Holy this took long. Nevertheless, here it is Trap Labs v1.2! I've update the Steam store page as well with new gameplay clips, store descriptions, and gifs. Check those out!

To celebrate this release, Trap Labs is 50% off on Steam for two whole weeks! New content and a discount? Can this day get any better?!

Anyways, onto the new stuff!

Character Customization
Billy now comes with 6 different colors schemes available from the game start. There are over 30 different hats to collect throughout story mode. The character customization screen can be accessed from the pause menu. You can swap hats and color in realtime during multiplayer. Showoff your hard earn hats to your friends.



Multi-resolution and Windowed Full Screen
All monitor resolutions are now supported. Check out this ultrawide screenshot. It's so pretty. In addition, the game can now be set in windowed full screen (aka borderless window). This is important for streamers.

Arcade Reorganization
The original 100 levels of Level Up has been split into easy, normal, and hard. These are ~33 levels each. This should make it easier for people to try it and not get intimidated by the difficulty. The original full versions are still available.

Multiplayer Additions
  • Added Asia server.
  • Players can now spectate other players once the level is complete.
  • Multiplayer nickname now hard-binds to Steam.
  • Level Up mode now keeps track of player scores in multiplayer.
  • Multiplayer race and co-op now support passworded private sessions.
  • Level select screen now shows if a floor currently is being played.
  • Your player name is now bigger and highlighted in different color.

Story Mode Additions
  • Story medal stats can now be accessed by clicking on the medal icon.
  • You can now rewatch a cutscene/splash screen by clicking on the movie clip icon beside key levels.
  • As mentioned earlier, all hats are collectable through story mode levels. They are place in difficult to reach places. See if you can find them all!
  • Many of the story levels has been tweaked for to reduce frustration, especially the more difficult ones.
  • Wall clipping in many levels are fixed.

Mobile Cross-play
This release launches simultaneously with the first ever iOS and Android builds. The first 25 story levels on mobile are available for free, including online play. The whole game can be unlocked by a single in-app purchase. There are no ads or other in-app purchases. If you've never played Trap Labs and want to give it a go, mobile is a great way to sample the game.

Trap Labs v1.2 update official launches coming Tuesday Sept 3rd! The new iOS and Android version of the game will launch simultaneously. You'll be able to play the game where ever you go, so watch out for those as well! The live servers are already transitioned to the v1.2 update, so if you want to play multiplayer with the current production version (1.0.2.1) please move the beta branch via the password dontStormArea51.

Anyone who wishes to join the beta can do so by using the password dontStormArea51. Mobile betas are also available through invite only. PM me or send email to traplabsgame@gmail.com for mobile invite.

To access the beta, right click on Trap Labs in your Steam library, go to Properties, click on the Betas tab, and enter the password dontStormArea51. Select the v1.2beta from the drop down menu.

Hats & Customization
Hats are now accessible via the person icon in the pause menu. Hats are collectable throughout the 100 story levels. There are over 30 hats to collects. More will be added as time goes on. Many of the hats were suggested and inspired by friends who have streamed Trap Labs in the past. If you want a hat, you know, you just have to stream the game :P



Billy now has 6 different colors to pick from. You may also notice there is a selector under Billy's name that is disabled. I've added the infrastructure to support additional characters but I have yet to add a new character. Characters like PART and Mei will be playable in a future patch.

Full multi-resolution support
No more black bars! This was a tedious feature to implement but long overdue. It works great on my ultrawide (3440 x 1440). If you have a 4k monitor let me know if it works.



You'll also discover that there's an option for windowed (borderless) full screen. It currently does not work, but will be added before the final v1.2 release.

Arcade Reorganization
Level Up is a lot of fun, but it gets hard real fast. So I've split up the mode into 3 varying difficulty each with their own leaderboard. This way it gives player an easier and quick sense of satisfaction from completion rather than having to go through all 100 levels.

In addition, leaderboard now offers an option to display only score among friends.

  • Level Up mode now keeps track of player scores in multiplayer.

Trap Labs - Ninja_Gah


There is a content update coming that will coincide with the mobile release of Trap Labs. More details will be announced in a few weeks but I will be running a closed beta of the Steam, Android, and iOS builds starting next week. You'll be able to cross-play on PC and mobile at the same time!

The biggest addition of this update is character customization. Hats are integrated as part of the story mode gameplay which you can collect throughout the 100 story levels. They can also be worn and swapped out in realtime in multiplayer so express yourself and show off!

Hello labrats! In case you didn't know, all patch notes are located in the Steam community forums. In case you have an issue with the game please direct your questions and comments there.

Here are some highlights of game changes since the game release:
- Added "carry mode" for co-op. As long as one person wins the level everyone wins
- Fixed achievements not triggering (you should be able to get all the visible achievements now) You don't have to replay the game just beat one level if something didn't trigger before.
- Fixed many crashes and bugs related to co-op and multiplayer stability
- Gold medals are all achievable now, some were impossible to achieve during launch but they have been fixed.

What's to come:
- I'll be adding servers to Europe and Asia
- Adjustments to certain levels that are too frustrating

Trap Labs - Ninja_Gah
After exactly 3 years of working Trap Labs it is finally released! The game turned out so much different from what I originally imagined it to be. The game features 100 levels of story campaign that can be played solo offline or via co-op online, another 100+ challenges in arcade mode, and 4 dedicated online multiplayer maps. I'll be adding more maps in the future, and possibly a map maker.

My friends, I have decided to delay the Steam release of Trap Labs by ~2 weeks, tentatively November 26th, followed by mobile release before the Holidays start. I apologize for the delay as deploying multiplayer took longer than expected. The good news is that there is a new mode that I'm super excited about: online story co-op. This mode will allow you to play the entire 100 levels of story campaign publicly or privately with your friends online.

To make up for the delay, I'll be releasing Trap Labs with a launch discount. In addition, anyone who already purchased a Steam key or will get a free Steam key from the giveaways may receive a release override Steam key upon request. This will allow you to play the entire single player campaign before release. Simply contact me through Discord/Email/comments with your Steam info if interested.

It’s finally here! The first official Trap Labs trailer. It’s been a long journey, but the game is almost ready for release! This trailer hopefully gives everyone a better idea of what the single player campaign story is like. What’s also super exciting is that I hired a great composer to create a custom soundtrack for the game. You'll get to sample a bit of it in the trailer.

The game is actually about done but I decided to delay the game launch a bit, so I could focus on doing some pre-release marketing and server deployment. I want to iron out all the issues on public server with some closed beta testing. If you are interested in helping me test please send me an at traplabsgame@gmail.com. Testing starts early October.

A new Trap Labs demo has been released! The art was completely redone, and many new features were added. The game looks and feels completely different. I wrote a new story with a silly and comedic premise and decided that the flat cartoon style of the early 2000s would work nicely. The art is heavily influenced by shows like Fairly OddParents, Dexter's Lab, and PPG.

The demo includes 26 hand crafted levels made just for the demo, 5 bonus challenges, and one multiplayer map available for testing. Let let us know if you have feedback in the community forums!

To celebrate the release of the new demo we will be giving away the full game to 14 people and up to 2 of their friend upon final release!
