2020 has almost come to an end, so it's time to share with you the results of the past year. This article will not be devoted to in-game novelties, but to the problems and issues our players faced in 2020 as well as our ways of overcoming them. There is quite a lot to tell you about!


At the beginning of the year, we often received comments that the game administration did not pay attention to user requests. In fact, the opinion of each player is always important for the whole team. On our social platforms, we regularly collect feedback on all aspects of the game. However, it is not always possible to identify all the errors and get sufficient information on them; so next year we plan to work on improving the system of processing your feedback.

We would like to encourage you yet again to share any information since it helps us to fix errors. Feel free to share anything that seems important! Thanks to your feedback we arrive at certain decisions regarding making tweaks to various game aspects. As you may have noticed, user surveys on various topics have become more frequent: they range from the results of in-game events to studying the reactions to certain modifications. In 2020, they helped us implement the changes that were important to the majority of players. For example:

• reworked in-game Battle Passes;
  
• rreturn of "Blitz" to the Ranked Matches;
  
• rexclusion of the SED from the Ranked Matches.

The matchmaking time still remains one of the pending issues. However, we have taken several steps aimed to improve the situation. One of them was the PvP maps rotation. We carried out a survey to find out your opinion about this course of action and it turned out that most of you were supporting the idea. After thorough analysis of the in-game statistics and the survey results we’ve decided to introduce several changes. The most popular maps remained in Quick Play on a permanent basis, while we began the weekly rotation of the less popular maps. At the same time, all PvP maps existing in the game remained available in the custom room.

Apart from that, we have updated the Game Center changing the sub-server selection option: some regions now remain hidden for a player depending on the ping value.

Finally, the pop-up that allows you to search for matches in all regions now appears after 30 seconds of queuing (this applies to the NA server). We’re closely monitoring the situation and will do our best to decrease the matchmaking time.


Players were disappointed with a wide variety of weapons available only for Kredits. Almost every day, there were requests to add more guns for the in-game currencies. In 2020, a crafting system was launched that allows you to assemble Kredit guns without investing money into the game.

By taking part in various game activities, you receive cards and, upon collecting the necessary set, you can exchange them for cool items. The arm line-up is quite diverse, so everyone will find something appealing. We would like to remind you that Crown random boxes with powerful weapons continue to be added to the in-game store. Each player can receive this currency by successfully completing PvE missions and special operations, as well as for some PvP activities, such as Ranked Matches.

Do not forget about various contests in which valuable prizes are regularly raffled off.


Battle Passes are one of the regular and highly anticipated activities in the game. Every season players get cool gifts and achievements. However, there used to be delays in task processing or complete loss of progress. Naturally, this fact greatly upset all players, so drastic changes and improvements were needed. This year, several Battle Passes have been integrated into the game client. Now progress does not get lost and is counted instantly. Moreover, it is more convenient to monitor the task progress.

In the course of the year, Battle Pass participants received a lot of excellent gifts including weapons, camos, achievements, and unique character skins.


In social networks, we often see complaints about poor hit damage registration in the game. We have investigated the issue and are preparing improvements in several areas. We will publish a separate article providing more detailed information on the matter. Stay tuned not to miss all the fun!


Most likely, almost no one now remembers that there used to be teleports in the game. Numerous improvements helped us get rid of them. Now you can hardly experience teleports if you have a stable Internet connection.


It's no secret that an online game cannot exist without technical support, and Warface is no exception. Technical support operators are qualified specialists who respond to reports and study each specific situation. If the cause of the problem is on the user's side, they receive recommendations for its settlement. If the issue is caused by problems on the game side, the support collects necessary data and forwards the information to the developers. You can learn more about the work of our customer support in the dedicated news.


