You heard right: there's an Umihara Kawase speedrun contest being held in Kichijoji, Tokyo this weekend on 6th May (Sunday) followed by a talk show featuring creator Toshinobu Kondo. It will all be streamed live via Twitch if you can't be there to enjoy it!

Spring is finally here, so let’s enjoy the weather warming up with Sayonara Umihara Kawase! We’re having a time attack contest for Stage 6 of the game!



The contest will run from March 27th at 10am PT to April 3rd at 10am PT. Here’s how you enter…

1. On the game’s title or map screen, press start to access the game menu and choose “Settings”.
   
2. Make sure all of these options are enabled...
   
   
3. Reach Stage 6 if you haven’t already and complete it as fast as possible, with adult Kawase (default main character). You MUST pick up the backpack!
   
4. On the game’s title or map screen, press start to access the game menu and choose “Replay”.
   
5. Hit the right bumper (R1) button on your controller and choose your best completed Stage 6 time.
   
6. Choose “Save this Replay Data”.
   
7. In the “Save Data” screen, choose your newly saved replay and rename it to “DC” (for Degica Contest) plus the seconds and hundredths of a second of your time. For example, if you completed the stage in 42 and a half seconds, call the replay “DC 42.50”.
   
8. Choose your newly renamed replay, scroll to the left, choose “Upload”, and confirm the upload.
   
9. Go to your Steam Workshop page, and set the replays “Visibility” to “Public”.

Caution!: The replay log will disappear when you quit the game. Please save the log data before you quit!

In order to be counted, replays must be submitted during the contest period. The top five fastest submitted replays that also pick up the backpack in Stage 6 will win the following prizes based on their placement…

1. Umihara Kawase exclusive T-shirt + $10 Steam wallet credit
   
2. Original wrist rest pillow + $10 Steam wallet credit
   
3. Original Notepad + $10 Steam wallet credit
