Dear Scavengers!

Titled 'Pastoral Waves', this update introduces a brand-new gameplay mechanic - deepening the experience and unlocking fresh possibilities for players to explore!

And as we get closer to launch, the team are excited to share more exclusive details about the new mechanic coming into the game, and it mainly consist of two parts:

• Animal Husbandry (for land animals)

• Aquaculture (for fish)

In this dev log, we’ll focus on Animal Husbandry - digging into its main features and elements. Whether you’re a seasoned farmer or new to Doloc Town, this guide will help you better prepared for the update!

In the 'Pastoral Waves' Update, you’ll meet a new faction NPC: Kenenimuu.

A seasoned rancher from the distant grasslands, he’s journeyed far from the north to share his expertise in Doloc Town. As someone with extensive nomadic experience and a deep reverenc for nature, he’s ready to share the knowledge and practices of coexisting with animals to the residents of Doloc Town! During the learning process, the protagonist will also unlock an entirely new technology tree :)

After some tutorial sessions, you'll be able to purchase livestock directly from him - each adorable baby animal comes neatly packed in a sack, ready to be released at your farm!

Now it’s time to embrace your inner rancher! Construct dedicated buildings and facilities to house your livestock :)

As mentioned in our previous dev log, each animal has two distinct growth stages - and they’re not just scaled-up versions! Their appearances change as they mature.

As a rancher in Doloc Town, your duties include:

• Feeding them nutritious meals

• Cleaning up after them

• Maintaining their happiness to ensure they thrive

• Ready to harvest animal products once they reach maturity and stays happy

• Breeding new livestock on your farm

We’ve carefully designed every aspect of the ranching system to be engaging and rewarding. Take feeding as an example - you’ll have plenty of delicious options to choose from!

Feel free to toss fibers, endyams, or other plants into the feeding troughs. Some feeds fill the trough faster than others, as they’re more nutritious. You can even craft your own custom-made special feed for maximum nutrients.

Alternatively, you could opt for a free-range approach - let your livestock graze on wild grass or even snack on plants from your pots right by your farm! You might even discover some secret benefits from letting them roam :)

Once your livestock grows up and is well cared for, they’ll start producing raw materials - each type of livestock provides something unique.

Sell products as-is for quick turnovers, or refine them into premium goods through new recipes - the choice is yours!

Have way too many animals at your farm overtime? No worries! You can sell any of your livestock for a tidy sum - just pop them back into the magical sack and trade them away.

And hold onto your hats! What we've shared today is just the beginning - we've got an entire Aquaculture ecosystem waiting in the wings! Stay tuned for our next dev log where we'll dive deeper into the other section of the 'Pastoral Waves' update, and get ready to experience it all when the update officially launches in late August!

Hello Egg Collectors!

I hope your summer break have been great! I've managed to find time to update some smaller issues and continued the port for the Nintendo Switch version (are we allowed to talk about that stuff here?).

Either way, for the upcoming console release and future of PaperKlay I wanted to make sure the artwork reflected the tone of the game (for context, the previous artwork was made after working on the game for 5 months, and the full release took almost 3.5 years so the game changed in tone a bit in that time).

Patch Notes:

• Floor is lava puzzle should now be more stable when on low framerate.

• Fixed small visual issue in last Nugget level.

• Cogs on the side of the screen in pause menu are now hidden when not able to be used to avoid confusion.

• Secret door in Wool Tower now have collision... forcing you to actually solve the secret.

• Changed a platform sequence in the third remix level, this should improve framerate.

• Fixed issue where the black shadow below player would sometimes get stuck when jump off a ledge.

This is the "full artwork" but I'll mostly use a version with less characters to make it more readable!