Players using third-party software always cause a lot of inconvenience to the rest of users; that's why the fight against cheats is one of our top priorities. The constant anti-cheat improvement is carried out in three areas: MRAC fine-tuning, elimination of exploits, and general improvement of the game, as well as the development of new ways to combat violators. At the moment, there are fewer cheaters. Many of those who are called “cheaters” are actually “laggers” - players who get an unfair advantage not due to third-party software, but due to ping and the quality of connection to the server. We actively work in this direction as well. However, do not forget to report suspicious users in the game.
More improvements on the technical side of the game
Like in any other game, sometimes we have various technical failures that interfere with the gameplay. There were even critical issues that prevented some users from taking part in battles. The development team has done great job, and this year there have been introduced many technical improvements that helped to get rid of a number of problems. Let's recall the most important ones.

• In PvP, the speed of information exchange between the game client and the server (TickRate) has been significantly increased up to 60 sendings per second.
  
• The game no longer supports 32-bit systems.
  
• The game client now supports DirectX 11. This allows to take advantage of modern GPUs to ensure better quality and performance, as well as to eliminates several problems related to DirectX 9.
  
• We have introduced a set of advanced NVIDIA Reflex technologies that measure and reduce in-game system latency.
  
• Now in the Game Center, your region is selected automatically with the minimal delay. In other words, being matched with fighters from your region or a neighboring one provides for more comfortable gaming conditions.
  
• There appeared several tools for monitoring important technical metrics such as Internet connection and PC performance. These monitoring tools allow to select the optimal equipment settings for comfortable gaming.

We are not going to stop at what has already been achieved and will continue our work on improving the technical component of the game next year! Thank you for your continuous support and appreciation. We work hard to make your game experience in Warface most enjoyable and fun. Dear players!

In recent weeks, some of you have faced certain difficulties in the game - freezes. We are aware about the issue and actively work to fix it. Today we would like to share with you details on the problem and clear up the situation.


These are consequences of any peak loads of a particular process. An event occurs in the game, and its processing creates a load to which the process is not adapted. Externally, this manifests itself in the form of a short slowdown or stopping the display of an image or an action.

1. Freezes do not have one source: theoretically, they can appear in any process or in several ones; they can occur both on the game side and on the user equipment side.

2. One in-game change can not result in freezes. These are micro-difficulties that are created by a combination of various factors. Our game constantly gets updated, and it is difficult to predict how the modified processes will interact in the future. At some point, a critical mass of changes builds up, and issues become apparent.


The main difficulty in dealing with such failures is tracing their source. Taking into account that most players face occasional issues, it is very difficult to see a pattern. That's why it is important that users who encounter problems contact the support service and share the necessary data.

For our part, we are integrating a system into the game that allows us to track the source of the problem: peak loads. Considering that the game consists of hundreds of processes, and, hypothetically, a similar situation can be observed within each of them, the introduction of such monitoring tool is quite a lengthy and time-consuming process. We expect to get the first results after the January update.

After that, we will be able to more accurately predict the time of settling the problem.

At the moment, we have managed to identify two main circumstances when players face difficulties:

• freezes in the Inventory menu when scrolling through the lists of weapons and equipment;
  
• freezes in battles that appear randomly and without clear periods.

Regarding the first point, we are already working on possible fixes; as for the second one, it is necessary to implement the load monitoring system described above, otherwise the solution will not be complete.

A new hotfix for the December update has been installed on the Warface servers. It brings some changes and bug fixes. Read on to learn more and be the first to try out the modifications in the game.

• The PvP map selection in Quick Play has changed. This week's rotation features the following maps: Capture: ”Longway”; FFA: “Forest” and “Bunker”; Storm: “Blackwood Base”; Domination: “Armageddon”; TDM: “Motel”, “Crossing” and “ Trailer Park”. Details.
  
• An additional reward for the "Blackwood" Special Operation has been removed as the respective event was concluded.

• Fixed a bug due to which the volume of background sounds could decrease if the player used voice communication during a match.
  
• Fixed some causes of game client crashes.
  
