We’re back with another exciting update a little earlier than usual!
Due to a national holiday in Hungary, this week’s update drops one day ahead of schedule. We didn’t want you to wait any longer than necessary for the latest features and fixes!

Let’s kick things off with the technical improvements.

We’ve tackled a few important issues reported by the community:
  • OpenGL version fallback function fix. After introducing FSR, we updated the OpenGL version from 3.3 to 4.5. Unfortunately, the fallback mechanism didn’t work as expected, leading to crashes for some players using older hardware.
  • Improved Display Mode setting. In some scenarios, the Display Mode setting wasn’t functioning correctly, which could lead to display and performance issues. We've reworked the behavior for greater consistency and fewer surprises.
  • The drivers will now prioritize stronger GPUs by default for Zaccaria. This resolves the issue where the game could automatically run on a weaker (integrated or energy-saving) graphics card, particularly affecting laptop users.
  • Improved screen handling for cabinet users. It is now possible to assign the 4th display as a playfield, dmd, or backglass screen within the existing cabinet setup options.
  • Award Table Improvements. Starting from the City Golf Award table, we’ve begun systematically fixing bugs and polishing the Award series tables. These updates address long-standing issues and improve gameplay quality across the board. Expect more consistency and a better overall experience as we refined these special tables.
  • Memory leak mitigation. We've significantly reduced the occurrence of a previously reported memory leak. While not fully eliminated yet, the issue no longer leads to crashes or instability during typical use. In internal testing, even after 80 table launches, no critical problems were observed.
While we’ve resolved many bugs in this update, a few known issues remain that we’re actively working on. These only occur when using Borderless Display Mode:
  • on PC – When AMD Virtual Super Resolution (VSR) is enabled, activating a backglass or DMD screen in Cabinet Mode can cause the playfield resolution to exceed the screen’s boundaries.
  • on Mac – In Cabinet Mode, the playfield screen cannot currently be reassigned while using Borderless Display Mode.
  • on Linux – Borderless Mode may not initialize correctly until ALT+TAB is pressed twice. This temporarily resolves the issue.

Our next update is here, just in time for Easter! To celebrate the season of surprises, we’re releasing three new tables: one Deluxe and two Award series additions (including a long-lost gem from 2011). Plus, we're unveiling something special outside the game too…
As always, we appreciate your bug reports and testing. Your feedback helps make the game better for everyone! This update focuses heavily on improving performance and fixing issues.

Here are some major fixes:
  • Multi-Screen Crash Fix (PC & macOS). For more details, check out our previous devlog.
  • Resolved memory leak from Steam overlay.
  • Improved macOS external display support.
  • Improved macOS window mode support. Now the Full Screen mode is the Exclusive Full-Screen Mode and the Borderless is the native (green button) full-screen mode.
  • Fixed In-game UI visibility settings, now the NONE option behaves as expected.
  • Improved the in-game DMD panel and now hidden in VR.
  • Fixed borderless mode flickering issue.
  • Renamed windows for easier use for streamers. Now it's easier to find the game windows with your favourite capture application.
Some known issue:
  • On Linux, in Borderless mode, you have to press ALT + TAB twice to work correctly.
  • There is a not yet found memory leak in our engine. It is possible that the game crashes after 20-30 table changes.

Now, let’s talk about the exciting new tables!

The first table is the Moon Flight Deluxe table which joins our Deluxe series. Based on Zaccaria's 1976 electro-mechanical table Moon Flight, this reimagined Deluxe version takes the spirit of the original and launches it into the cosmos with a modern twist. Next on the crime list straight from the vault is the Gangsters table, which is an unreleased original table we began developing way back in 2011. For years, it sat forgotten on the shelf, but now we’ve dusted it off, retooled the rules, and brought it back to life.

Step into the shadowy world of 90s underworld legends, where loyalty is currency and power can only be earned in one way. In Gangsters, you'll place your bets, crack the safe, arm yourself and climb the criminal ranks with scores. How to get this table? The last table for this week was originally launched on mobile back in 2012. Now the Wild Games table is back and better than ever. Whether you're into skateboarding, cycling, snowboarding, surfing, or going on a quad, this table has it all. It’s chaos in the best possible way, with ramps, loops, and combos. Wild, just like your teenage spirit.

This is your table, your world. No limits, just raw energy and endless action. So grip it and flip it. Because if you’re not flipping… you're not really living.

…. and the last agenda item of the day is some clarification on Steam Achievements.

We’d like to clear up some confusion regarding our Steam achievements for the community as things have changed recently and we've found that there's a lot of misunderstanding.

Due to Steam’s technical limitation on the number of achievements allowed per game, we were forced to make a tough decision. In order to add new achievements for upcoming tables, we had to remove a portion of the existing ones.

But don’t worry, your progress will not be lost, only transformed.

Here’s how it works right now:

All achievements you’ve earned on Steam and not deleted will remain visible on in-game. But this achievement list may change in the future. The removed achievements (let’s temporarily call them Table Tasks) are still stored locally on your device, but they are separate progress from Steam. The Table Tasks are not erased, as long as you don’t delete your local save data. The Achievements menu in each table opens an Achievements List that currently displays a mix of both Steam achievements and the Table Task.

