WWE 2K20

Lycra-clad glitchfest WWE 2K20 suffered a typically tough start to the new year yesterday morning when a freshly-discovered bug began crashing games as the clock struck midnight - 00:00, 1st January 2020.

Numerous players reported being kicked from various WWE 2K20 modes and unable to get back in as soon as the new year rolled around (thanks, Kotaku). Ironic, really, for a game with 2020 in its title.

Fans soon realised the problem was widespread - and that a rather hilarious temporary fix was possible by simply setting your console's internal clock back to 2019. Many compared the issue to the infamous Millennium bug, albeit 20 years late.

2K has apologised after a social media hack of its various accounts was used to post racist comments.

During the hack, the official accounts were used to post a number of offensive messages. The Facebook page for WWE 2K saw its profile picture changed to the logo for AEW Wrestling, and its cover image changed to a picture of wrestler Chris Benoit.

WWE 2K20

WWE 2K20 arrived last week in a state that could charitably be described as shambolic - and the only real positive for fans that paid good money to experience the whole shoddy enterprise was that it managed to be utterly broken in ways that were frequently hilarious. But with the mirth now subsiding, publisher 2K is finally, as it previously promised, getting on with the business of sorting out its whole sorry mess with the game's first big patch.

WWE 2K20 is, for context, the first game in the series to be primarily handled by NBA studio Visual Concepts, with previous entries being joint efforts by Visual Concepts and Japanese developer Yuke's. The result of Visual Concepts' solo toils, it's fair to say, didn't leave a great first impression, with the many, many broken elements of the experience being documented in a Reddit thread generously titled "WWE 2K20 is an absolute disaster".

Things were bad enough that Sony even agreed to refund purchases on PS4.
