Gunslinger Update
It’s High Nooo.. ahem, I mean.. it’s time for another new update, Dungeon Knight! This new update is focused on Classes. With big additions and changes to current classes and for the first time since the introduction of classes, a whole New class; The Gunslinger. All the classes and weapons and pets will now make use of the new elemental damage system, adding buff and debuffs to you and your enemies. This update also comes with some life improvements, including an interaction helper, quick setup options and height calibration.



Added: The Gunslinger [NEW CLASS]
From the Westlands hails a legendary Hero. He is so quick on the trigger that his own shadow still loses in a duel. So deadly that not even fish in a barrel are safe from him. Grab your horse and let’s go to ye ol’ town road; it is time to introduce the Gunslinger. A new class in VR Dungeon Knight. While the normal knight goes in with a sword and shield, this class will focus more on the guns and rifles. With his high movement speed, he can easily gain some distance between him and the target. Guns in his loadout are faster and deadlier than ever before, but power comes with a price. Since this cowboy is to cool for armor, he is also the most vulnerable to damage. But on the upside: he got a really cool hat!

Abilities and Statistics
  • Fastest in the West: Movespeed up 30%
  • Gunslinger: Shoot Ranged weapons 35% Faster.
  • One in the chamber: Load rifles 33% Quicker.
  • Ready to duel: All Rifles are automatically reloaded in each new room.
  • Not so fast: Projectiles Cripple and Bleed Enemies.
  • Very Light Armor: takes 40% extra Damage.



Added: Elemental System
You don’t need to have an arrow on your head to benefit from the elements. After a lot of work behind the scenes, you can now make use of buffs and debuffs in the form of the elemental system. Burn your enemies to a crisp with fire, make them bleed over time, or slow them down with freeze. Weapons can now have all kinds of different elemental powers, Not only weapons use this elemental system: it is also possible to add buffs to classes, enemies, and pets.

Added Elemental Damage
  • Fire: Damage over time.
  • Ice: Slow and nullify enemy resistances (projectile damage and magic damage).
  • Bleed: Damage over time and cripple (Slow).







Added: Class Reworks
Classes are a big part of VR Dungeon Knight. You can buy and change them in the hero chamber. Adjust your skills point accordingly, and pick out matching weapons for the perfect build. Yet, we still think that could be more distinct with each class. Make them feel more unique and suited for different playstyles. That is why we gave each class a good rework. We changed up their stats and implemented the new Status system. They now give you different buffs and debuffs. We think that with this rework, each class will feel more different to play. These changes are a test, so more might follow in the future.





Changed: Assassin [CLASS]
Assassins are now more focused on stealthy gameplay. Making them faster, and harder to detect. Silent and very deadly from behind, especially with the use of daggers. They do take some extra damage, so use your skills wisely.


Abilities and Statistics
  • Fast as the Wind: Movement increased by 33%.
  • Shadow walk Sneaking increased by 33%.
  • Assasinate: High damage while in stealth.
  • Silent but deadly: Greatly reduces noise.
  • Sharpen my blade: Daggers Apply Bleed and Cripple effect.
  • Light Armor: Takes 25% damages



Changed: Warrior [CLASS]
Warriors are fierce fighters. They are the first to go into battle equipped with large swords and maces. Battle-hardened by all the previous fights, they can take a lot more damage than most heroes. While a bit slower, their divine protections help them shield incoming projectiles.

Abilities and Statistics
  • True Survivor: Incoming Damage Reduced by 10%
  • Take that! 15% More Counter Damage
  • Mighty Rage: Blunt Weapons break enemy blocking.
  • Divine protection Blocks 1 projectile per room. (Arrows, small magic projectiles, throwing weapons).
  • Light Armor: Movespeed reduction 8%



Changed: Ranger [CLASS]
No one can escape their arrows. They retain absolute focus in the heat of battle. Rangers are masters of the bow. Drawing infinite arrows quiver to rain down death upon their enemies.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Silver Points: Arrows & Bolts do Double Sneak Damage.
  • Ready your Bow: All Quivers have unlimited stock.



Changed: Thief [CLASS]
The Thief class is a master of stealth. While not so deadly as the assassins, they use their cunning skills and strategies to gain the upper hand. Plus they will get a good amount of gold for each kill they make.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Child of the Night: Sneaking increased by 20%
  • Swift feet: Movespeed increased by 33%.
  • Panther's Prowl: Sneak Damage increased by 25%
  • Tricks of the trade: Enemies almost can't hear you.
  • Bounty Hunter: Gets gold from each Kill.



Changed: Dungeon Knight[CLASS]
The Dungeon Knight is a true Tank. Fighting for the glory of all the Dungeon Knight before him. His dwarven forged armor can take a lot of damage in the heat of battle. Combined by his holy protection, he is a force to be reckoned with. However, his strength is no use in stealth.