• Fixed a bug due to which performance got worse in the Inventory, while the player was viewing the arsenal if the fighter's weapon was equipped with a weapon charm.
  Weapons and Gear
  
• AN-94 "Abakan": fixed a bug due to which the Basic Rifleman Scope was missing in the attachments menu.
  
• Hephaestus Flamethrower: fixed a bug due to which the visual effect of flames while shooting was not displayed in the first person view after the player overcame an obstacle.

Other

• Fixed a bug due to which in-game notifications were blocked and did not open if the player received a box with items when the Battle Pass level purchase screen was active.
  
• Fixed a visual error due to which there was no space after the character's nickname in the PvP chat.
  
• Fixed a visual bug due to which, at low screen resolutions, the fighter model crossed the character looks selection block on the character creation screen.
  
• Fixed a bug due to which the first characters typed by the player in the chat were not displayed if the chat had been opened with the "Enter" key.
  
• Fixed a bug which caused a visual overlay of the interface blocks if the player purchased 5 random boxes and left the store using the Esc button.

• Players may experience short-term freezes in combat.

We are happy to announce that the Brazilian player migration from Level Up to our regional dedicated sub-server has finally begun. It will last till January 2022. Please follow the instructions on the special page to complete the migration process. You will find the extensive migration FAQ on that page as well.



Everybody who transfers their previous progress to our game launcher will get exclusive gifts - a full "Absolute" body armor set and several themed weapons for a chosen class - when they first log into the game. Check out the full list of gifts on the migration page.



Please note: some migrating players own items that either are not currently present on our servers or have vastly different unlocking conditions. We will monitor the presence of such items in the inventories of the players and will decide on how to proceed with them at a later date. You can expect a separate publication on this topic in the coming weeks.

If you are a migrating player and an owner of a permanent VIP booster, it will remain in your inventory only till the end of the migration process in January 2022. After that it will be replaced with a VIP booster for the duration of one year.

The winter update is already live! It brings lots of festive content and long-awaited technical improvements: a reworked pocket system, heaps of new weapons, "Xmas Hangar" as well as other interesting changes. Feel the heat of winter combats in Warface!



AN-94 "Abakan"

In the game, the rifle fires two bullets in a semi-automatic firing mode. The weapon specs are perfectly balanced: excellent damage and rate of fire, good aiming range and the availability of a unique grip that reduces spread and increases the arm reloading speed. Details.



The owner of the golden AN-94 "Abakan" will be able to get a unique stripe for eliminating 999 opponents.



Karambit

This long-awaited novelty is a unique knife with a curved blade sharpened on the inside. In the game, the knife resembling a tiger's claw has a unique animation and offers excellent characteristics on par with the already familiar melee models. The Karambit is available in two versions - the golden and the regular ones. The former is distinguished by slightly improved specs that will come in handy in close combat. In addition, the Karambit can be equipped with several exclusive skins. A box with camos will appear in the game later. Details.

Benelli M4 Custom

In the game, this arm offers a semi-automatic firing mode. Anyone armed with a Benelli M4 Custom is capable of easily eliminating any opponent with one single shot. PP-19-01 "Vityaz"

In the game, the new gun sports controlled recoil, excellent damage and good rate of fire. Moreover, it can be equipped with a unique silencer that does not reduce damage. In some respects, the PP-19-01 "Vityaz" outperforms the AMB-17, but its advantages are offset by a slightly reduced hip-fire accuracy, as well as a smaller magazine and ammo. Details.

"Snow Leopard" Series

A special winter series "Snow Leopard" has been designed for the best fighters who regularly get breathtaking victories and passionately eliminate competitors in the struggle for the top positions in the leagues. The weapon frames of the new series are decorated with an image of a large cat and an imitation of scars left by its claws which remind the enemy about sharp blades hid in the soft yet mighty paws. These beasts of weapons will suit the most bloodthirsty shooters!

