Theme Park Studio - PanteraEnt
Hello Everyone,

We hope you are enjoying the Christmas season.

We are happy to announce phase 4 is complete. We have also optimized memory, improved performance, and fixed bugs. Some of you may notice a significant performance increase.

Phase 4 allows you to attach audio to objects in your scene. For example, you can attach a motor sound to the center of the swing ride, then attach guest audio to each chair. As the swing ride rotates, the audio will change in volume and pan from ear to ear as the guests swing by the camera.

We have provided over a hundred audio samples in the sound effect library. Of course, since Theme Park Studio is all about customization, you are free to use your own audio samples if you wish. There is also a new audio properties panel for customizing each audio source to your individual needs.

For a quick start tutorial, simply add the Cyclone ride to your scene. Next click on the audio button from the side toolbar and open up the 'Flat Ride' sound effects panel. For this example we will use the 'Ferris Wheel Generator' sound. After clicking the thumbnail, hover the mouse over top of the ride. The part name will appear and begin with 'HUR2_TowerTop'. Left click to add the sound and press escape to exit 'Add Audio' mode. That is all there is to it. Now press the 'Test' park button on the top toolbar and you can audition your audio source.

Next we will add a hiss sound. Press the 'Test' button again to exit 'Test' mode. Click on the 'Mechanical' library button from the tool bar and press the 'Hiss' sound effect. Next hover the mouse over one of the arms, for example 'HUR2_Arm1', and left click to add the sound. Press Escape to exit 'Add Audio' mode. Now click on the 'Properties button on the bottom of the toolbar. Change 'Start Attenuation' to 20 to increase the audio, uncheck 'Pitch Shift', uncheck 'Loop', and enter '5' into 'Loop Interval' so the hiss sound will play every 5 seconds. Now press 'Test' park'. The ride now plays with a hiss sound from one of the arms every 5 seconds. As you can see the audio possibilities are almost endless.

Finally, we added the ability to attach a stereo music source to any coaster. Music is streamed and played while riding first person. We've provided some songs in the new music library, but you are free to stream your own custom music.

Documentation for the new audio features can be found in the Help menu.

Thank you for working with us during Early Access.

Hello Everyone,

We are happy to announce a new Theme Park Studio update has been released. This update brings the much anticipated wood coasters and includes:

Wood Coasters and Tiered Supports
Mountain Flyer Coaster
Mine Train Coasters
Coaster Audio
Rail Mirror Functions
Bank Smoothing
Support Texture Switching
Optimizations

In this update, we focused on creating detailed wood coaster rails and supports, while still providing real-time easy construction. For example, as the rails are shaped, the catwalks scale, ties rotate, pivot points auto adjust, and supports auto clip, all in real-time as you build. The end result is amazing looking wood coasters built using a super easy to use real-time editor, allowing you to create the coaster of your dreams.

Amazing coaster audio was also introduced in this update. Now you can become fully immersed in the coaster experience as you hear digitally recorded lifts, hydraulics, brakes, ambient sounds, wheel roars, and more.. Of course, our Oculus Rift support takes immersion to an even further level.

We also added a new set of buttons to the Express Editor that allow you to dynamically add tiers to your support structures and change the textures.

Per customer request, we added new horizontal and vertical mirror buttons to the editor, allowing you to quickly and easily reverse the direction of any new, or pre-built, coaster segment.

Auto smoothing was added to banks for all coaster types.

Optimizations were added to further improve framerate during construction and playback.

Finally, a few new trains were introduced with this update. These include the new wood and mine train rail styles.

We look forward to the next phases and appreciate everyone working with us during early access and helping make Theme Park Studio the ultimate theme park simulator.

Hello Everyone,

A new update has been uploaded and it contains many great new features.

We are pleased to announce that this new build integrates Oculus Rift support. This is a feature many of our Kickstarter backers have been looking forward to, so we set aside time during this development stage to add Oculus support and fulfill our Kickstarter commitment. We sincerely thank our backers for their continued support. To activate Oculus Rift from within Steam, simply right click on Theme Park Studio from within your game library and click 'Properties'. Next click 'Set Launch Options', type in -oculusfullscreen ( for fullscreen mode) or -oculus for windowed mode.

In addition, this build also contains the following new features:

Four new coasters (Giga, Dragster, Floorless, and Inverted)
Animated brakes transport tires, and new LIMs
Block segments
Multiple trains per coaster
Dynamic track selection (change coaster track type even after you build your design)
Dynamic train length
Advanced Properties Panel
Custom Train Importing
Brake hold time
Fullscreen mode

These enhancements will greatly improve on the quality and realism of your coasters.

Most of the audio has been recorded and over 200 samples created. Audio will be integrated over the next couple weeks. We will also be finishing wood coasters for the final Stage 3 release.

In case you missed it, here is the September Park of the Month by EMC2.

Hello Everyone,

One of the more exciting features Theme Park Studio offers is coaster train construction and importing. This is a feature found exclusively in Theme Park Studio.

Custom train construction is as easy to use as our new Express Coaster Editor. This feature will roll out with the next stages. For a demonstration of its ease of use, refer to this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYD2CbvKr7k

For the ultimate in customization, Theme Park Studio's other unique feature allows you to import any model you design. It will apply physics and animate based on simple naming conventions. There is no need to setup hierarchies, or apply joints. All you need to do is assign a tag to the name. During import, Theme Park Studio does all the work parsing your file and setting the hierarchy, links, and animations for you. If you want to get started building a custom train from scratch, we have added a new manual 'Importing Custom Trains' which can be found under Help/Documentation. This will explain the tags you assign and how train pieces are broken up.

Remember, if you are a casual user, and do not want to build trains from scratch, it is no problem. We will soon be rolling out our custom train construction set. Using this tool you can assemble a custom train within Theme Park Studio, with no need for external software.

With both these features being unique to Theme Park Studio, we offer the casual gamer and the advanced user the ultimate in custom train design.

On a final note: Congratulations to Jcat for being August Park of the Month Winner (seen here).

His park is available for download in Steam Workshop. 'Park of the Month' winners will be selected using a combination of community votes and careful internal review. Parks will be chosen based on creativity, park layout, environment, and coaster design. Winners will be presented on the Steam Announcement page, Facebook, Youtube channel, and in our newsletter.

If you would like to submit your park as a September Park Of The Month candidate, email support@themeparkstudio.com

Thank you all for your continued support