Abilities and Statistics
  • I'm your shield: Incoming Damage Reduced by 16%
  • Heavy blow: Blunt & Two-handed weapons break enemy blocking
  • Build like a Tank..: Movespeed Reduction 16%
  • Holy protection : Blocks 4 projectiles per room (Arrows, small magic projectiles, throwing weapons).
  • ..subtle like an Elephant: Enemies spot you quicker and Sneak Damage reduced by 40%





Added: Life improvements
For this next part. we would like to share a few insights into the production of VR Dungeon Knight. It started all in 2017, as a personal project of me (Thomas). It is a VR game that I’m building with a great amount of passion, something that never changed over the years. One thing that did change over the years, is the size of the projects. Each update adds a lot of new features and content, but also a lot of news frameworks, scripts, and systems. Since the game is now 3 years old, a lot of the previous updates are built on old frameworks and code, dating from the beginning of the development process. Not only the games has grown a lot since the beginning, but also our knowledge and experience. The VR community and games have grown as well, which makes us want to reach for even higher quality levels.

With each update closing in on the 1.0 version of VRDK. We want to aim for a fully polished version of the game once we hit that mark. This means that we putting a lot of time behind the scenes of VRDK. There is a lot of old code to clean up before we can build in new systems, including a combat rework, AI and multiplayer systems. This is taking a LOT of work and It's not something I can show just yet. (Very WIP). With this rework in code, I hope to make development for dungeon knight a lot quicker and smoother to add more advanced content to the game even after the release of a 1.0 version.

Here are some small few changes with a focus on life improvements and polish:




Added: Interaction interface
This new Interaction interface system helps to find interactable, like doors, keys, and items.
When an interaction is closeby, a little UI icon shows up where to press with your controller.
It's very minimal and only shows up in handy locations. The icons will fade away from a distance.

The interaction icon shows up with:
  • Weapon Wall Pickups
  • Unlock Chest
  • Option room options
  • Doors
  • Skillpoint addition buttons
  • Hero Mode Option
  • Items





Added: Height Calibration
It is now possible to (re) Calibrate your player height. This option is now added to the options chamber. Height Calibration is a must for VR games and will make the game feel a lot better. This new feature makes it easier to reach for doors, grab things from the floor and even allows seated gameplay!

Added: Quick Setup
We made some small adjustments to the quick setup menu at the beginning of the game. We reworked some of the explanations and features and we added the option for smooth turning.




Removed: Panther VR Event
The Mages Council of Aldun have concluded their research and closed the portal to a strange dimension. The Panther VR limited-time event has come to an end. The entrance to the Beta labs facility has been closed off. For more exploration and stealth action, check out our new game: Panther VR

Removed: Panther VR Weapons
With the closing of the Portal also comes an end to other dimensional weapons. The Gohl-s and pipe wrench have been removed from the game. It is no longer possible to find these weapons, but they will stay in your weapons belt if you have them equipped. Mage Uldo stated: “I’m glad they are gone. My beard has finally grown back.”.

Added: Tribal Bow
Crafted from the wood of the Ancient tree. Blessed by a powerful shaman, cursed by a witch doctor. Over the years, this bow crossed a lot of different hands and tribes. Still containing the power and abilities bestowed upon its previous owners. Burn your enemies with fire, or freeze them with the power of ice. It’s is the first weapon that makes use of the new elemental system. A powerful bow with the ability to switch the elemental damage between fire and ice.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Damage: 250
  • Can switch between normal Arrows, fire & Ice. (Elemental arrows don't stealth kill).
  • Fire: Does damage over time (Stacks).
  • Ice: Lowers resistances of enemies and slows them. (Stacks).
  • Fire and Ice effects can affect how some enemies behave.



Added: Mace of Blades
What is more deadly than a Mace? A mace made of blades! That what they came up with at the Zorda Blacksmith Academy. With a design worthy of a hero, but the rudeness and power of mace directly to the face. A mace that handles like a sword! Or perhaps a sword that handles like a mace?

  • Legendary: Bleeding & Cripple Effect.
  • Hidden: This weapon must be found to unlock.



Added: Slayer of Orclings
It is the bane of all Orclings. A sword that turns all Orcs green with fear. The Orcling Slayer is a weapon that specializes in chopping down ugly Orcs. So if you hate them as much as the Dungeon Knights of Old, then now is your time to fight back! Find an Orcling slayer in a Dungeon near you today!

Abilities and Statistics
  • Damage 70.
  • Weight 40.
  • Legendary: Evaporates Orclings.
  • Hidden: This weapon must be found to unlock.

  • 175 Attack Damage
  • Hunting: This pet hunts down enemies in a fight
  • Storing: Can carry 1 equipment.

  • Has 2 belt slots instead of 1 for equipment storing.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed Pets now don't interfere with enemy pathfinding.
  • Fixed a glitch where pets were invisible to the other online player.
  • Fixed a glitch where pets still attacked even if you did not have one.
  • Fixed the issue making weapons invisible

Panther VR Special [LIMITED TIME ONLY!]

With great pleasure, we announced our new game: Panther VR! We launched a Kickstarter for the game and received a lot of positive feedback and support from our amazing community! While It is quite some time till the Early Access release of Panther VR, we still wanted to take the time to thank our fans and supporters while also giving you a little sneak peek of Panther VR.

We present to you: The Panther VR Special! A mini update for VR Dungeon Knight! Get a small Sneekpeak of Panther VR and explore the Beta Labs Facility and try out the Gohl-S, a new silenced weapon from Panther VR! It's a small update, but hopefully, it will give you a taste of Panther VR, or at least you will have a cool new gun for your collection! PS. it wouldn't be a VRDK update without an extra secret!

