Ballistic Overkill - henzimas
Hello, Ballistic veteran,

It's been three years since we suspended support for Ballistic Overkill, shutting down the official servers and suspending any official operation for the game, only keeping the game on Steam for a token fee and giving players the opportunity to host their own servers.

Today, as we enter 2023 looking to the future, we've decided to delist Ballistic from the Steam catalog once and for all on February 13th, 2023. We're very proud of what we've achieved in the past, but it's time to move on.

With that, we'd like to thank our fan base and players who have stayed true to the game throughout this time. We invite you to keep an eye on Aquiris’ next steps, which has other games in its portfolio.

Thank you very much! We hope to see you later!

Hi Soldiers,

As announced on December 4, today the Official Servers were shut down.

While you can still keep playing in private servers, this means all the Leaderboards, Missions and all achievements related to those features do not exist anymore.

This also means that the badges are now related to the player level, as follows:

Level 700, //LEGEND

Level 500, //OVERLORD

Level 300, //REAPER

Level 200, //DESTROYER

Level 100, //PUNISHER

Level 90, //DEMON

Level 80, //GHOST

Level 70, //ASSASSIN

Level 60, //HUNTER

Level 50, //MERCENARY

Level 40, //VETERAN

Level 30, //SURVIVOR

Level 20, //NOTEWORTHY

Level 10, //WANDERER

Level 5, //FUGITIVE

Level 0, //ASPIRANT

Thank you for all the support and for all the kind messages we’ve received in the last few months regarding the end of the game support. Be sure we’ve read all of them and take great appreciation for everyone who has dedicated their time to playing Ballistic Overkill.

Ballistic was born around 8 years ago.

Aquiris was a young development studio and wanted to deliver an arcade arena shooter suited for all FPS lovers, as we were and continue to be.
We foresaw a real opportunity to deliver something different and worked hard to develop an experience unlike anything available at the time — remember, there were no names like Overwatch, Titanfall, or Rainbow Six Siege around.

Our game was meant to reach players who were looking for a pick-up and play shooter with simple gameplay that was intended to be social. To make sure that would happen, we chose the most disruptive and fittable platform available at the time: Facebook, who used to have a much bigger focus on games integrated in its core product.

Around a year later, for reasons both internal and external to Aquiris, we had to change our focus and take the game to a more hardcore platform. This proved to be the right decision at the time, and the move to Steam resulted in a much more complex gameplay. While revisiting the main mechanics, we had to question ourselves what could be improved to offer a better experience overall. The answer was to create a class-based FPS with a more sophisticated progression system.

Since we were leaving Facebook for Steam and changing much of our core gameplay, we decided a new brand was necessary. That is why in this process Ballistic became Ballistic Overkill, an identity more suited to its new focus and hardcore mechanics.

On Steam, we quickly reached a considerable number of consecutive players, in a way that was great and beyond our expectations. Unfortunately, supporting a game like this with frequent updates is no easy task, nor is it something cheap, especially for an independent studio like us. Even though we tried and availed multiple possibilities, we simply couldn't deliver a simple and efficient enough solution to offer the support you deserved and expected from us through 2019, and we apologize for that.

We knew we had to do something and couldn't leave the game at its current state. Something that didn't hurt even more your expectations and could reach ours.

We’ve decided to end our official support for Ballistic Overkill, but will keep the game alive for our engaged community. Starting January 31 2020, we’ll shut down our servers, Ballistic Protocols and online rankings. You'll still be able to play with your friends through the community servers, and the game will remain available on Steam.

Beginning today, Ballistic Overkill will adopt a symbolic price: US$ 1,99 for the base game, and the same amount will be charged for each DLC available. If you purchased the game beginning November 1st, you can get a full refund for your money. Just request a refund via Steam and we’ll be sure to fulfill every one of them, regardless of the time you spent playing the game since then.

This was a tough decision to make. The toughest in the life of the game so far. We know some of you will be frustrated by this, but we are confident this is the best solution. Thanks for all the support you've shown us through the years. Even though we've reached "The End", it will always be an honour to have served with you in the field for all this time. We'll never forget our moments of fun together!

Hey guys, as you may know, the game is having issues with the leaderboards, items and other instabilities. We're working on to fix this issue as soon as possible. This happened due to some issues with the communication between the game and the Steam services.

