Ring-a-ding! That’s me shaking the freebies bell like a farmer calling the family for dinner. We’re having Trials Of Mana this evening, a free demo for Square Enix’s upcoming remake of 1995 RPG Seiken Densetsu 3. The demo kicks off today and you don’t need to fear spending too much time with it because you can carry your party and progress over to the full release when it launches at the end of April.

Square Enix have been digging deep into their vaults the past few years, including several more restored gems announced at E3. They aim to make their whole back catalogue available digitally, but there’s one big obstacle. As CEO Yosuke Matsuda admitted when talking to Game Informer “I’m embarrassed to admit it, but in some cases, we don’t know where the code is anymore”. It’s a common story in the games industry, and one of the biggest obstacles to properly preserving games. When recovery efforts fail, some studios have had to cleverly work around their missing code.

They just keep coming don’t they? A lot of games were announced at E3 2019, things that we didn’t know about, as well as stuff that’s previously announced, or expansions to already released games. Now, to the casual outsider, what we’re doing might seem absolutely nuts, but we thought we’d put together an alphabetical list of all the PC games that have been confirmed to appear at this year’s E3 show. With well over a hundred of them now in the books, the next year or so looks packed.

One of the weirdest things about this year’s E3 is Square Enix realising that they’ve got a huge back-catalogue of excellent, untranslated JRPGs to bring west. Trials Of Mana is the new English name for Seiken Densetsu 3, a Super Nintendo action-RPG classic that never (officially) made it out of Japan. While there’s a gently remastered version headed to Switch, the PC is also due a full 3D remake early next year. They’re also remastering and localising pair of Japan-0nly games for us, from their more esoteric SaGa series; Romancing SaGa 3 on SNES, and SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions on Vita.