Added: Beta Labs Facility

The Mages Council of Aldun found a mysterious hourglass filled with great mystery. Legend says it can control the fabric of time itself. The mages tried to control its power, but have opened a portal to a different time and place. What is this new strange location? People behind the portal seems to have harnessed the power of electricity in small boxes. They use small powered machines to cure illness and to look at the pictures of cats. What a truly fascinating time.

Explore a small portion of the Betal Labs Facility and find your new weapon!

Check out this mysterious purple glow in the Main Chamber!







Added: Gohl-s [Weapon]

We have another report from the Mages of Aldun. They found a mysterious weapon in this new dimension. It looks like a flintlock pistol, only without the need to reload after a shot. It seems to have a small metal pouch for bullets. Even stranger is that you don't even hear it shoot. It looks like a perfect weapon to sneaks up on an orc. Mage Uldo even stated: "They shot my beard right off, and I didn't even notice it!"

You can now find and use the Gohl-S. A standard GUILD handgun issued to Panther agents. Equipped with a silencer, it's the perfect gun for a thief.

Added: Wrench [Weapon]

This new dimension keeps on giving. The Mages found some kind of legendary weapon. It's bright red, with a perfect grip and a good balance of weight. It seems to be crafted from a unfamiliar kind of metal. Strong yet still lightweight. The Arc Mage himself claims that this weapon must've had a glorious purpose in this unknown world.

You can also wield the powerfull Wrench. Well, actually, it's just an ordinary pipe wrench with no special powers. (just don't tell the Arc Mage). Still good for smacking an orc on the head!

I hope you are all doing great!

The Pet's & Beasts update was a blast and I can't wait to work on even more cool content requested by you guys! The pets are really cute and helpful and I loved seeing all the pictures and clips about them :) I get suggestions all the time and feel free to share your ideas for future updates. That's how this update came to be.

Now I want to share something with you guys, I have been working on VR Dungeon Knight for a long time and it's in an awesome place at the moment. Content is dropping at a nice pace and the game gets more polished every update.

One of those reasons why is Wolfdog Interactive. They helped me with a lot of the new rooms in the game and took over most of the social and promotional tasks I had.
Making the last year of dungeon knight more incredible than ever. I think the game is in such a good and really fun place now. And I'm really glad I got help for that.

The big news:
Wolfdog Interactive wanted to make a stealth-oriented VR game and needed a super awesome developer to enhance gameplay. (Me) Now I also wanted to make a Stealth game in a long time and since they helped me, I'll help them :) The game is called "Panther VR" and its shaping up to be an awesome stealth/heist based game.

Panther VR is now officially using the VR Dungeon Knight Character Movement and climbing System. This means that while developing dungeon knight I can enhance the Panther VR experience with little trouble!

What does this mean for development in VR Dungeon Knight?
Simple answer; Same Developer, More additional Content. Updates will continue in their original development time and I will proceed to make VR Dungeon Knight the best it can be.
VR Dungeon knight is my true love and would NEVER think of letting down my many players and fans! Dungeon Knight is here to grow and get more awesome.

For the past 1,5 years, I have been helping on the development of Panther VR in a number of ways so you can already be sure that that has not changed my workflow and speed for developing Dungeon Knight. Wolfdog Interactive will also be more invested in Dungeon Knight and continue to enhance current levels and remake some of the old lost levels!.
These include the VR Dungeon Knight Snow Area's, The big underground mines (Mines of moria type), Cave levels, Fairy forests etc!

I like working on Panther VR and I love working in a team for once, I'm happier as ever!
Panther VR is going to be an additional favorite game in your Steam library. I'll make sure of it.

Because of your amazing Knights, I get to make games every day. And I want to make sure you guys are the first to grab some limited Panther Kickstarter pledges!

In a distant future, ruled by international Corporations, there is always a struggle for power. Most power can be bought with money, everything else can be stolen. This is where the “Guild” comes into place. An international secret organization of master thieves, working for the highest bidder. Only the best are recruited into the Guild and may become a Panther agent.

Once inside the Guild, you must give up your civilian life, and will be assigned to a crew. Take on contracts provided by the Guild, and steal top-secret prototype or ancient artifacts from highly secured locations. Plan out your heist, choose your weapons and gadgets and infiltrate the location. Will you go in like a ghost and leave without a trace, or wreak total mayhem to get what you want?

Pets & Beasts Update
Watch out, Dungeon Knight! This update is filled with creepy crawlers and furry friends. We are more than happy to give the Pets & Beasts update. With a game-changing new feature: Pets! These useful creatures will aid you in your battle against evil. Browse for your companion in the new Petshop and collect all your strength and courage to fight the Spider King, our new Boss. Take a look at the new Chamber of Heroes and discover new secrets hidden in the dungeons!

Next Update
Once again we will be working hard on our next update (0.9.7). With this time a focus on more polish and refinement. If you have any ideas or things you want to see in upcoming patches, feel free to join the conversation on our VR Dungeon Knight Discord!



