Greetings Players,

The process of developing and updating The Lost Island was a hell of a ride for us. We gained a lot of experience and drank liters of coffee on the night shifts.

Sadly, now we must end this chapter and remove The Lost Island from the steam store. This was announced mid-2017 on our company blog already. Don't worry, if you bought it, it will stay on your account. The Lost Island was not a successful game, we tried to improve it and remade it numerous times. After about 2 years we were working on a new project and are planning to release it soon.

If you own a copy of The Lost Island, you will receive an unreleased Title for free if you bought The Lost Island on Steam in the early days. Bundle Keys are not included! ( More to that soon! )

For the record: It won't be a remake of The Lost Island.

Allright,

After 3 days here is the hotfix.
This includes several bugfixes and improvements.

Fixed:
- Multiplayer & Serverbrowser.
- Performance Issues
- Connection Timeout due Reliable Buffer Overflow.
- More Loot.
- Several collisions.

Changed:
- Volume of Loading Screen

The Lost Island Update Notes 1.5_8 Preview Version


[Intro]

First of all thanks for waiting so long for this update. It was a big step forward to invest a little more time.

You may ask why ?

We had to make the game completely new from scratch. Things got better. But we have a lot bugs. But the good part about that is that we finished the main part of the game and future updates won't take so long until they get released. That means until we release 1.5 as full version there will be many updates. So if you don't want to update automatically always 2 -4 GB you should turn off automatic updates for this game.



[KEY BINDINGS]

W A S D - Movement

SPACE - Jump

TAB - Inventory

C - Crafting Menu

Left ALT - Toggle Between show Mouse.

Escape - Opens the Escape Menu

Left Mouse Button ( LMB ) - Fire/Chop/etc..

Right Mouse Button ( RMB ) - Toggle Build Menu/etc.

E - Use Items / Doors / etc.

[FAQ]:

We want trading cards!

Yeah yeah... We know. We are on it. We had so much work todo that it was nearly impossible to work on it. But we submitted them to steam and we still have to make some changes to the trading cards until valve accepts them.



Achievements what's wrong with them?

At the moment only a few are build inside and we are not sure if they work properly in the new version of The Lost Island.



Why Preview Version of Update 1.5?

It's easy. We don't want to let you wait anymore and show the progress of The Lost Island :)



Don't hate us if something doesn't work on your PC right.

We know some people writing to us we are doing scam and stuff like that because the quality of the game doesn't look like as on our hardware or isn't running so good as by us. We did a lot in the update to let customer see more detail in levels.



All in all this is a preview let us know about bugs or massive problems.



[Known Bugs]:

Connection to Master Server sometimes fails.

Long Loading Times.

Not moving AI (sometimes).

Massive Lag on spawn. ( Gets away after a minute. Maybe it's longer if you have a toaster as PC. )

Cursor Bug : Can be fixed by pressing ALT and Left Mouse Button in the window.

On non Multiplayer Sessions the Authority has some bugs with the Inventory. ( Not hardcore bugs. Will still work normally )

Item Spawns ( Some locations doesn't have loot for some reason ) (sometimes)

Weird Footstep Sound Bug in Multiplayer. ( Possible due lags. Sounds getting spawned on server)



[CHANGE LIST]

So what is new in The Lost Island?

Core Changes:

- Game Code is now completely written in C++ and uses Blueprint Parent Classes.

- TrueSky

- New Inventory System.

- New Equipment System.

- New Loot System.

- 3rd Person Character and 1st Person Hands.

- Net code Changes : 70% of functions are running now on server side.

- Client Animations got reworked.

- Harvest System is completely reworked. You can chop wood now to 500 a stack.

- Quick Crafting got implemented.

- Crafting Menu got reworked. No workbench needed at the moment.

- Main Menu got reworked.

- Options Menu - Added more video option.

- Steam SDK updated.

- Second DRM Implemented for banning emulated steam clients. Checking if steam access is original.

- Dedicated Server implementation with Normal & Offical Server got implemented.

- 2 AIs : ( "Deer", "Crazy Shooting Guy") got added. One is friendly, one is an enemy.

- You can now get raw deer flesh and cook in on a campfire.

- Building Menu for building got added. ( "Right Click with the Hammer").

- Fixed the Inventory System

- Debug Monitor got added.

- Building Plot got added.

- 8 Random Characters on Spawn implemented.

And many more. It's to much to list. I mean the game is completely new....



Planned for next Update ( 1.5 Preview 9 ):

- Upgradable Bases.

- Way more Items.

- New Achievements.

- Furnace.

- Storages.

- Fixed Item Spawns.

- More Locations.



Planned for 1.6:

- Finally a Story with awesome shit we wrote already on paper.

All in all we need some massive sleep now after this work. Have fun playing it and don't forget to give us feedback and bug reports.