Xmas Hangar

Is this what you expected? We have updated the Christmas version of one of the most popular maps in the game. Snowball shootouts or Candy Knife battles will provide the right kind of a festive vibe. The Hangar is a great place to enjoy the usual dynamic gameplay and misbehave a bit.



Your task is invariably simple: destroy as many opponents as possible using any available means. Hide a mine behind a nice gift, make your enemies really happy with the surprise! But be on the alert - watch out and look under your feet. Rumor has it that iced containers are very slippery. In addition, upon completing a match on this map, you will see a festive background on the statistics screen decorated with gifts and a Christmas tree.



Naturally, wins on this map will be rewarded with special achievements. Collect the festive set and decorate your profile!



"Glacier" Series

There can be no celebrations without cool arms. Warface now offers a festive weapon series "Glacier", which you can earn right now in a special event. The guns boast original looks and a colourful frosty animation. Beware, the arms are ice-cold, do not forget to put on gloves!

Festive Weapon Charm

You've probably noticed many little ducklings in various locations in Warface. And this is not for nothing! Ducks are cute little Easter eggs in the game. And now one of them is now available among the weapon charms. By mounting it on a gun, you will receive +100 to the holiday mood and +100 to luck in battles.



Festive Achievements

A special set of achievements awaits true fans of Warface and winter holidays lovers. These distinctions will help you keep the memory of cool events for a long time. We will tell you how to get the entire coat of arms later, stay tuned.



Festive Safe House

Not only game maps are now filled with Christmas spirit. A very important place for every soldier - the Safe House - has also changed for the winter holidays. Christmas wreaths, gift boxes, festive decorations, snowballs, fairy lights, a snowman and even reindeer images have been added to its decor.




Reworked Pockets

Now you can take two smoke grenades into battle instead of just one. The implementation is simple: now the player will be able to customize two support slots (the former "Smoke grenade" and "Flashbang grenade"). The total number of slots has not changed and remained the same, the customization possibility has been added only to the "Support" pockets. Thus, this will allow you to choose which set of additional grenades is more important in combat - a flashbang and a smoke grenade or two smoke grenades.

In addition, some visual changes have been made to the equipped item information panel that is displayed in a match. Now the number of consumables is shown on the center panel, and not on the side panel as it used to be.

"Delete all" button

A long-awaited and very necessary button is already activated in the notification box. Now you can forget about the routine manual deleting of notifications - pressing one button will quickly save you from unnecessary spam. Please note: notifications with a choice option (for example, clan invitations or friend requests) cannot be deleted using this button.

Updated Metrics

The server TickRate measurement units have been changed (from milliseconds to hertz). Previously, with a server value of 60 Hz, the client displayed 16.6 ms - these are correct and equivalent indicators. The value of 16.6 ms comes from the formula: 1000 ms / 60 Hz, it reflects information on the data exchange speed between the server and the game client. The user ultimately saw this value on his/her screen. It attracted attention and was interpreted ambiguously, so now the measurement units upon switching to hertz will become more understandable and obvious for each player.

Automatic DirectX 11 Support Detection

Now the Game Center automatically detects DirectX 11 support when the game client starts. If your PC supports this function, the client will be launched with the specified setting. Otherwise, the client will start with DirectX 9 support. We remind you that you can also change it manually in the game settings in the Game Center.


Important

Exchange rate tweaks in the crafting system

The prices in the crafting system have been changed. The exchange of extra cards for free ones for the in-game currencies is now cheaper: 7500 Warface Dollars and 75 Crowns; and you will need to spend 5 cards less to get a free card free of charge.

• Improved calculation of the aimed fire direction. Now watching other players shooting, the user will be able to see the correct trajectory. It will coincide with the direction on the server - this will reduce the number of visual errors related to incorrect shooting display.
  
• The Christmas versions of the maps "Xmas Icebound", "Residence Xmas", "Phantom Zone" and "Xmas Oil Depot" are back in the rotation.
  
• The music theme has been replaced with the festive one.
  
• Added themed "Special" class items.