Added: Pets
For a while, the fate of the world rested on the lonely shoulders of the Dungeon Knight, But even a Hero needs a little help sometimes. Introducing: Pets. A deadly and helpful companion to aid you in your dungeon adventures. You and your co-op partner now have the ability to bring a pet. You can choose from a variety of creatures to match your playstyle. (More will be added in future updates) They come in all shapes and sizes with each a different ability, damage range, and speed. Pets can help you in various ways:

  • Pets can scout and detect approaching enemies.
  • Pets can carry a weapon slot for the Dungeon Knight. (unlimited Weight)
  • Pets can Attack and stun certain enemies.
  • Pets only attack when you enter combat.
  • Pets can keep you company in the dark and creepy Dungeons, so you never have to be alone again.
You are only able to equip one pet at a time, or you can still choose to go in alone. Keep in mind though that pets don’t have a health pool. This means that they won’t aggro enemies or take any sort of damage. So find a furry critter today, and gain not only a helpful companion but also a new friend!



Added: PetShop
Come in Dungeon Knight, take a look around. Welcome to the Petshop, a brand new location in the Main Chamber. Stop by, have a friendly chat with the Shaman Urk and browse the assortment of new pets. You can buy and unlock them with your hard-earned gold. Each pet comes with its own ability and (hefty) price tag. What about a wolf or maybe deadly T-rex? Urk makes sure you get the best prices and rarest of species! His stock is still quite fresh and new pets will be available in the future. Make a Suggestion and he might add it to the collection.





Added: Wolf [Pet]
For centuries the fierce wolf has been a loyal pet to the Dungeon Knights. It's loyalty, cunningness and agility are a perfect match to explore a Dungeon. Work together in a pack, and hunt down those pesky orcs.

  • Hunter: Hunts enemies down in combat.
  • Damage: 180
  • Movespeed Fast
  • Can carry 1 equipment item



Added: WolfBoss [Pet]
One wolf stood out from the rest. WolfBoss was the finest of all the wolves who served the Dungeon Knights. It was him who stood by the Dungeon Knight of Old when he defeated the Necromancer.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Hunter: Hunts enemies down in combat.
  • Damage: 200
  • Movespeed: Fast
  • Has 2 equipment slots instead of 1.



Added: Raptor [Pet]
Life finds a way. Just like it did in the prehistoric forest of Turuk. A small but deadly creature emerges from the grass. This Raptor may look cute, but it is not advised to pet him, so says one-handed Pete.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Ambusher: Attacks nearby enemies.
  • Special: Has a lower attack cooldown.
  • Damage: 250
  • Movespeed: Medium
  • Can carry 1 equipment item



Added: T-Rex [Pet]
A powerful creature, millions of years old, built to kill and always in a bad mood. The T-rex joins the fight. Very deadly up close and not a pet to mess with. He just wants a hug sometimes.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Ambusher: Attacks nearby enemies.
  • Powerhouse: Deals massive damage.
  • Damage: 350
  • Movespeed: Slow
  • Can carry 1 equipment item



Added: Scarab [Pet]
From the deserts of Ka’van comes a royal and mysterious creature. The Scarab. is known as a guide to the pharao. While it is not built for strength and combat, you might want to take advantage of his other powers.

Added: Spider King [NEW BOSS]

There aren’t many beings that could scare even an orc. But one creature has them running for their lives: In crawls Zhirox, the Spider King. A descendant from the spider god Akir. This eight-legged creature lives deep in the "Caves of old beneath the Dungeon, searching for his next meal. Take on this legendary King, in a whole new Boss Battle! Muster all your strength and courage, seek out the Spider King in his hidden lair and collect his treasure. Just make sure you won’t be his next lunch!

Changed: Chamber of Heroes
The Chamber of heroes has been overhauled and restored to its former glory. For centuries it served as a home of the ancient order of Dungeon Knights. A temple build as a monument for all things sacred and pure. It houses the Crystal of Light, a great source of power for the Dungeon Knight. A new place to adjust your Strength, Agility, and intelligence. We relocated the skills books for a better overview and made room for potential new classes. It's finally worthy of your Fame and strength Dungeon Knight.

Added: Battle Axe of the Gods
This Battle Axe was wielded by a powerful Warlord. Forged as an ordinary axe in the Mines of Gamdoon, it was meant as a weapon to defeat the armies of the Evil Murval, God of Disease. The warlord took the axe to a high priest, who blessed the axe in his fortune. The Axe gained great power, however, was never used is a fight with Murval. Rumour says that the old Warlord died of a sudden illness.

  • Attack: the time needed to attack has been upped to make reacting to shots easier.
  • Look: The Sourcerer now has darker colors to blend more in the dungeons and surprise you.

Adventure Update
A new Adventure awaits Dungeon Knight! We proudly present the latest update for VR Dungeon Knight. This update brings a new level of adventure to your dungeons with the addition of community requested Rooms, enemies, servants, and weapons. We added a massive performance update to make your dungeons raids even smoother and your frame rates higher. Also a big welcome to our new Composer: Daniele Zandara, who will be making new soundtracks for VR Dungeon Knight, including some amazing new tracks which are already included this update!

Next Update
We can also confirm that we are already hard at work on the next update (0.9.6). This new updated will be crawling to your Dungeon as soon as it is ready and is already one of our favorites yet!



Added: New Rooms
Time to explore some new uncharted areas! We've added a whole array of new rooms, locations, and secrets to explore. Including the new Forgotten Dungeons, Mystic Caves and a whole new Trap room with Game Master Goblin.

