We’ve got one update left for 2015! Barring any major issues that require an immediate fix, we’ll take a break during the holidays and double our efforts in 2016 to bring the game out of Early Access and onto the bigger stage.



We’ve added a new feature: the final game mechanic in Area 4; expanding Gas. Area 4, also known as Snow, is known for a limited number of small Gas pockets. What to do?! Fred Metal has the answer: Heat them up and expand them! This will however require some effort and of course money. By laying pipes around a gas pocket and heating them up (this will also Close the pipe) a Gas pocket will grow until it hits the pipe. Giving you the much needed Gas to get those prices up.

This is the first iteration that you guys get to play with, and we’re sure that you will have valuable feedback over the holiday period. As always, let us know in the forums.

The new update does require a SAVE GAME RESET. So be warned!

New
  • New game mechanic – Gas Expansion. Thermal upgrade needed from Fred Metal.
  • Thermal upgrade made available in Factory.
  • Lockdown upgrade made available in Factory.
  • Tutorial for new game mechanic.
  • Lowered the amount of Gas and the size of pockets in Area 4.
  • Wagon AI – Rigs have higher priority, hopefully preventing unnecessary spillage.
  • Game will now adapt to any resolution full screen – Black bars will fill screens with resolutions other than supported in-game.
  • Branching is now an upgrade for Rigs AND Joints.
  • Minimum pipe length is now $85.
  • New texts in town for each building after the game is finished.

UI
  • New Art for the Stock Auction.
  • Fixed Stocks % overlaying Diamonds.

Bugs
  • When you or an NPC reach 51% Stocks the game will nog longer be over. You can still play and get to the end island.
  • Fixed Anthony’s hints – The location was slightly off due to the new map.
  • AI Stocks bidding – slightly smarter bidding by NPC’s.

Welcome to our newest post of our ‘In the Pipeline’ series.

In the Pipeline will contain all the items that are literally and figuratively in the pipeline. This will (but does not have to) include crashes to fix, bugs to splat, player suggestions to incorporate and improvements to make that we feel are necessary for the next update.



Thanks for the feedback on our new Stocks system. We knew it wasn’t perfect right away, but we opted to bring it to you as soon as possible and let you play around with it, instead of holding it back another few weeks. Let us know in the forums what you think of the Stocks system and how we can improve on it.

As you’ve noticed the updates are still coming in regularly, but not as fast. We have slowly mutated to a once-every-two-weeks-schedule. This is not out of laziness or as intended, but simply because the game is getting bigger and new features have more impact on the rest of the game. This means more bugs, tests, lines of code, more everything.

We expect the next update to be next week. But we want to make sure that we add a brand new feature again: the new mechanic with Gas in the 4th Area. This means it might take a bit more time. We’re also working on improving Wagon AI once again and improving the first issues with Stocks.

The update should go live in a week or so.

We’ve got a substantial update for you! So hang on to your hats and read on.

Stocks, our new game system, is in place. You will now get the chance to buy Stocks in town and become the next mayor! Every level will be followed by a tense bidding war for a few % of the Stocks. To win the game you need 51% of all the Stocks. This means you will need to make more choices after every level: Upgrades or Stocks or Both?! Note: it’s all coder art right now, our Artist is working on a visual upgrade.



On top of that there is also a brand new World Map! Besides adding a riverboat instead of a pirate ship. The Desert now serves as Area 2. We made Area 1 a bit smaller, speeding up the early game into Rock by a couple of levels. There’s also an island in the middle, but you’ll need to find what that is for yourselves…

Lots of other smaller changes in this build, as listed below, but be assured that this is one of the biggest updates that we have done in a while. We hope you enjoy is and we await your feedback in the forums. Because of the Campaign changes a Save Game Reset was inevitable!

  • Stocks – a bidding war to become the mayor of our Town. This starts half way in Area 2.
  • World Map – completely revised. Area 1 is smaller, Area 2 is now the desert, Plains is Area 3. We’ve also added a mysterious island.
  • Bank loans – Loans in Town can now be adjusted up and down before taking them.
  • Herd Size – Upgrades are available from the start.
  • Spillage – Fines now increase every Area: Area 1 = x1, Area 2 = x2, Area 3 = x4, Area 4 = x8.
  • Barney – Offers will increase Area: Area 1 = x1, Area 2 = x2, Area 3 = x4, Area 4 = x8.
  • End game report – Profits are now auto-highlighted in the Graphs tab.
UI
  • New texts and windows for the end game and Stocks.
  • Pipe preview is now a dotted line while under your cursor as well.
  • Various text fixes
Bugs
  • Fixed various small issues with the new UI. Thanks for the reports! We’re not done yet, Stocks took up a lot of time.
  • Fixed various bugs and crashes.
  • Fixed an issue where the HUD worked incorrectly after skipping the tutorial.
  • Fixed audio issues – pumping SFX not stopping with a closed Rig and a weird guitar sound that popped up when the Spillage alarm happened.
  • Fixed NPC’s bidding on land after the game was over.
  • Fixed Jill taking off when you cancel going to the next level.
