It's Lunar New Year, and for the first time ever I'm commemorating it with my friends and maybe we will throw some salad! I'm excited about the year of the snake, I feel this will be a good one for everyone, no matter the previous news we shared with you guys here.


Let's hope to post this for the next 12 years and complete the whole cycle of VvtZ Zodiacs represented by the Chinese wheel!

In other news about what we're planning for this year ahead:



We opened a Patreon that will bring a lot more light on our world's lore and how we do game development, so if you're interested in the stories of our games and in starting your game development career this year (or maybe you're a game developer already!), there'll be load of relevant information about our journey and also tutorials!




We started last week showcasing some unrevealed concept artworks of Keylocker's areas never seen before, and also a how to make an rpg in 10 days tutorial by Anglerman, and we plan to bring way more content weekly for patrons. Patrons also get access to an exclusive discord where we share our secret WIPs that only the patrons eyes can see!!!

We are today announcing a new game we just released for Christmas, Ginger's Letter to Santa, although this game has a bit of a bittersweet story behind it. As many of you are aware, Keylocker has not recouped as of today, leaving us on a big financial pit. The whole game's industry has been on a freefall for a while, lots of layoffs and companies going bankrupt. AI is threatening jobs as we speak.

This game is a big gift to fans who supported our work, everyone who bought Keylocker and patiently waited for updates, anyone who remained loyal to us, to those who wrote positive reviews, bought our previous games to gift to friends, or to anyone who ever talked about us in a good light out there and spread the word. To anyone who visited us at PAX, Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, Bitsummit, Brazil Game Show, you are incredible people who completely saved me when I was at my worst times. I actually started game development after my dad died and it's saved me back then and still saves me to this day, there's nothing that makes my day more than your kindness towards us all these years. This is such a small gift for how much you've given us and it's something I'd like to even give for free, but on our current situation, that's not possible.

I would like to be sincere with people, not that I'm one to hide anything from you! This game might also be our last game as of date if things continue the way they are for our little company. Everyone working for Moonana works for a wage, although our wages weren't great, I was able to pay everyone wages for years now, which is a miracle for a small indie company. We're encountering problems getting investment for our newest title, and getting investment for that could save us for the next years to come of that game's development and while we wait for Keylocker to pick up. Getting investment for that game could also save Moonana altogether. If you are wondering why updates for Keylocker have been a bit slow, that's why! We're spending a lot of our time trying to come up with solutions for our current money situation, because we want everyone to be able to continue working properly, and keep their passion alive. I can't imagine Anglerman doing anything other than creating little creatures and little game systems and sitting on his piano chair like a gremlin every day doing what he loves most: Games. Or bear, what would bear do, even? Man has been literally saving lives with his music for so long that not working on that would completely kill the sparkle on his eyes when he comes up with that one melody that lives in our minds rent free forever. All and everyone who works now with Moonana and want to join us in the future, like Tara (we really have a big dream of making Tara into an official worker if we get that promised investment for Clowned King). There's just a lot of dreams we have for this company. We poured a lot of those dreams into this game. Is this game about going bankrupt? Absolutely not, this game is about dreams, and christmas miracles, and making peace with each other regardless of our differences.

So, we sincerely hope you will enjoy this game despite of our struggles, although I wanted to be sincere with you guys. As of now we will continue to pursue all avenues we can to keep the dream alive, and we won't give up. There are still many publishers to contact, and we want to find the one who is worthy of our work, and worthy of our fandom. You will be the first to know whether we're successful or not, and with this little game, please do share it with your friends. We're releasing it during the Steam sale so this game's visibility is completely blocked from Steam front page. Having the fans sharing this is all we have now.

Steam Next Fest is coming up now and we've been making some announcements recently such as Keylocker coming to all consoles, and there's a new Steam Next Fest Demo up for Keylocker right now! In fact, we will be live on June 12th at 11 am PT on the Keylocker Steam page with a Demo playthrough commentated by myself, Anglerman and Elektrobear! Here's a screenshot to prove it.