Forgotten Dungeons
Some Dungeons are better left forgotten. These once mighty halls are now only roamed by lost souls and damned creatures. Do you have what it takes to purge the evil from the darkest depths?



Mystic Caves
Old sages and druids used the Mystic Caves as their sacred ground for rituals and mysterious forms of magic and runecrafting. With big open rooms and small bridges, this location is one of our biggest yet in VR Dungeon Knight. Are you able to discover all of its secrets?



New Trap room
Meet Game Master Goblin. He likes cats, long walks on the beach and blowing stuff up. He invites you to his room which is all filled up with explosions and bombs. (and no cats). Find the key before the time runs out and you will be able to escape the room without.. exploding of fun!
The Game master goblin is already working on other deadly trap rooms for future updates.





Added: Sorcerer of the Arcane Madness (Servant of the Necromancer)
The true power of magic comes from Madness. This Sorcerer of old used to serve the Dungeon Knight until he traded his soul to the Necromancer in exchange for eternal life. He used his new found life to learn all sorts of tricks and dark magic slowly pushing him mad with power. His eternal deal, however, can still be broken by the death of the Necromancer. Only you can give your old servant the rest that he deserves.

  • Health: 700
  • MoveSpeed: Fast
  • Special Ability: Teleportation
  • Dodging: Can Dodge to avoid close combat

Added: God of Orcs (Servant of the Necromancer)
The work of the Dungeon Knight is a Blessing for most but can be a curse to others. In the eyes of the Orcs, the Dungeon Knight is a true menace. A plague that must be eliminated. The orcs have called forth their champion, the God of Orcs, to slay the Dungeon Knight once and for all. All hail the God of Orcs!

  • Health: 1800
  • MoveSpeed: Low
  • Special Ability: Rage (75% Damage Reduction when life goes under 40%).
  • Throwable: Magic Axe

Added: Slayer of Servants
Legends say that this deluxe claymore was once wielded by the Dungeon Knights of Old. This weapon was created by the most talented blacksmiths of the land and quickly caught the name: "Slayer of Servants" For his excellent ability to split his foes in half.

  • Damage: 85
  • Weight: 65
  • Legendary Weapon: Sets health to blessed whenever you kill a servant with this weapon.
  • Hidden: This weapon is hidden and must be found at a hidden altar.



Added: Staff of the Golden Wizard
The Staff of the Golden Wizard belonged to one of the “greatest wizard” known to man. At least, that’s how the story was told. In reality, this staff belonged to a very wealthy, but not so great Lord. A true wizard is formed out of years of studying, practicing and learning and is eventually able to craft his own staff. But this greedy Lord just paid a lot of gold to forge a powerful staff for his own. All Lords and Ladies were very impressed by his might until he mishandled the staff and turned himself in Solid gold.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Damage: 60
  • Weight: 50
  • Magic: Gold Fire. A hot golden magic projectile which travels in an arc.
  • Legendary: Gives 10% extra gold when you grab a gold pile.



Added: Unholy Dagger of Death
Best known for its owner, Death himself. Before the Dungeon knight of old banished him back to the realms of nothingness. It's now hidden away in the deepest dark cave possible and it's up to you to either wield it to use it's life stealing powers or to keep it hidden, to be forgotten forever.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Damage: 38
  • Weight: 20
  • Legendary Weapon: Lifesteals health when you kill an enemy while in the near-death state.
  • Hidden: This weapon is hidden and must be found in the deepest darkest of caves.



Added: Damage Resistance
All enemies now have advantages or disadvantages against projectiles and magic. Melee Damage is not affected by this.
Some take extra damage from ranged attacks, while others might evade or block some of the damage you deal. Get ready to learn your enemies weakness and use it against them!



Added: Improved Performance
Increasing the performance of the game is one of our highest priorities for full release. Due to the high atmospheric environments, the game can sometimes demand a lot of resources to load or run. After long and heavy hours of work, we're finally able to reduce resource loading drastically, which in return results in a much higher framerate and experience.



Added: Composer
A mighty wizard appears, this time with the power of Music! We are proud to announce the newest addition to VR Dungeon Knight, our new composer: Daniele Zandara. He will be composing new and amazing music tracks specifically used for Dungeon Knight. You can already hear some new soundtracks made by him in this update!

Hero Update
A new year has arrived for VR Dungeon Knight! We had an amazing 2018 with a lot of new content and updates! Thanks a lot for all the great feedback and support! You can all rest assured that this year will, yet again, be filled with updates and improvements, starting with this brand new Hero update! So grab your nearest Dungeon buddy and let's start by exploring this new update!




Added: Hero Mode
Only the oldest legends speak about the Tree of Heroes. An ancient being which grows on heroic deeds and acts of kindness. Her presence alone can cleanse all evil from your heart. Only the most skilled fighters and mages will survive her blessing. Heroes have a lot to lose.



How to activate Hero Mode
You can find the Tree of Heroes inside the Chamber of Heroes in the back of the room.
Approach the Tree by taking a "Leep of Faith" and interact with the Helmet to activate her blessing. This blessing will engage “Hero Mode”. An indication of Hero mode will appear on your belt. This mode will change the following:

Features Hero Mode
  • Take twice as much damage
  • All healing is reduced by 50%
  • Receive 3 times the normal XP

We got a lot of feedback on how the "Hard" Dungeon mode is still not hard enough. We hope that we can satisfy the craving for a hardcore Dungeon Run by adding a "Hero mode" that increase the difficulty immensely and give the game a whole new feeling. Enjoy!