All will be back to normal in a couple of days.

We deeply sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi, soldiers!

The Juggernaut update is here and comes with a new game mode we’ve wanted to put in the game since time immemorial. Plus, it brings awesome new costumes for Shadow and Wraith, and some performance improvements.

Juggernaut Mode
Juggernaut is a new way to play Ballistic Overkill. In Juggernaut matches, a golden Chainsaw lies on the ground waiting to be picked up. The player who picks the weapon turns into the Juggernaut — a special class with tons of health, The Juggernaut will score points for every moment they are alive and yet more points for every player elimination. The other players must try to kill the Juggernaut, and they will score points proportional to the amount of damage dealt to them. The Juggernaut may seem OP, but all players know their location, This should add an interesting dynamic to Juggernaut games that you won’t see anywhere else. We’ve wanted to have this mode in the game for several years now, so we hope you like it as much as we do, we will be on the Steam comunity looking at any and all feddback you have.

Juggernaut Missions
Six new missions have been added to the game, these revolve around the new Juggernaut game mode! Head to the servers that with Juggernaut game mode with haste to complete these new missions and earn your rewards.

New Female Skins
We're bringing the female versions of the Berserker and Marksman classes. Now all classes have one female skin available to everyone for free.

DLC: Guerrilla and La Muerte
Two new skins have arrived! Get ready for ambush, sabotage and hit-and-run tactics with the Guerrilla version of Shadow. And La Muerte is a festive costume for the female Wraith that puts you in the right mood for reaping.

Shadow Guerrilla

Wraith La Muerte

General changes
  • Increased amount of life of Grenadier from 200 to 230.
  • Improvements on general performance.
  • Cached character voices at start of game. This should reduce the amount of time to load a game map.
  • Fixed DirectX 12 graphics API. If you have Windows 10, try the command -force-d3d12 for better performance!

That’s it for now. We hope you have fun with Juggernaut and like the new DLC!

See you on the battlefield!

Hotfix
  • Increased the damage caused by the Juggernaut from 75 to 150
  • Increased the life of the Juggernaut from 250 to 350 per player on match (minimum of 700)
  • Removed camera shake for Juggernaut
  • Lowered damage feedback for Juggernaut
  • Fixed character blue Outline on FFA mode

Hi, soldiers!
The Halloween update is here and with its arrival, you can expect all new content and a new feature that delivers awesome new and exciting challenges to overcome.

New Pumpkin Skins
We are introducing a new crate overflowing with Halloween-themed treats including elite skins, and the “Legendary” Pumpkin Knife. Collecting six of these Pumpkin skins will grant you the amazing Pumpkin Head accessory.

Party!
While we’re talking Halloween, matches are going to have something special going on the 30th and 31st of October. Play on these dates to find out!

Daily Missions
The next time you enter the game, you will see the first of your daily missions on the right-hand side. These missions will feature challenges for you to complete such as, “Eliminate 10 opponents” or “Win 3 King of the Hill matches” there are currently 90+ different missions covering a range of key elements with plenty of variety. There are 3 mission difficulties easy, medium and hard. Whenever you complete these missions you will receive a reward of either 2, 3 or 4 scrap(s), that you can redeem for crates.

You will receive a new mission every day and can have up to a maximum of three active at any given time. You will need to ensure to complete your missions in a timely fashion as when you have three active missions, the oldest one will be replaced when a new mission arrives.

We expect Daily Missions to make the game more fun and diverse, and if you like it we may expand it in the future with cool new stuff. Take note: Daily missions are only able to be completed on the Official servers and through “Play Now” in the main menu.

In addition to daily missions, you will also receive special missions, the first of which will be appearing in the next few days. These Special Missions will reward you with a Mission Crate. Currently, the crates awarded will be the Halloween skin crates: with guaranteed Elite or “Legendary” loot! Your first Special Mission will be appearing very soon, and the next ones will be further down the line.

Increased Cooldown for Crates
Along with the new daily missions, we’re changing the drop rate of crates from 48h to 72h. While you’re still able to receive crates passively, active players that engage with Daily Missions will receive more crates per month — including 2 guaranteed Mission Crates with elite and legendary loot. With that, we expect to see more players competing on the servers while they are actively making progress on their missions.

