The Path of Greatest Resistance - RealityRig
Slow enemy projectiles in mid-air with the TimeSaber. Remember, the "time field" extends from the blade-edge of the TimeSaber, so you must weild it properly to slow the projectiles down.

Mission 4 is the only Mission in the game with the TimeSaber, but there are some other weapons for you to experience in the full game.

I haven't decided for sure, but the demo may only be downloadable for a limited time.

You can now enable body tracking in The Path of Greatest Resistance! For best results, use 3 Vive Trackers in addition to your controllers. If you only have 2 Vive Trackers, you can just have it track your feet without hip tracking. You can activate the body tracking version of the game through the Steam DLC interface (it's free to people who've purchased the game).

To try it out, strap two Vive Trackers to the top of your shoes, and attach one on your back attached to your belt.

Jog-in-Place Locomotion
When The Path of Greatest Resistance first came out, it had a "jog-in-place" locomotion mode--but the jogging locomotion was calculated by the bobbing motion of the headset.

Now, with body tracking enabled, you can move forward just by stepping up and down with your feet.

Foot Tracking and the future of VR Locomotion
In The Path of Greatest Resistance, you only move straight forward along the path. But I imagine that some games in the future could use feet tracking and walking in place to give you full 360 degree movement.

Over the past couple of years, many people have pondered different ways to solve the VR locomotion problem. Is locomotion based on foot tracking going to be a common thing in future? I'm not really sure yet. The version here is just one implementation, and it's not necessarily the "perfect" implementation of foot-step locomotion. It's possible that in the future we'll have games with algorithms that are able to more naturally translate body movement into forward locomotion. If you try it, feel free to let me know if you like it or hate it!

Jogging is Optional
You don't need to play in "Jog in Place Mode" to use the body tracking. You can still play in normal mode if you want a less physically intense experience.

The Path of Greatest Resistance - RealityRig
The Path of Greatest Resistance has now been updated to Unreal Engine 4.15. Along with the engine upgrade comes some changes that are probably not noticeable to the average player, as well as a new feature that's currently "hidden"--but will soon be revealed and accessible at no extra charge through the Steam DLC system.

The Path of Greatest Resistance - RealityRig

This week I added virtual arms. They're disabled by default, but they can be enabled in the "Game Options" menu.

They won't perfectly match your real life arms, but I think having some form of bodily presence can help increase the feeling of immersion. Turning the arms on may add some extra load to your CPU and graphics card.

[Note: you can't really tell from the GIF, but there is an area between the sleeve and glove that is still "invisible" even with the arms on]

UPDATE: Mission 5 is in the main branch now, as well as Mission 6. Mission 6 gives you "MagneGuns" that can "magnetically" pull in robots and launch them. Check it out!

(Remember, if you want to play the later missions without beating the earlier ones.., you can unlock them by choosing "Game Options" from the main menu, then choosing "Cheating Options" and then choosing to unlock all the missions.)

Deflect plasma bolts in an early version of mission 5. Try it out by switching to the beta branch of The Path of Greatest Resistance.

To install the beta version, right click on "The Path of Greatest Resistance" in your steam library, and choose "Properties." Click the "Betas" tab in the window that opens, and select "thepathofgreatestresistance_beta" from the drop down menu. That should download an update for you that lets you try it out when you play mission 5.