Changed: Prologue
A great adventure starts with a good introduction and proper training. That is why we reworked the prologue of the game. This includes a visual update of the introduction story and the addition of a new tutorial area for first-time players. The Tutorial area introduces the player to all the different mechanics in VR Dungeon Knight. There is a special area for Agility, for the introduction of climbing and swimming, an area for Ranged Combat, for the training in bow and spells, and we have an area for Melee Combat, where you can train your skills with sword and shield. First-time players can decide if they want to skip the tutorials. You can always find and replay the tutorial in the Main Chamber besides the Option Room





Changed: Backslot
We reworked the Backslot system. The old version was built on a single back point, which was not easy to reach for some and made the wielding of items on the back way too tricky. The new system is more based on player height and hand position. This makes the range of the back slot larger, extending it behind the head and shoulders. It is now easier to place and grab weapons on your back.

This rework was a largely requested feature from the community. We hope this will increase the usage of the backslot, especially with Player who are using VR System without 360 tracking.






Changed: Magic
After many hours of reading ancient and dusty spell books and with an online learning course from a British Magic school, we discovered how we can improve our magic. All spells are now more accurate, making it more consistent to hit enemies from afar. We also added subtle aiming assistance, which shows where your spells will land. The assistance can be turned off any time in the Options Room.





Added: Blood Options
We added the option to change the appearance of blood. You can change the look from real blood to a cloud of white dust. This option is accessible in the Options Room.



Added: Adaptive Dungeons
We’ve expended the Winstreak adaptation System. This system balances the Dungeons difficulty based on your previous performances. It makes the Dungeons more difficult and longer when you win but slightly easier and shorter when you lose, it now also makes enemies more fierce, attacking faster and more aggressive. The main goal of the system is to balance the gameplay for each player individually, giving new players a boost, and longtime veterans a challenge.



Changed: Combat
Combat has been enhanced in both speed and action. We lowered the amount of slow motion to focus more on the on quick blocks! The Enemy stun duration from blocks have also been lowered by 25%, for a feast recovery. Enemies are now more adaptive on the playstyle you prefer for improved counter attacks.

  • Increased health from 450 to 500
  • Increased throwing dagger damage from 25 to 32.

  • Decreased health from 1100 to 800
  • Increased rage percentage threshold from 40 to 45%
  • Increased throwing axe damage from 30 to 40

  • Decreased health from 330 to 250.

Utility Update
After a full year of amazing new weapons, dangerous enemies and mysterious rooms, the time has come for some well-deserved gameplay updates. This brand new Utility update will be mainly focussed on the improvement of existing gameplay elements before we move on to the next big content additions. We want to iron out some small bugs and make the game feel overall smoother and easier to use. Included in this new patch are interaction improvements, movement system changes, and some huge requested multiplayer fixes.



Changed: Item Storage
We’ve upgraded the item interaction system, making it easier to control your weapons and loadout, especially during combat. Grabbing and storing items has been polished.
You will now be less likely to store your weapon by accident in combat with the addition of a very small cooldown to avoid double storing or grabbing by accident.

Added Spectator Cam
In the rare event of death during an epic battle besides your fellow Dungeon Knight, you now have to option to watch the living in the Spectator Deathcam. We’ve installed a viewing window in the dark and empty void of death to view your continuing adventure of your still lively friend. The spectator cam is in a Third Person view and tries to follow your partner as close as possible. If your co-op partner enters the next room, you respawn and the spectator cam will end. It is still possible to communicate with the living using voice chat.





Added: Movement Systems
This update comes with some new changes and additions to the movement system. We’ve tweaked the teleporting system with the addition of a cooldown, and added a smooth turning option for more immersion.

Teleport Cooldown
In order to contain the distance you traverse through teleportation, we’ve added a cooldown. The teleportation cooldown will be based on distance and fast usage, making it impossible to fast spam your teleportation button. The cooldown is barely noticeable at normal speed movement, so it won’t prevent your movement during combat.



Smooth Turning
Beside the already implemented snap turning, we’ve added a new smooth turning option. This removes the snap and fade, giving you full control over the rotation. This option is turned off at the start of the game and can be turned on in the Option Room on the far Right.





Changed: Throwing
The throwing system is now enhanced, giving it more room for different throwing styles. We’ve noticed that almost everyone has his own unique way of throwing stuff. Some people throw underhands, some upper and others even throw sideways. In order to conform more to those different styles, we made throwing more dependent on your looking direction. This makes Throwing much more reliable and easier to execute with all throwing styles. Throwing direction is now based on where you look. (Look higher to throw higher) and its speed now only uses the local speed of your hands.





Changed: Menu Interaction
The interaction with menus and buttons is now simplified. It is no longer required to press and hold the trigger and grip button for a menu interaction. You can now interact with a menu with only the press of the trigger button. These interactions can mainly be found in the Heroes Chamber and Options Chamber.

Musket Update
Another new update rolls out for VR Dungeon Knight. It's full of guns a new enemy and new adventures.

