So now is as good a time as any to look at some of the gorgeous concept art for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, no?

The following character concepts and environment pieces were drawn by various artists and at various stages of the game's production.

Artists responsible include Jim Murray, Brian Dugan, Theirry Doizon (who we've featured here before), Trong Nguyen and Sébastien Larroudé, while the lion's share of pieces in this gallery were drawn by Richard Dumont and Eric Gagnon.

There have been tiny bits of this sequence shown in previous trailers, but this new clip showing singleplayer gameplay from Uncharted 3 gives us the entire part where Drake learns the perils of flying economy.

Uncharted 3 will be out in November 2011. Which is great! Because, you know, nothing else is coming out in November 2011 to distract me from it or anything.

Call of Duty® (2003)

A Remote Controlled Airplane Took This Real Call of Duty PhotoCall of Duty XP is an official COD gaming event that promises to do more than let players play Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. They'll also get a shot at running a real version of The Pit time course and experiencing the Scrapyard in-game map.

Snapped by website Pro Paintball, this is an overhead shot of the Call of Duty XP paintball field, built by the Hollywood Sports Paintball Park.

Like something out of modern warfare, a remote controlled airplane was used to take this photo.

As previously posted, the real world COD maps look to be the convention's highlight. There will be a full-scale version of the Scrapyard map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer. There is also The Pit time course from Modern Warfare 2, complete with pop-up wooden enemies and civilians.

Call of Duty XP kicks off Sept. 2 in Los Angeles. Here is a first look at what to expect (minus the people—expect them!).

The Five Boroughs of the Mushroom KingdomNew York isn't like other cities. It's confined to a limited space, has clearly-defined areas and a multitude of rich and varied cultures. So saying it's like a video game world isn't drawing too long a bow.

Neither is drawing the city in the style of Super Mario World, as Jesse Eisemann has done here. Aside from Queens and Midtown, it's a green-and-blue delight, just the kind of place you'd want to wander around in a weird suit and jump on the locals' heads.

The pic above is just part of the complete image; to see the whole thing (it's an animated piece) hit the link below.

Sony Bringing A Buttload of New PS Vita Games to the Tokyo Game ShowThe Tokyo Game Show hasn't kicked off yet, but if Sony's unannounced line-up is any indication, you might as well call the show the PS Vita Game Show.

Sony is bringing a bunch of titles to TGS, which isn't that absurd. The Sony booth is always packed with games.

What is worth noting is there will be 18 unannounced PS Vita titles. Eighteen! That's a healthy number, especially for a portable that still isn't out. There will be three unannounced PS3 games, and one unannounced PSP title.

The Last Guardian isn't listed as one of the announced titles Sony will be bringing to TGS. No doubt there'll be a new trailer or something.

Was the Sony Takedown Looting Rioters or Professional Crooks? In early August, as riots raged through north London, the Sony Enfield distribution center burned. Three million CDs and tens of thousand DVDs were lost in the fire. At the time, it was said looters made off with game consoles.

According to the Telegraph, evidence suggest that this wasn't mere looting. This was a heist, carried out by pros.

It's believed that a well organized gang used the riots as a distraction to raid the guarded Sony distribution center. Sources in the security industry said that specialized cutting equipment was used for up to two hours to take down a security fence before the break-in. A fleet of vans apparently drove in and were loaded up with gear.

Then, these robbers supposedly lured other roving gangs to loot the building, thus, covering up their tracks. "By the time a crowd of youths were seen inside the warehouse helping themselves to stock including games consoles," the Telegraph wrote, "the original robbers had already left the scene."

In early August, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe told Kotaku that it was believed SCEE was not affected by the looting.

Five males (ages ranging from 17 to 23) were arrested for the looting and arson. They are currently out on bail.

Neither Metropolitan Police nor Sony commented on these latest findings.

If you've missed the first two games in the series, and don't have time to catch up on large necks and dead wives and giant worms, this new trailer for Gears of War 3 gets you instantly up to speed on humanity's war against the Locust.

It's short. So short, in fact, you get to gloss over most plot points and get straight to the point people were fighting, then everything went underwater, now they're still fighting, only it's against someone else.

And that, folks, is all you need to know for Gears 3!

Manhandling the Sony Tablet and Explaining Its Fake ButtonsSony's first new PlayStation tablet is going on sale later this month. To hold you over until then, how about some photos of the tablet and its clamshell cousin, in the flesh?

Website Game Watch Impress got up and close with both tablets: the tablet-looking Tablet S and the DS-looking Tablet P. Both are PlayStation certified. Note the PlayStation logos on the cases.

I always prefer photos like this over those Photoshopped product images.

Website Famitsu also has photos that explain the button layout for the Tablet P.

Tablet S will cost US$500. Tablet P, which will go on sale in November, currently does not have a pricetag.

Sony's First PlayStation Tablet Out This Month, Costs $500To go with its PlayStation Phone, Sony will soon be releasing a pair of wild and wacky PlayStation-certified tablet computers as well. Which, as of today, have most of their release info locked down.

The S1, which is the more traditional tablet of the two, will go on sale later this month for $500. It's also had a stupid name change, the perfectly sci-fi "S1" giving way to "Tablet S". Which sounds like medication for old people.

The S2, which is the DS-looking device, will go on sale in November. No word on its price yet, but it too has had a name change, and will now be known as Tablet P. Same joke as above.

Both tablets will be PlayStation-certified, meaning they can legally download PS1 games from Sony's marketplace.

He Wanted to Burn Them. Burn Them All Dead.Nico Nico Douga is one of Japan's most popular video sites. Users broadcast livefeeds of everything from gaming events, underage dancing, to stupidity. But what went down last night in Tokyo's Shibuya during a "Nico Live" event was terrifying.

Named after the famous New York City landmark, Shibuya's Chelsea Hotel is not a hotel, but a concert venue. On August 31, the venue was playing host to a free Nico Nico Karaoke event.

At around 8:45pm, 23 year-old Satoshi Shimano entered the Chelsea Hotel, carrying a gasoline type liquid. Shimano began spraying it around the basement club, apparently saying, "I'm going to kill you!"

Later, Shimano told the police, "I was going to burn them to death."

Other reports describe Shimano unleashing tear gas. One 17-year-old club goer recalled the entire basement going white.

The forty or so club patrons panicked, and staff stopped Shimano before he could light the gasoline ablaze. The event played out in real time, with club goers tweeting pictures and describing what happened, with some believing it was a terrorist attack.

No one was seriously injured, but several club goers felt ill due to the fumes and were rushed to the hospital.

Shimano, an Osaka native, is the same Satoshi Shimano who hit a random four-year-old in the head with a hammer back in 2005, telling police, "I wanted to kill someone. It didn't matter who, except for old people." At that time, Shimano was a minor.

The whole episode brings back horrible memories of the 2008 Akihabara Massacre.

Japan is one of the safest countries in the world. Things like this man, who has obvious mental problem, not being rehabilitated to enter society give me pause. The Tokyo Game Show is only weeks away, and it's sometimes easy for visitors to forget that, yes, Japan has its fair share of craziest—and shit can get scary quick.

Earlier this summer, Nico Nico Douga opened its own club, an updated version of the legendary Velfarre.

Culture Smash is a daily dose of things topical, interesting and sometimes even awesome—game related and beyond.