New DLC
4 new character skins are in! The Grenadier finally flips out with the Mad Bomber outfit. The new Marksman dresses as a Secret Agent on her majesty’s service. Red Leader Shadow is ready to lead a squad of acrobatic ninjas to victory (I’d love to see that). And the Vanguard goes medieval with her new Crusader armor. Head to the store page and choose yours!

Grenadier Mad Bomber

Marksman Secret Agent

Shadow Red Leader

Vanguard Crusader

Improved Infrastructure
Last but not least, we’re improving our server infrastructure in São Paulo and Europe. We’ve upgraded our servers and we now have better processing and networking in these regions. This should help you fight better matches in America and Europe servers :)

See you on the battlefield!

Hey Soldiers!

Following community feedback, we are launching a small hotfix for our last update (Bloodlust). This update improves the player in-game experience when playing the Rounds Mode.

Fixes:
  • Round stats were not visible - now is visible

  • We’ve lowered the requirements for a valid match when playing in Rounds Mode. Due to the nature of this game mode, the playtime is lower than other game modes;

  • UI’s footer information in the Leaderboards Tab screen now displays the Rounds matches played correctly;

Known issue:

Linux 32 bits still crashing after Title screen. Please, use the 64 bits version while we are investigating this issue.

Hey Soldiers!

Back on the 1 August, we released the beta version of the Rounds update. Since then, we have taken onboard the loads of player feedback we received, added in a number of additional improvements of our own and have come up with the all new Bloodlust update.

You told us that the Rounds update was too passive. Well no longer - only the brave will succeed and the weak beaten.

The earlier you score a kill, the higher the points awarded will be.

With multi-kills at a premium, they now score double.

The Rounds game mode now features on the Leaderboards.

For a full breakdown of what has been included in the 'Bloodlust' update, read on....
  • Added Rounds to Leaderboards - you must complete 5 ‘Rounds’ matches each month to get ranked into Monthly Leaderboards.

  • Added Rounds to Week Leaderboards (Same rules as other modes).

  • Rounds warm-up time reduced from 34 to 26 seconds.

  • Fixed a bug in Rounds where the enemy becomes visible on the radar when nearby to enemy base.

  • Fixed bug on Reinstate map that allowed the Smoke team to access the map early.

  • Fixed the 'Killed By' message bug in the Rounds mode.

  • Added status of match to KillCam, so you can track your teammates progress while they are playing the current round.

  • Added 'Bloodlust' system to the Rounds mode. We want to encourage combat and aggressive playing, so the faster you eliminate an opponent at the start of the game the higher the points you get (aside from 15 points, you get one point for every 2 seconds until the round ends, max 35).
For example on the 1min 30 sec round count down, scoring could as follows:
    kill at 1:00 45 points
    kill at 0:42 36 points
    kill at 0:18 24 points
    and so on…

  • Double, Triple and Overkill scores are double in Rounds.

  • In rounds mode, players receive the same points for both a 'kill' and a 'kill assist.

Balance Changes
  • Berserker weapons:
    Thumper: Fire rate slightly lowered

  • Vanguard weapons:
Jackhammer: Reload duration slightly increased and magazine size reduced from 8 to 7 bullets.
    Widower: Reduced damage slightly

  • Tank Weapons:
Mongoose: Increased slightly damage and fire rate
    Rhino: Increased slightly reload duration
Rampart: Reduced number of bullets per shot from 17 to 15

Performance
Core .net runtime was upgraded from 2.0 to 4.0 (This should reduce stuttering on low-end machines).

Stay safe on the battlefield!

First we told you that a new game mode was coming.

Then we told you that the game mode was called Rounds.

Today we can tell you that the BETA version of the Rounds game mode is LIVE!

  • players can join but they will have to wait until the next round begins.
  • There are no team shields in this game mode.
  • There is a cap of no more than 2 of the same class per team.
  • When a player dies, they will enter Spectator Mode (there is no free view camera; players will only able to spectate players from their team).
  • Once all players on a team have been eliminated the opposing team will win the round.
  • If a round ends without all players dying, the team with the most players alive wins.
The first team to (win?) 4 rounds wins.
  • Each round has a maximum duration of 90 seconds.
  • If the same amount of players are alive on each team when the round ends, the round will result in a draw with neither team secure a round win point.
  • Balance changes - The Grenadier's life was dropped from 250 to 200.
