Right out of the oven, here are the hottest new games on Steam from February and boy they are hot indeed. Put those games on the cooling rack and open a window, will you? Games with “sexual content,” (in the parlance of professional business speak) do occasionally crack the list of top selling new games but four is quite a feat. There are other trends to note as well: nearly half of the list are newly in Early Access or have just graduated from EA to a complete release. It was a big month for small and sexy games!

Click-click-click-click-clicking action-RPG Wolcen: Lords Of Mayhem made a big splash when it launched in February but has struggled with technical problems from the start, suffering all sorts of bugs, crashes, and server issues. While the makers, Wolcen Studio, have been slapping on patches, it’s still in a sorry state. Now they say they will prioritise fixing Wolcen over adding to it, dedicating the next four months to a plan named Operation Second Dawn.

Are you finding the Champion of Stormfall mode in Wolcen a bit slow going? If so, you may want to look into giving Expeditions a go. These are small gauntlets where you explore dungeons and grab lots of loot. It’s worth playing this mode a few times to try and get the most production out of it. (more…)

Congratulations, if you’re reading this, you’ve beaten the main campaign of Wolcen. From now on, it’s up to you to rebuild the city of Stormfall. It’s going to take a lot of money and a lot of primordial affinity to construct all of the facilities on offer. I warn you now, this is going to take a long time to complete, so get ready for the long haul. (more…)

While the skill tree in Wolcen is nowhere near as big as some other action RPGs, it is one of the more interesting to navigate. It allows you to customise your character into the type of character you want them to be. You could be a dedicated warrior that specialises in tanking damage and cleaving through enemy ranks, or a mixture of an assassin class with a bit of poison magic.

Wolcen’s final boss was for the longest time more than a bit broken. It was impossible to beat him if damaged him while he was transforming in the second or third phase. Now the game has been patched, he is able to be killed with ease, well, if you have the right build of course. (more…)

Picking up loot is most of what Wolcen is, but using those items effectively can make all the difference between having a useless character and an unstoppable build. There’s a lot to consider, such as what type of armour you should be equipping, which gems you should be putting into gem slots, and whether the hood custom skin you picked up hours ago looks better than the crown helmet you just picked up.

Wolcen has a lot of spells and abilities that you can assign to your character. But just using skills is scratching the surface, as Wolcen allows you to apply modifiers, changing how a skill works. These can be as small as increasing overall damage dealt, or major alterations that transform the skill into something else entirely.
