The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC - Sara
The DirectX9 version is now considered officially out of beta!

Note to existing players: You may need to open the DX9 configuration before running the game if you don't go back to DX8 mode!

I'm officially ending the DirectX9 beta as I feel that there are few enough bugs left to make it the default version of the game. With this change, you'll find that the game now launches as DirectX9 normally, but the DirectX8 version and its Configuration Tool still remain as an accessible option from the Steam Library.

Turbo Mode is also considered much less buggy than it was at release and you should no longer be able to break the universe using it. Sorry, universe-breaking fans!

What's more, all of these changes are now available on GOG Galaxy as well, and the version of the game available on both services is identical, even able to unlock GOG and Steam achievements at the same time if you own the game on both services and have them both open.

These patches will be coming to GOG for non-Galaxy users and to our DRM-free players very soon, too!

Thanks for your patience, guys!

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC - Sara
Hey guys,

Leading up to the launch of Trails in the Sky the 3rd, we've been doing a flurry of patches for Trails in the Sky ("FC") and its sequel Second Chapter ("SC").

Normally, I don't post information about patches very often, because it tends to be small maintenance updates or minor fixes that I may not even remember by the time I'm ready to push a patch. My workflow is very chaotic, and while I know that this inconveniences many, all I can do is apologize for it. I am doing my best, however, to work on the games, you can rest assured of that!

Since these patches can be rather big, though, I felt it was best to give a heads-up about what we've been doing. So without further ado, here's the gist of what the patches recently for the two games contain:

-The character formerly referred to as Zane will henceforth be known as Zin. More information here.
-Some other localization changes have been made to keep consistency and improve accuracy of a few terms. The prior link covers too!
-Redid the scaling of some system interface items in high-resolution asset mode -- the Camp Menu, Bracer Book, etc. buttons. I think they look a lot smoother now.
-Added high-resolution assets for chapter start and chapter end splash screens.
-Added widescreen assets for chapter start and chapter end splash screens. These might look a bit ugly in 16:10 and ultra-wide right now. Please bear with me while I improve them moving forward. These will only be used when high-resolution assets are enabled, on widescreen resolutions.
-Added high-resolution and widescreen assets for flashbacks. The same notes apply for those, too.
-Added high-resolution assets for the notebook. The current images are just upscaled, but we plan to add better replacements in the future. Apologies for any inconvenience!
-Due to the changes made to accomodate the above high-resolution additions (chapter/flashback/notebook), the game uses a little bit more memory now, but it should also be more stable.
-Made slight adjustments to how pillars are drawn for 4:3 visual images.
-(SC) Fixed a bug where the top buttons in the Camp Menu didn't make a sound, even though they do in FC and 3rd.

Besides that, I'm going to be adding improved FMVs to both games soon, which will result in a rather large download. I apologize in advance, but I think the result will be worth it!
