Street Fighter 5's final character, Luke, is a "major" part of the next Street Fighter game, Capcom has said.

"Luke will be a major part of the next Street Fighter project, so we hope you are excited to get your hands on him," Capcom said as part of a deep dive into the brand new character, below:

So, who is Luke? He's a blonde American mixed martial artists who experienced some dramatic childhood event involving his father that inspired him to become a fighter and join the military. Based on images shared by Capcom, Luke runs into Guile at some point.

Capcom has released a Street Fighter 5 update and, surprising fans, has tweaked Sakura's face.

Sakura's face as it appears on the Street Fighter 5 character select screen has been a point of contention ever since she was added to the fighting game in January 2018, with some criticising her "bug eyes" and "alien" look.

The update changes Sakura's character select stance, and so we see her face from a slightly different angle and with different lighting. This makes all the difference, and her face on character select now doesn't have that bug-like alien look.

Street Fighter figurehead Yoshinori Ono leaves Capcom at the end of April after nearly 30 years at the company.

Ono, who has worked on the Street Fighter series since 1998 and is credited with spearheading its revival with the launch of Street Fighter 4, said that from 1st May he will leave Capcom to work on a studio called Delightworks.

Delightworks is the developer of Fate/Grand Order on mobile, and will publish Melty Blood: Type Lumina, the recently-revealed 2D fighting game that takes place in the world of "Tsukihime". Ono joins Delightworks as its new president and COO.

Sony has co-bought the long-running Evo fighting game tournament.

Sony joined forces with RTS, a new venture from Endeavor's esports business, to buy the Evolution Championship Series, the world's largest fighting game event. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sony said Evo will return this year in online form and feature Street Fighter 5, Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat 11 and Guilty Gear Strive.

UPDATE: Capcom has officially confirmed Eleven as a DLC character for Street Fighter 5.

Eleven is a character who morphs into any of the other characters in the game before the match starts. It's a random select character, in essence, like Mokujin in Tekken - and a pick designed for people to show off with. Check Eleven out in the video below:

Eleven is a bonus DLC character and not the fifth unannounced character of the game's fifth and final character pass. Eleven arrives alongside Dan on 22nd February as a bonus with a purchase of one of the two season five passes: the new premium pass, which costs $39.99, or the standard character pass, which costs $24.99.

Dan hits Street Fighter 5 in February 2021, Capcom has announced.

In a video message to the Street Fighter community, Street Fighter 5 producer Shuhei Matsumoto said the developers were working as fast as they could to get the fighting game's fifth season out in the wild, pointing to difficulties around the coronavirus pandemic.

"Year 2020 has been a difficult one due to the effects of Covid-19, having a significant impact on our life and work styles," Matsumoto said.

Capcom has detailed the year ahead for Street Fighter 5 Championship Edition in a new livestream, revealing the identities of four of the five new characters - Dan, Rose, Oro, and Akira - heading to the game as part of its fifth and final season of content.

Characters will arrive across four major updates scheduled to release between the winter of 2020 and autumn 2021, with Capcom's initial update ushering in Street Fighter Alpha martial artist Dan Hibiki. He'll have four different costumes, and be accompanied by a new Capcom Pro Tour stage, and new costumes for other characters. Capcom is also promising new battle mechanics and balance changes in its winter update.

Then, in spring next year, it's the turn of Italian fortune teller Rose, who gets five costumes and her own stage, arriving alongside three new Professional Costumes.

Instead of the hulking monstrosity that is Nemesis, we have the hulking monstrosity that is Sagat, the original Street Fighter boss, the Emperor of Muay Thai, and in the world of Street Fighter, Ryu's very own nemesis.

The Resident Evil 3 remake Sagat mod, from Nexus Mods user sidemilu, does exactly what it says on the tin - and the plan is executed perfectly. Sagat, wearing his trademark eyepatch and with the scar Ryu gave him during that fateful battle front and centre on his chest, stalks poor Jill Valentine, who must be wondering which dimension she fell into.

A fighting game fan has taken it upon themselves to improve Street Fighter 5's controversial netcode.

Redditor Altimor, who has created hitbox viewers for Guilty Gear Xrd and Dragon Ball FighterZ in the past, took just two days to address a bug that has plagued Street Fighter 5 online play since the game launched back in 2016.

According to Altimor, and indeed other prominent members of the fighting game community as well as developers of other fighting games, Street Fighter 5 includes a bug that can cause one players' game to lag behind the other's during online play. The upshot of this bug is one-sided "rollback" for one player, while the unaffected player remains oblivious.