Added Muskets
It is time to pack some heat Dungeon Knight! We’ve added the muskets to your armory. These rifles are a great way to deal a large amount of damage from a good distance. Each musket has its own speciality, like the sniper rifle for large distances and the rifle axe for close combat. All rifles must be reloaded manually after each shot by holding the rifle in both hands while holding your hands close together. Muskets can be unlocked like any other weapon.


Added: Musket Rifle
The Musket Rifle is the all-around gun, useful for any situation. Make ready, aim, Fire!

Abilities and Statistics
  • 30 Damage Stock.
  • Can't Block.
  • 600-2400 Ranged Damage Potential
  • Can pierce through walls/floors and all enemies in a line.
  • Does not have a sneak damage multiplier.
  • Loud sound! Enemies will detect you faster after you shoot.



Added: Musket Sniper (Blackmark Weapon)
Snipe your enemies from afar with this deadly high ranged rifle. (Or try a no scope.)

Abilities and Statistics
  • 30 Damage Stock.
  • Can't Block.
  • 2500-5000 Ranged Damage Potential.
  • Can pierce through walls/floors and all enemies in a line.
  • Does not have a sneak damage multiplier.
  • Loud sound! Enemies will detect you faster after you shoot.



Added: Axe Rifle (Blackmark Weapon)
What is better than an axe? An axe with an ability to shoot your enemies in the face!

  • 40 Melee Damage.
  • Can Block.
  • 640 Ranged Damage.
  • Can pierce through walls/floors and all enemies in a line.
  • Does not have a sneak damage multiplier.
  • Loud sound! Enemies will detect you faster after you shoot.



Added: Sorcerer of Unholy Order (Servant of the necromancer)
Once sworn to protect the world from evil. The order of Sorcerers could not withstand the corruption of the Necromancer. Now they dedicate their lives and power to dark magic and destroying any Dungeon Knight in their path.

Abilities and Statistics
  • Melee Damage: 30
  • Can fire magic
  • The magic projectile is homing.
  • Can Teleport at will.



Added: Adventure Mode and Nightmare Mode
We have replaced the normal and hard difficulty with an Adventure and Nightmare Mode.

Adventure Mode
This mode will generate a Dungeon with a combination of traps, exploration and enemy rooms. It has a more relaxed pace and gives the player a mix of exploration, combat, and adventure. It's the perfect setting for starting players and shows every aspect of a Dungeon.

Nightmare Mode
The Nightmare mode is a more hardcore approach to the dungeons. It only uses rooms with enemies in it, making it more focused on combat and survival. Large rooms without enemies are removed, and the player doesn’t get a lot of breaks between fight. Advised for more experienced players.

We felt that the old difficulty setting (normal and hard) weren’t that different from each other. A lot of players only went for the hard setting, which made the normal setting almost redundant. We also noticed that some player love exploring, while others mainly want to fight. By separating the modes from playstyle instead of difficulty we hope that more players will choose one of the two Dungeon depending on what they want to do.

Added: Portal of Souls
The old Multiplayer doors are replaced by the Portal of Souls. Besides the appearance change, it also has a different way to use it. When there is a game available a portal will appear, allowing you to step through and join a fellow Dungeon Knight on his quest.
The portal will make it easier to spot and join an available game.



Changed: Stealth Trial
You will now need 75% of your kills to be stealth takedowns in order to succeed the stealth trail. (instead of no detection) If you remain in stealth while proceeding to the next room all the monsters you skip in the previous room also get added to your stealth kills count. Neat!
Monsters you skip mid-combat will get counted to your normal kills count though.

Added: New Temple Dungeon Rooms
We added some new Temple themed Dungeon rooms. These rooms will expand on the one already in the game and will focus more on exploration and combat.





Added: Carry Weight
Your movement speed is now capped based on your weight! You know that indicator on your belt. All items and weapons have a weight that will add to your total weight. This will make you slower with large and heavy weapons. This applies to Touchpad Movement AND armswing. Teleportation will receive a cooldown in between jumps based on the weight and distance in a later update. If you want to be a true speedrunner in this update you need to invest points into dexterity or purchase the thief/assassin class to achieve a fast speed. A heavy knight class with heavy weapons now also plays like one.

Speed Cap
  • Very Light is full movespeed.
  • Light is 85% of your total movespeed.
  • Heavy is 55% of your total movespeed.
  • Too heavy is 33% of your total movespeed.

Class Changes
  • Warrior now has a 10% Speed Reduction.
  • Dungeon Knight now has a 15% Speed Reduction.
  • Mage Now has a 25% Armor Reduction instead of 15%.

  • Increased Throwing Dagger damage of the Green Orcling from 19 to 29

Changed: Orc

  • Increased Throwing Axe damage of the Red Orc from 19 to 35

Changed: Spectral Minions

  • Increased Spectral Clubber dodge cooldown from 3 to 3.5 seconds

  • Increased Sorcerer dodge cooldown from 1 to 1.4 seconds
  • Increased Sorcerer Damage from 9 to 11

Changed: Spectral Summoner

  • Spectral Summoner health increased from 2000 to 2500.

  • Pistol Damage reduced from 175 to 170.
  • Pistol is now moved to the other side of the Weapon room to accompany the new Musket Rifle.

VR Dungeon Knight - Wolfdog Interactive





Combat Update
We have some great new additions and changes to how combat plays out in VR Dungeon Knight. These new features will add extra depth and difficulty to your dungeon runs.

