Hi there!

Today is the start of the summer sale and Underhero is 50% OFF for the first time ever! If you still haven't tried it yet, this is the perfect chance to jump into the metaphorical pool known as Underhero. The water is cool, clean, and all your friends are here drinking smoothies and floating carelessly while you play videogames... in the pool?



We're not particularly sure where we're going with this, so here's the bug fixes for patch 1.4.3

Bug fixes:
  • The song "Fighting until the very end" was not unlocking for some players.
  • Left shift key was not working by default for the shield.
  • Shield default key also not working during the shield tutorial.
  • Game over menu had a repeating key input that was causing issues with the menu.
  • Movement keys not working during the ice skating competition by default or with rebinding.
  • Level up menu couldn't be navigated with D-Pads.
  • There was a coin getting stuck in the ceiling of the Dark Maze.
  • W key not working to zoom in the fanart artwork in the fanart room.
  • During the final battle with [REDACTED], the Masked Kid would get stuck in a falling state when landing in a certain way on platforms. This would in turn, send the player flying through the floor and out of bounds. Yikes.

Also NEW game!?

That's right!
We have started to show some of our progress with our new game! Mainly concept art, but we will slowly work our way towards gameplay gifs, trailers, music and more. You can see some of it on our Twitter, and we also have a cozy devlog channel in our discord server.

We know you might be thinking this is a sequel, but nope! We are working on an entirely new IP with new characters, gameplay, world, music etc. An Underhero sequel is not entirely discarded, but we want to try new things and improve our skills before we attempt another game in the Underhero universe.

Hello!

Today we have a more by the numbers update, we mostly fixed some bugs and adjusted a few things.

Bug fixes:
  • Swimming bug where the character would jump repeatedly when holding down the jump button with keyboard.
  • Certain lava switch doing a disappearing act.
  • Buying things with keyboard unintentionally bought many items at once with one key press.
  • HUD appearing with every jump when it shouldn't.
  • Couldn't delete files with keyboard because the "d" key was now back. Whoops.
  • It was impossible to hide inside the hiding spots in World 5 with keyboard.
  • Some Elizabeth dialogue prompts not working with keyboard in World 5.
  • Trying to type a name for a file with a controller connected would cause the "s" and "d" key to respond during typing, and would accept or close respectively.
  • Issue where drawing tablets were being detected as gamepads, which meant keyboard players would have play with Xbox icon prompts.
  • Using a forced resolution no longer resets when returning to the main menu.
  • Cloud saves now working on Linux version.

In other news, there is a super cool fan effort right now to mod Underhero and potentially collaborate with the community to create translations for the game! The tool is still in the early testing stages and it might not happen at all mind you, but we are working closely with them to help as much as we can. Hello there!

We’re happy to say that with this new update Underhero now has controller remapping and key binding. It took us more work than we originally anticipated, but hopefully it improves the game for more people.

What's new:
  • Completely redone controller menu.
  • Edit inputs for both keyboards and controllers on the main menu, or during play through the pause menu.
  • Inputs are saved after the game is closed.
  • For quick access press "F12" to open the new menu, and "F11" to reset to default inputs.
  • Most gamepads will be compatible with the game now (no more Xbox exclusivity :P).
  • This update will also be available for Mac and Linux users.
  • Quicker saving times, initial loading times slightly faster too.
  • New force resolution option* (More on this below).
Unfortunately we were not able to make it so icons update during play with new inputs, or new icons for different controller types. Regardless of what controller you use the game will still use Xbox 360 icons. We really tried with this one, but it was not possible and we apologize for it.

This new input system was tested with Xbox 360 controllers, Dualshock 4, Switch Pro controller, generic brand gamepads and keyboards. That said, even after a lot of testing there might be a couple of bugs that slipped through, let us know if you find anything and we will get it fixed for the next patch.

Bug fixes:
  • Fixed a bug where the player couldn’t save or load because the save file wasn’t created.
  • Fixed a couple of lingering typos.
  • Fixed a bug were the checkered background in some menus would become smaller horizontally when zooming in and closing the menu.
  • Other small bugs pertaining to the new input system.

*How to access the force resolution option:

Go to the main menu and then to options, now press “F10” to open the force resolution screen. Type both a new resolution and an aspect ratio and press enter.

This was done in case the game is not recognizing or changing the correct display resolution, it’s a bit hacky but we hope it works for some extreme cases.

Underhero 4.1.0 is here!

What's new:
  • Mac support
  • Linux support
  • Windows 32-bit support
  • Cloud saves!
Bug fixes:
  • Itormon enemy disappearing after being defeated. This meant the player couldn't talk to it and learn important passwords.
  • Hilarious bug where Yanijo had a coconut bikini the wrong sprite between being rescued from the volcano, and giving the reward to the player.
  • Some W5 Masked Kids had inconsistent names through dialogues.
  • Blowie enemy wouldn't turn off sleeping particle system if they were bribed while sleeping
  • Opening and closing the items menu with the B button or the D key wouldn't let the player open the menu again until it was pressed twice.
  • Attention prompts would still appear on the main menu after quitting the game.
  • What's Cloning On wouldn't spawn.
  • And other smaller issues.

What's up with the new controller options:

We are currently still working out the kinks of key binding and controller remapping for the game, but we are close! We've had to rework quite a few things in order to let any type of gamepad and keyboard be compatible with the game. New updates for the Unity engine have thrown a few curve balls our way, we still need to figure out a few things. Hang in there!

We are working on a few things to improve Underhero a little bit more:

  • Mac and Linux versions!
  • Since the new update, 32 bit users have been unable to play the game so we'll be making 32 bit versions as well soon.
  • We are testing and working on key binding options and re-mapping controllers for Underhero! Finally.

We are also happy to announce that Underhero will release on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Xbox One very very soon!