I'd like to talk about a project that we plan to work on after Keylocker is complete! That is Dragon Versus The Zodiac, exploring the world of the Chinese Zodiac, that we're announcing today in homage to the year of the dragon!






Dragon Versus The Zodiac initially follows the Rat and Cat (an ostracized figure of the Chinese Zodiac). Both are mortal enemies united only to free the Dragon who has been sealed for more than 100 years on the Tree of Fates in the realm of Bunny, to save her from the devious bunnies.




The Protagonist is Dragon, and Bunny is the first antagonist of the game. You will also see the Rooster, Tiger, Pig, Horse and Snake’s realms. This game is programmed as a side project we will work together with our next mainline games, so it will be smaller than the others, but it will probably still be packed with content if you know us.



The gameplay and art style are similar to Virgo Versus The Zodiac and we plan to develop this game on the same engine as VvtZ, with some improvements from the Keylocker engine. In this game you unlock a Dragon Turn where your party will 'transform' into its Zodiac animal form.



Although there’s nothing much to show and we’re not really developing this game atm, I wanted to share our plans for the future and our excitement about exploring the Chinese Zodiac lore. You will hear here first when we have a steam page and an actual game to show!

Thank you for the patience as we've been working on fixing a couple major bugs that showed up after the update patch. Thank you as well for the thorough bug reports and attached save files, they make our lives a lot easier!

The following has been fixed on Update 2.0.1:

Today is the most awaited day of the year when Moonana releases that update promised on the Crowdfunding Campaign thousands of years ago, to prove not only this amazing team has excellent memory, but we are the keeper of promises, no matter how long it takes. This update contains the following:


Enter the memories of Aquarius, Scorpio, Libra and Gemini and enjoy a new window into the perspectives of these Zodiac. As Aquarius, board her airship and discover what happened while Virgo rode the Megalithic Train to Leo's Golden Colosseum. As Scorpio, set sail down the River Styx and traverse through the Unholy Cabaret. As Libra, enter the Astrological Court and oversee the 101st Eye Removal Tournament. As Gemini, return to the Dioskourai Library to clean up the virus infestation and discover the truth of the Indexers plot.



In this special challenge mode, Virgo, Spica and Algol will take on the Zodiac in the sequence of their appearance in game. Before each fight you will be given a chance to upgrade and equip your characters with a set amount of resources at your disposal. Each victory will see your resources increase until you've successfully overcome all Zodiacal forces. Prepare your strategy, make your build and defeat the Zodiac in this special mode which is sure to test even the most veteran Virgo Versus The Zodiac player.

The game is currently out everywhere as well, you guys can stop asking me while I withheld all this important information!!! So make sure to get it on all of your preferred platforms.

HELLO, MY BELOVED HERETICS OF THE COSMOS!

I am Nana Moon, lead director at Moonana, you might have met me in 2022 when I showed "Keylocker | Turn Based Cyberpunk Action" at PAX East, Bitsummit and Gamescom as well! When I visited the US for PAX, it was my first trip there and I was welcomed by fans who were meeting me for the first time. Some came just to see Keylocker because they liked Virgo Versus The Zodiac, some were there to try out demos and stumbled upon our booth and fell in love for the first time. I was even sitting, eating my food by myself at some point, and someone asked to take a picture with me, I got very emotional about it! Who would've thought!

Having the chance to travel again in 2022, and this time to the US, Japan and Europe has allowed me to meet so many of you who cared for my game and I am very thankful to have such dedicated fans.

With that being said, now I have excellent news for all of you: Virgo Versus The Zodiac will be out for the Nintendo Switch, Playstation and Xbox on August 23rd, 2023, the beginning of the astrological Virgo season, digitally. We are also including new free content such as: extra Zodiac Memories where you can play as some of the Zodiacs that didn't have dedicated realms and Boss Rushes with all the Zodiac Bosses overhauled to offer more challenge. This content will be released at the same time for the PC version of the game.

I've partnered with Serenity Forge who will be supporting us with publishing and marketing efforts, as well as some other things which we are not quite ready to talk about yet!
