The SpellForce 3: Versus Edition gives you the chance to enter the battlefields of Eo for free, letting you test your RTS skills against AI opponents or even other human players.

Skirmish or 1-on-1 Multiplayer
You can choose whether you want to take on AI enemies in a Skirmish battle, or go head-to-head with other human players of SpellForce 3 in both Ranked and Unranked PVP matches. On top of it all you can also check out the single-player scenario ‘Old Haalâyash’ to get a glimpse of what the lavishly created single-player campaigns of SpellForce 3 and its stand-alone expansions have to offer.

Multiplayer Races: Orcs, Humans and Elves
You will be randomly assigned a faction, giving you a chance to try out either playing as Orcs, Humans or Elves.

Barcelona, Spain / Vienna, Austria, February 19th, 2020: Just a little over two months after releasing a playable teaser for the Gothic Remake and asking the players for their feedback, the answer is clear: The fans are up for a new "old" Gothic game and the vast majority (read: 94,8%) was in favour to develop a remake of the iconic German RPG Gothic, originally released in 2001.

Over 180.000 players have played the playable teaser so far. On the evening (CET) of February 16 2020, THQ Nordic took the survey offline, and hereby publicly releases the raw data of the survey, as well as highlight graphs. With more than 43.000 answered surveys and over 9.000 (yes, really!) reviews on Steam and various discussions on all social media platforms, there is enough data to check.

As we want to start a transparent and open production with the community from the very start of the project, we are happy to offer you the results of our survey in a neat PDF file or - for the people who really want to dig into the raw data - the entire dataset with all 43.111 participants included.

They can play the yet-untitled Gothic Remake project and roam around the Mining Colony of Khorinis. After that, THQ Nordic is eager to learn from the players through a survey following the completion of the prototype, whether and how it should proceed with the production of a full Gothic Remake, or leave the heritage and the great memories associated with it untouched.

Mainly, we did the following:
- Added a validation to prevent tampering of original files;
- Added a validation to ensure all players on a server are playing the same

MODs, including the same version of DLLs to make sure that a player can’t have tampered files that would give the player an advantage. As of now, everyone plays with the same MOD than the host.

Guide to MOD installation

Why the change?

SuperPower 2 was originally designed with all the tools to allow players to generate their own scenarios. Almost every aspect of the game can be modified to create new interfaces, new rules and new maps.
Having a game that is easily moddable lead to some unintended consequences. Not only did the game support many mods, but some mods could also overwrite the original SP2 files. Malicious mods started circulating that would ruin the game experience for players on the receiving end of those mods.

GolemLabs made some changes in how we deal with mods to make sure every player was using the same mods. We believe this will provide a better experience to players.

What has changed?

We added some validation for the files that the game uses, to ensure that the game’s integrity can be maintained in multiplayer games. This means that when a server starts a game, it will look for mods and it will send this list to players connecting to the game. Connecting players will be able to join a game only if they use the same mods.

Fundamentally, it changes how mods must be installed. The original SP2 files can no longer be overwritten.

All mods must be in a separate folder under the “Superpower 2/MODS/” folder. Mods still need to have an xml file that contains the name and version of the mod.

How are mods loaded

When starting the game, it looks for a configuration file called Joshua.cfg located in the “/Superpower 2” folder. Here is an example of that file:


For each mod you want to use, there must be an entry between a <MOD> </MOD> section. For example, if I want to play the HDM mod, I would edit the Joshua.cfg file like this:


This would indicate to the game that there are 2 mods (SP2 itself is considered a MOD). Since “HDM” is the first in the list of MODs, the game will look for files in this folder before going to the next MOD (SP2 in this case).

If you need to install more MODs, simply add them to the list in order of preference.