This system is still evolving and we intend to move the Table Tasks to an online-based tracking system, so they’re preserved independently from local files. But for now, as long as you keep your local game data, everything you’ve unlocked, both Steam achievements and Table Tasks will remain just like before.

We value your support and feedback, and we want you to know that we’re actively ironing out issues to deliver the best possible pinball experience.

We’ve fixed a crash issue that was affecting some players using multiple screens. After a lot of investigation, we discovered that the problem was related to how the Steam overlay interacts with the game. It wasn’t easy to track down, but the issue has now been resolved. We also addressed a similar problem on macOS. The fix will be included in Thursday’s update.

If you're curious about what caused these issues and how we fixed them, we’d love to share a bit more detail. It turned out to be a deceptively simple problem with a not-so-simple solution, and we had to get a little creative to work around it. Here's what happened behind the scenes:

Some of you have reported crashes on setups with a second or third screen. After a thorough investigation, we discovered that the underlying problem was very simple. In addition to this, we want to be transparent about our development process. We do not use the Steam version of our build during development, which meant that we didn’t catch this issue early on. It was only once players experienced the game on Steam that we were able to identify and address the problem.

Steam overlays its interface without distinguishing between the main game window and additional ones. This means that every time our game refreshed the content on any window, the overlay reinitialized itself. This constant reinitialization was causing a memory leak in the Steam overlay’s implementation.

However, the solution to this issue was far from straightforward. With no available API from Steam to restrict or manage the overlay’s behavior, our team had to think outside the box. Instead of refreshing the content on the second and third windows, we reverted to a legacy OpenGL function that updates the content without triggering a full screen refresh. In doing so, we moved away from using double buffering for these additional windows. Instead, we adopted a single buffer setup. By avoiding the full screen refresh altogether, we stopped the overlay from repeatedly reinitializing and switching windows, effectively preventing the memory leak.

We also identified an issue affecting our macOS users. Our Metal implementation was not handling external displays correctly. Since we develop on a MacBook Air (M1, 2020) without an external display, we had only been verifying the built-in screen.

Meanwhile, we saw a memory leak problem in our macOS implementation.

This fix was not easy, as it involved debugging across multiple programming languages (C++ and Objective-C). Once we identified the root cause, we were able to address the issue successfully.

Happy Thursday! We’re back with another exciting update for your favorite pinball game. This week’s release brings two brand-new tables, cool new features, and several bug fixes for an even smoother experience.

First off, we’ve tackled some major fixes.
  • Triple-screen support is now implemented for cabinet setup including Playfield, Backglass, and DMD displays. We highly recommend trying the DMD Display if you have at least two monitors, even if you don’t own a cabinet. It's a cool addition!
  • New notification bar alerts players when the game window is out of focus. This also prevents issues where the VR trigger button would stop working because the game is out of focus.
  • Borderless fullscreen is now available and also automatically sets the resolution to the maximum on the main screen.
  • Fixed Windowed display mode to correctly handle the resolution settings, preventing issues where resolutions are higher than the desktop resolution size.
  • Cabinet 2nd and 3rd screens now run in borderless mode, preventing cursor jumps and task-switching issues.
  • Cabinet settings have been revised to make setup clearer and more intuitive.
  • Optimized performance in cabinet mode, reducing unnecessary performance load due to additional displays.
  • Fixed Lights settings issue where certain tables would not save lighting preferences properly.
  • Fixed Steam Deck BACK button disappearing issue in fly cam.

The first table is Pinball Champ Deluxe table joins our Deluxe series. A revamped version of one of Zaccaria’s most legendary tables. Step into the world’s biggest pinball championship and prove your skills! Shoot the ramps, activate powerful multipliers, and complete skill-based challenges to climb the leaderboard.


Next up, the Casino table enhances our Award series. Step into a dazzling casino where every flip feels like a roll of the dice! This table makes it easy to rack up multipliers, but be careful one wrong move could cost you everything. Will you play it safe or go all in for the jackpot? Originally released on mobile platforms in 2011, it is now available to play for free after reaching 2,600 achievements. Don’t feel like grinding? This week's biggest news is that we managed to implement a very cool feature to our unique pinball engine, ensuring the best possible performance boost while preserving visual fidelity. We assume that many of you heard about it already. This is AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR) 1.0. Now, you can enjoy smoother gameplay with higher FPS, making your pinball experience more immersive than ever!



Please note that our implementation of FSR 1.0 is an experimental feature, and on some devices, it may not improve FPS. Based on our experience, enabling more graphical features tends to yield better performance gains. For smoother edges, don't forget to use higher Anti-Aliasing settings.

Of course, we're also expanding our table collection with two exciting new additions.

First, the Shooting the Rapids Deluxe table joins our Deluxe series. Brace yourself for a thrilling ride down wild waters in this modern take on a classic 1979 pinball table. Inspired by the skill and spirit of Native American canoeists, it delivers fast-paced action wrapped in rich cultural themes.