Special Abillties
All enemies now have a special Ability. This special Ability gives them an extra way to attack the player. Like a Rage mode for the Orcs, giving them extra damage and attack speed for a short time. Together with the enemies new ability to dodge your attacks, it adds a lot of depth to your fights. Forcing you to rethink your strategy and approach.

Blocking
Blocking has been reworked and is now more responsive. Making it easier to block and dodge incoming attacks.

Training
We've added a training area in the Weapons Room. These areas are split up in melee and ranged, with the addition of Training dummies. You can now test the strength of your weapons, or try out some tactics before entering a dungeon.

Loadouts
Your loadout and dungeon difficulty will now be saved when you enter a dungeon. When you finish a dungeon or die, you can jump back in with the same loadout.

Decapitation
Slay your enemies in style. You can now cut off their heads with a final blow!

Trap Rooms
Discover the new Trap Rooms. Escape from certain death by finding your way out before it is too late!

Swimming
The Dungeon Knight can now swim in water. Making it possible to dive below the surface.



Added: Demon
From the dark depth of hell rises the Demon! This fearless enemy will try to vanquish anyone in his path. Using raw power and ancient dark magic, the Demon will bring darkness upon your dungeon. Only the light will protect you now Dungeon Knight!

Abilities and Statistics
  • Demon has a huge weapon with a lot of Damage.
  • Demon has a soul evade.
  • Demon can break trough Stuns.



Added: Staff of light
The staff of light joins the armory. The ultimate weapons against the Dark forces and dark dungeons!

Abilities and Statistics
  • Staff of light does 75 damage (two handed).
  • Staff of Light can shoot magic for 250 impact damage.
  • Staff of light projectile flies at a slow speed and creates light trough hallways.
  • Staff of light magic creates a large AOE with a 12 second duration (Does more damage against unholy creatures).


Added: Loot
It is time to smash some Pots! Crates and pots are now added to the game. Spread around the dungeon rooms and corridors these breakable objects are filled with precious loot. Get more gold, find some food for health, or restock your ammo. It is now all possible with crates!



Added: New Visuals
An enchantment has spread across the Dungeon! Various rooms and dungeons have received a visual update. These updates include the Main Dungeon Room, Reward Room, and Weapons Room. They are larger and more appealing, adding even more immersion. There are also some visual updates to the Climbing vines, Gold and Treasure chests!






Changed: Orcling

  • Orcling changed damage from 22 to 32
  • Orcling now can throw daggers doing 20 damage.

Changed: Orc

  • Orc Changed Damage from 30 to 40.
  • Orc can now throw an Axe doing 20 damage.
  • Orc can break trough Stuns.

Changed: Ghost

  • Ghost damage increased from 39 to 80.

Changed: Skeleton Executioner

  • Skeleton executioner no longer switches to a melee weapon
  • Skeleton Executioner now runs back to create distance to shoot.

Changed: Spectral Minions

  • Spectral Minions can use soul evade.
  • Spectral Minions are now bigger in size.

Changed: Sourcerer

  • Sourcerer Can Throw a lantern of cursed fire (AOE Fire).
  • Sourcerer Can soul evade to create distance.





Changed: Pistol

  • Pistol damage increased from 40 to 125.
  • Pistol Now shoots 30% Slower.

Changed: Short Bow

  • Short bow damage increased from 200 to 300.

Removed: Spear
  • Removed Spear from game.

The spear is currently not friendly with the new combat mechanics. The Spear may be added back in with reworked mechanics in the future.





Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug where some hallways would appear again in the same dungeon.
  • Fixed a bug where you could not activate the chamber of heroes, This chamber is now always unlocked from the start, giving everyone class options and the ability point system.
  • Fixed multiplayer stability.
  • Fixed a bug where enemies in multiplayer would stand still.
  • Fixed the lack of easter eggs.

Hot Fixes
Hotfix 0.9.1a (25-05)
  • Fixed a bug that boxes and trap gears would not break for the other co-INT.
Hotfix 0.9.1b (28-05)
  • Fixed a bug where magic would only do 1 damage.
  • Fixed multiplayer stability.
  • Fixed Fairy mode. (This was glitched after the combat update).
  • Fixed a bug where trap magic would increase damage based on your INT.

Livestream
Our first episode of Wolfdog Live is complete!
Big shout out to all the people who watched and joined in on the Livestream last Thursday. It was really fun to meet some of you and answers your questions in person. Don't worry if you wanted to see the Livestream and couldn't be there. You can watch everything back on our Youtube channel .

We would love to hear what you think about the Livestream. It would be really nice to turn this into a regular event. We can talk more about VR Dungeon Knight, play co-op with viewers, do a giveaway or even play some other VR games just for fun.

Speaking about the livestreams as a regular event, we can already announce a new episode of Wolfdog Live on may 3th at 8pm CEST. This time we want you to join us as our co-op player! If you want to venture in the dungeon with one of the devs during this twitch livestream, then sends us an email , or contact us on the VRDK Official discord . You are also invited to join in the chat and ask us any question you want!

Giveaway
The first Grand Giveaway was concluded on April the 8th. We are happy to announce that this first edition was a great success! A lot of people joined in on the giveaway.