The complete player functions have been changed.
New functions have been added.
And a complete new map kicks in.

At the moment we're still working on mechanics and the complete new map "The Island".



For giving you something special and new with good quality and performance, it will still take a while until we finished the update successfully.

Hello Community,

We want to share some more information about the new update that comes soon.

So well be prepared for something completly new.

So we are working atm at:

- The Island ( A new map where the story takes place )
- Ocean Shader with planner reflections.
- New Inventory System. Also random loot and enemy loot.
- Crafting System is now better and has a new design.
- Better Character Design

- Hats
- A lot new locations
- Gamemode Functions ( Survival has now something special for you. )
- Worked on multiplayer replication again. Now less net traffic for better gameplay.

- We let us some time with the dedicated server until it's more better working together with the client.

- Menu Design has been changed.
- Texture Streaming has been disabled for more detailed textures.
- Procedural Terrain
-> Terrain Streaming ( Map Streaming ).

And much more.
We give our best to finish this update very soon as possible.
But we won't rush this update to deliver you now some quality.
You may noticed this because it takes more time than the updates before.

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the latest news from May. We want to keep our players up to date and let you know that we are still working on an update. The current update we're working on ( 1.5.1_alpha ) will take more time as we thought.

We're working on new mechanics also on a bigger world and on the net code.
A complete different Inventory takes place in the new version.
You can kill multiply AI's and loot them.
Texture Streaming will be disabled for better results and awesome graphics.
( Better Qualtiy = Long Loading Times )

The UI will be changed.
Matchmaking will be implemented and a help desk will be added to the menu.
We want to make the game community friendly and multiplayer friendly.

A new crafting system makes crafting and building much easier.

So well as you can see we have a lot of work.
We got some impressions from the community we wan't to involve.

Hello community,
this big update comes a little later but we think the waiting was worth it.
The overall performance of the game has been improved, this means more fps for everyone !



Multiplayer

Core
  • Multiplayer Mode over steam has been added.

  • Dedicated Server support has been added.

  • Dedicated Server APPID 460670 . Please note this server build is only for Windows x64.

  • A guide how to setup is included in the serverfiles.
Known Issues

  • Black Screen ( Check your firewall, delete your settings files under TheLostIslandAlpha/TheLostIslandAlpha/saved/config, connect to a server using default graphic settings. )

  • NetCode : sometimes lags.

  • Fast Crafting: Your inventory can sometimes bug when you press the crafting buttons to fast. ( Rejoin the server/session ).

  • No players getting displayed in the serverbrowser. ( Seems like it's an bug with our engine and steamservice ) ( Should only be with dedicated servers ).

  • Dedicated Server Models do not collide with player ( Only on dedicated server).

    Note: We try to fix these in upcoming hotfixes
Upcoming Features

  • Own Hostname.

  • Set maximum playersize.

  • Join over friendlist.

  • NetCode : Saving Bandwitdh.

  • Fast Crafting Bug gets fixed by a complete new coded system ( design is the same ).

What ports do I need to open in my router or firewall?
  • NOTE: Also for Ingame Multiplayer those ports need to be open otherwise other player can't see your server.

  • 7777 TCP & UDP

Dedicated Server can't connect to steam service.

  • If this is so make sure you ran the server.exe with the parameters "-log -AUTH_LOGIN=anonymous".

  • If this also not work, download the steamclient from http://store.steampowered.com and run it. You dont need to login just make sure it is running even if it's the login window.

  • When everything doesn't work that got listed check your firewall and ask your hoster for help.

Core Game
  • The Main Menu has been completly remade and you can also change now the key bindings.

  • The Building system has been completly reworked.

  • You can rotate and move the build part away/closer with the arrow keys.

  • Crafting Menu got reworked.

  • New craftable Items.

  • All actors are replicated.

  • New Inventory UI.

  • Character Animation has completly reworked.

  • New loot containers with random loot and respawnable loot got added.

  • 17 New characters have been added to the main player.

  • Player death has been reworked. Player respawns now.

  • Random spawn locations.

  • Character HUD got completly reworked.

  • Character Sounds got reworked.

  • Crouching has been added, you can crouch only when no weapons or tools are equipped.

  • Tree's are destructable, Rocks are destructable.

Level Changes

  • Over 900 LOD models have been added to approx. 450 models.

  • Map foliage got completly reworked. Now with lod's and culling.

  • Terrain Texture was reworked to increase performance.

  • Day/Night Cycle was readded.

  • Loot containers got added to the map.

  • Some meshes got adjusted.

  • Post Process was completly changed.

Greetings Community,

After a very long time developing the update 1.4 , it seems that we are in the final steps of our update and shouldn't take too much time until we publish it.

However there are some tricky problems with our dedicated server so we still need to fix some problems with the dedicated server and our masterserver until we can publish the update.

That may take some time but we hope we can fix this asap.
