New Features
  • Super Weapon Shop - The shop found on the Church now only sells Weapons, but all at level 10! These are quite expensive, so you’ll need to save up your Iron if you want to be able to afford them.
  • Random Weapon Shops - These shops offer weapons for a lower price, but the weapon is only revealed once you buy it.
  • Random Item Shops (1 of each type) - These shops are similar to the Random Weapon shops, but instead of only weapons they offer 1 random item of each type: a Weapon, an Ability, and a Charm.
  • Paid health at the Haven - There are 3 additional Health Items in the Haven now, but these must be bought with Iron. The Refill barrel in the Haven no longer heals the Hero, but it does still refill his Health Flask.
  • Resurrection Item (reclaimed embers) - A new item can now be found in the Havens before the Church and the Final Boss. These ‘Reclaimed Embers’ can save the Hero at the point of death, giving him a second chance without having to start back at the Crypt.
  • One-Hit Protection - If the Hero remaining HP is over 20% of his maximum and at least 30HP, if he receives damage that would kill him he will instead be reduced to 1hp. This effect can only occur once every 30 seconds.
  • Wave Rooms - New Challenge Rooms! Some of the locking rooms found throughout Purgatory will now start empty and spawn waves of enemies. The doors will only open once all waves have been defeated.

Balance
  • Revolver reload speed increased.
  • The Mortar now has a larger damage radius but slightly longer reload time.
  • Greater Sin/Iron rewards for Outlaws, Lost Souls and Bosses.
  • Sin rewarded for destroying Injustices’ Ritual Pillars.

Bug Fixes
  • No more duplicate items at the Witch.
  • Armoury no longer shows grenade items that haven’t been unlocked.
  • The Legions found in the Canyon and Churchyard should now display a pre-attack ground warning, like the Legion found in the Mines does.
  • Reload time on weapon descriptions now shows a previously hidden reload delay.
  • Weapon descriptions now show stun damage as well as regular damage.
  • The Lantern ability now shows its Stun status effect duration.
  • Teleporting no longer works on exploding barrels, caged lanterns or hanging boxes.
  • Refilling health flask UI prompt says "Replenish health" and not "Replenish flask"
  • Mortar - Fixed an bug where it was not hitting multiple targets, not scaling damage correctly
  • Reload Delay now shown on the Weapon Details
  • Fixed an issue with Health Flask and interacting with Outlaw
  • Fixed an instance where player was unable to hit the exploding barrels with a spear/axe
  • No longer possible to use lasso on exploding barrels
  • Fixed an issue with enemy animation still playing "stunned" animation even though enemy is not stunned anymore
  • Mortar shot accuracy changes based on aiming - if you just pull the trigger without holding first the shots will be very inaccurate.
  • Mortar now damages environment objects (like cover, barricades and exploding barrels).

Gameplay Changes
  • Added Beacons to the Start and End of each level in Chapter 4. These can be examined to help you locate Righteous Souls.
  • If you miss a Righteous Soul no more will appear in the current run.
  • Curses from Lost Souls and Righteous Souls now stack.
  • The Molotov ability used by the Preacher and Outlaws now has a delay on the explosion.
  • The Creeping Gold trap in the mine now causes the burn status effect instead of damage. The effect is applied after 0.5 seconds (giving you a moment to get out of it).
  • Injustice is now guaranteed to drop the Hellraiser remnant
  • Remnant drop rate increased for rarer/tougher enemies
  • Massive reduction in the Sin cost of the more expensive unlocks.
Weapon and Ability Changes
  • Mine Ability - duration increased again, cooldown increased, additional mine dropped, trigger range slightly increased, distance thrown slightly increased
  • Mine Damage now scales with Resourcefulness level.
  • Trap duration increased
  • Workhorse - slight damage nerf
  • Escalator - damage increased
  • Splitter now splits into 3 fragments, increased from 2
  • Flaregun reload time significantly reduced.
  • Flaregun flares now last longer, will stick to enemies as well as walls, and their light allows
  • Range of melee knife abilities increased
  • Throwing knife damage increased
  • Trickshot ricochet damage increased.
  • The Splitter and Trickshot no longer lock-on, making it easier to ricochet shots.
  • Shield cooldown increased
GUI Changes
  • The Health Bar will now flash when at less than 20%, or less than 30hp.
  • Weapons now show ricochet damage in their descriptions (Splitter and Trickshot weapons) enemies to be locked on to.
  • Status Effect damage now scales correctly with item level.
Bug Fixes
  • Level Exit Narration should now be correct
  • Fixed two instances where the locking doors would not open after killing all the enemies.
  • Boss homing magic no longer passes through pillars
  • Heavy Cultist magic no longer passes through pillars
  • Fixed a bug where Mines were getting stuck on enemies.
  • Fixed a bug where the Witch Unlock Menu wouldn't open.
  • Fixed an issue where players could be hit while vaulting over cover, causing them to get stuck. This was mainly an issue during the Injustice boss battle.
  • Fixed an issue where The Hunt level would sometimes not generate correctly on a continued run, causing the player to fall through the floor.
  • Splitter ricochet damage now scales with aim duration (previously it would always be max damage)
  • Fixed the damage area of the shockwave attack used by some bosses.
  • The Injustice Boss will no longer get stuck on cover.
  • Mortar - now damages neutral targets (such as cover, barricades and exploding barrels)
  • Iron Costs - all weapons can now be afforded on the Crypt
  • Slomo effect will no longer play during the intro of a boss battle.

Howdy, gunslingers. There’s a new patch in town.

In our continuous efforts to improve West of Dead we’re happy to present Update 1.11.6.2. Featuring a variety of tweaks, improvements and squashed bugs.

In case you missed it:
Check out the Bone Orchard Update, which among other things introduced this strange fella.

Update 1.11.6.2 Changelog

  • Fixed a bug where “fog of war” on the minimap would return to already visited areas if the player resumed a run.
  • The Bloat (The exploding creature) now gives more warning when aggro'd, so hopefully will be avoidable at the bottom of ladders.

The Window Snipers (Turret Traps) in the Town have had some work done:
  • A light has been added to make them more obvious.
  • They can now be locked on to.
  • They now deactivate for 10-15 seconds after being shot (used to be 5-10 seconds).
  • To make them more obvious, they now open their window shutters when active and close them when inactive.

Exploding barrels have been tweaked
  • Slight damage increase.
  • Barrels now fall to the floor after being shot, a red warning circle is shown before they explode.
West of Dead - candyalien

Hey everyone,

So, we have been busy updating the game with the Bone Orchard Update and we also have some other fun stuff happening. We created a cool marketing campaign with Pringles where we created the character Frank the zombie!

He has been on a bit of journey, escaping the game live on a Twitch stream with UK streamer Leahviathan! And while Frank has loved being in the real world, he is getting ready to get back into the game - because you know, West of Dead is better than the real world... ;)

Frank will become a permanent part of Purgatory from this Wednesday when he returns to the game.

Anyways, if you are curious, this is how Frank escaped.
