping 70%, making the vehicle very hard to detect.

When the ability is active, the gun/missiles gain an overheat meter. It doesn’t prevent you from firing but as long as the weapons don’t overheat, you can fire without a penalty to camouflage. This on one hand severely limits your damage output but it keeps the vehicle practically invisible for as long as the ability is active.

The ability will deactivate either when you disable it manually or when the vehicle gets spotted and the deactivation is followed by a long cooldown.

Now, you might be thinking, this thing’s going to compete for the same spot as the KF51 and EMBT, right? Yes and no. All three vehicles will have their niche. The XK3 puts more emphasis on pure stealth and mobility, the EMBT will offer the Jammer ability and as for the KF51 Panther? It’s getting its Hero 120 drones. How’s that for a pack of changes!

Either way, in capable hands, the XK3 is bound to be a powerhouse. But there’s one last thing. The name XK3 sounds boring, right? It needs a cool name. A strong name. So we’ll let you name it and vote on the best suggestion (with the owner of the winning suggestion receiving something cool). So start thinking about some good names and, as always:

Armored Warfare - 2000Valand
Commanders!

As we mentioned in the recent article about new engine sounds, we’re working on a major update to the game that will become available this autumn. And today’s the right time to talk about the first of the “bigger” things that will appear in it, which is the long-awaited Drone mechanic.

We first unveiled that we were working on this mechanic back in January and we wholeheartedly recommend you read the initial article to find out more about this feature (including early drone demonstrations). However, initial testing has shown that the drones need a lot of work so we hunkered down and started fixing things. In the end, the mechanic is similar to what was shown previously but the positioning is a bit different.

Let’s start with the basic mechanic. Much like Mechanized Infantry, the Drones will be deployed as an Active Ability. Once in battle, you can hold the Control button and left-click on the minimap where you want to send the drone. A yellow flag will appear on the map. A countdown will start, after which your drone will appear in flight at the edge of the map (it’ll be initially flying generally from the direction of your base to your position). The drone will then fly towards the designated area and, upon reaching it, will perform its task.

The task depends on the drone type. There will be two types of drones:

  • Attack (in the previous iterations we also had three different attack drones but, based on a lot of testing, have for now decided to reduce the number to just one)
  • Recon

The recon drones do exactly what you might expect. They fly towards the designated area and, once there, start spotting the enemies beneath it in a certain radius. The damage to targets spotted by drones is treated the same way as the damage to targets spotted by Mechanized Infantry for the purpose of rewards.

The attack drones fly towards the designated area and attack anything they come across there (within their engagement radius). If the drones encounter an enemy target on their way before reaching the area, they will attack it instead. First they will start circling around it, looking to attack the weak area that’s vulnerable to their HEAT warhead (typically the rear or the engine deck). They will, however, initially only attack when they deem it appropriate so you can evade them by hiding your weaker areas or just moving around. At some point they will attempt to attack anyway – this attack can be evaded by simply moving (in which case the drone will crash into the ground).

Once the drone is destroyed, another one will spawn after a certain period of time and so on. Drone paths can be controlled in mid-flight by simply moving the flag on the minimap. You can therefore guide your drone or move it around as you see fit.

But which vehicles will get this ability?

There are vehicles in Armored Warfare that have grown somewhat obsolete. These are the lightest machines in the game that typically serve as scouts. In real life, however, these are typically not found on any major battlefield during intensive battles – scouting by vehicles is more or less obsolete. Instead, such vehicles are operated by Special Forces who are also in charge of drone operations. It is therefore only logical that we’d give drones to exactly such vehicles.

Drones will initially be available on Tier 8 to Tier 10 on the following vehicles:

  • Sphinx
  • K-153C
  • CRAB
  • VBR
  • VBL Ingwe
  • Potentially KF51 Panther

The last vehicle is a bit different because it will have a special type of drones (larger but slower) that will be launched from it directly instead of arriving from the edge of the map. We aren’t sure we’ll get these ready for the major release but we’ll try.

Please note: this list of vehicles as well as other drone specifics may very well change before the release.

But adding UAVs is just one part of the equation – the other part is defense against drones.

On the most basic level, you can (and should) evade drones just by hiding or driving away. Drones can be deadly when catching you in the open but aggressive maneuvering will make them miss, just like in real life. You can also take cover behind some obstacle and there’s a chance the drone will not be able to get you (the effectiveness of drones in urban areas will be severely limited unless carefully manually guided.

Let’s talk active defense. The vast majority of vehicles in the game have machineguns and you can absolutely shoot drones down with it. In the previous updates we fixed the elevation on many of them so even MBTs can use them to destroy a drone. Autocannon vehicles will have it even easier as they typically offer improved gun elevation.

But there will be specialized anti-drone tools as well. The first will be the new, overhauled Airburst rounds.

These will (unlike their previous iteration) work the way they do in real life – they will explode near drones, downing them instantly. Against other targets, however, they will deal very little damage and offering very little penetration (and, due to a total mechanical overhaul, will no longer cause performance issues).

Not all vehicles will, of course, get them. These will be limited to real life anti-aircraft vehicles (yes, including Draco and Otomatic) and several others such as Puma or KF41 Lynx Prototype.

The second tool will be even more powerful – the Jammer active ability. We have announced this feature for several vehicles already but, so far, it has been useless. No more.

The Jammer ability will, when activated, instantly down all drones in your vicinity. It’ll stay active for several seconds before going on an extended cooldown (we are still tweaking the exact cooldown values). In other words, you’ll have the opportunity to easily defend yourself and others around you.

But this ability will only be available to a very limited amount of vehicles (which will include the Stalker and Shadow RSV-T.

And that’s it for now. Let us know what you think on Discord and stay tuned for more news regarding the update as we will have much more to share.

See you on the battlefield!