Next, the Future Gladiators table lands in our Award series! This high-intensity table fuses the excitement of American football with dynamic pinball action. Originally released on mobile platforms in 2012, it is now available to play for free after reaching 2,400 achievements. Don’t feel like grinding? We've also polished the LCD display on Deluxe tables. From now on, each upcoming table will feature unique font types. You can try out the effect by navigating to Options > Table Skin > LCD Effect.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been hard at work to bring you another exciting update. We're thrilled to share that this update comes packed with fresh content for you to enjoy.

Just like in our previous updates, we're adding two new tables to the mix.

First up in our Deluxe series is the Earth Wind Fire Deluxe table. This table offers a fantasy theme that will enchant you with its magical gameplay elements. For the first time, we’ve introduced a decorative element featuring a black cat that watches the ball’s movement. Keep your eye on it!



Next, our new Award table takes you on a journey to mystic Egypt, where ancient secrets and intriguing challenges await. Originally developed for mobile platforms back in 2013, it’s available to play for free after reaching 2000 achievements. And if you’d rather skip the grind, you can purchase the "Achievement Table Pack" to jump right into the game.

But that’s not all. We’re also excited to introduce a brand-new game mode called Time Loop. We dreamed up this game mode back in the 2000s. After the 2010, we brought basic elements like rewind and slowdown to mobile players for Age of Pinball. Now, we’ve polished these elements and created this new game mode.

Within Time Loop, the Time Warp feature temporarily slows down the action, giving you extra control and precision during gameplay.



Another exciting feature is Reverse Flow, which rewinds time by two seconds, giving you the chance to correct mistakes. However, be warned the ball will behave differently, as if you’re entering a completely different timeline.



This new game mode is available on every pinball table, and there’s even a dedicated leaderboard for those competitive races. This extra content is available to everyone who owns the tables. Please note that the games in the Extra menu do not support this new mode.

Lastly, this update also includes various bug fixes to enhance your overall experience.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been hard at work on the latest Zaccaria Pinball update. We’re excited to share that this update includes several important bug fixes that have eliminated instability issues affecting some users. For example, we’ve resolved the problem where a black screen would appear forever during loading and the game would not continue, or where the Postal Redux Deluxe table would freeze during a random load. These fixes have greatly increased overall stability.

In addition to these fixes, we’ve implemented about 60 different bug fixes.

We’re also expanding our table lineup with two brand-new additions!

First up is the Future World Deluxe table. This new entry in our Deluxe series transports you to a futuristic, distant realm where you can explore new dimensions of the cosmic environment. Get ready to experience a whole new level of pinball action!

Next, we’re excited to introduce the City Golf table from our Award series, originally developed for mobile platforms back in 2013. As the name suggests, this table takes you to a vibrant golf course setting. It’s available to play for free after reaching 1800 achievements. And if you’d rather skip the grind, you can purchase the "Achievement Table Pack" to jump right into the game. This update brings back the nostalgic atmosphere of the early mobile days for our longtime fans.

We also have significant improvements on one of our classic Remake tables, Shooting the Rapids. Originally released back in 2016, this table has received a major visual and technical upgrade. We’ve optimized its decorative elements by increasing the polygon count and rethinking the design details, ensuring they better reflect the spirit of the original concept. Back then almost a decade ago we had to compromise on quality to support low-end devices. Today, we can now boldly enhance the visuals while still keeping the game accessible to everyone.

Hey Pinball Fans!

When we started implementing achievements in Zaccaria Pinball around 2016, we designed our achievement system so that every table would receive nearly the same number of achievements. We were committed to ensuring that achievements were enjoyable for everyone. Therefore, we created a varied mix of light and challenging experiences roughly corresponding to 25–50 achievement types. In 2016, the number of achievements grew extremely rapidly, and for a short while, we led Steam in achievement counts.

Unfortunately, games soon appeared where you could earn 100–200 achievements with just a click for a single event.

Around 2017, Steam decided that the maximum number of achievements in a game could only be 5000. We discussed with Steam that in our game, achievements aren’t merely empty, filler numbers that are artificially inflated, and we inquired whether it would be possible to have more than 5000 achievements. Unfortunately, our request was rejected.

Around 2020, when we reached the 5000 limit and could no longer create new achievements. We made the decision to modify our tables so that we would consistently remain within the 5000 limit. As Steam does not offer any other way to continue supporting this feature on our newly released tables. We decided to make wiser use of our remaining achievement quota. As a result, we are omitting the easier achievements.

Thus, our tables will include approximately 10–15 achievements.

This means you can now enjoy the full pinball experience on your Steam Deck without any issues. Whether at home or on the go, you can flip your way to high scores with smooth and seamless gameplay.

If you encounter any problems launching the game, please make sure to run Zaccaria Pinball with Steam Linux Native 1.0 (scout). This ensures that the native implementation is used, allowing the game to run properly on Steam Deck.
