Survival Games - 2.0 Studios
Greetings and salutations!

Survival Games v0.11.9.0 has been uploaded to early access. This build carries a huge fix list, as well as an entirely new game mode.

Zombies Mode:

This game mode flips the concept of battle royale upside down, with four players working together to defeat the hordes of undead instead of competing against each other. The game type takes place in the urban confines of City 26, which has been sealed behind walls.

The Dynamic maps from Battle Royale are also present in Zombies Mode. Each time you play, different buildings will be present, or in different states of destruction. Chests with random contents will also appear in semi random locations. Hard to reach places, will have the best tier loot.

Scenarios:

A scenario is a level, or campaign within the Zombies Mode. Each can start with a different starting set of weapons, and will feature different waves of undead as well as different starting areas.

The Zombies:

Zombies are best killed with high power rifles, and automatic weapons. Guns are your best friends, but there is a myriad of melee weapons you can also pick up.

There are several varieties of zombies, but Suckers are a nasty little one, that will cling to your face. It's best to have a teammate shoot them off. But if you're alone, you can melee them off as well.

Fixes:
This update also carries a lot of fixes and improvements. Please click over here for the full list of changes!

Bots are coming to multiplayer, along with improvements to the matchmaking flow of Survival Games. Keep reading to find out what's going on.

Building a community

When the 2014 edition of Survival Games shipped, the Xbox 360 player based simply existed from day one up until the end of XBLIG. Steam is an entirely different animal, so we at 2.0 at working on building up a larger community of active gamers. But it's a chicken and egg problem, where people want more people to play so that they as people can play against the people they need to play.

Bots Joining You

We are implementing bots as a ramp, to get games going. Bots will join newly created games, providing the minimum players needed to play a round of Battle Royale. They'll also quit games with high player counts, as we want the gamers behind the keyboard to get the satisfaction of kills, not my code.

Bots stealin' yo loot

Survival Games has a lot of game mechanics. Scavenging, killing players, hunting animals and eating are a few of the keys ones. Bots abide by these game mechanics just like players, and can navigate the terrain as well as any player. They are also aware of advanced mechanics such as footprints, and buff characteristics of foods.

Spreading the Word

The most obvious way to grow the multiplayer community, is simply for us to advertise. Go get more people. We're playing the long game with Survival Games, and will only knuckle down on marketing when the game has solved all the technical methods of building a multiplayer community. You'll see gaming events, key give aways and few other things like that later on.

Community members have introduced us to things like SteamGifts, and Woovit which have been helpful! So if you know something, pass it on and we'll use it!

We're building up the multiplayer base after Survival Game's launch into early access. Keep reading to learn the best times to play, and how to get a free copies for you or your friends!

The New Kid

Survival Games is new to early access, having only released a few days ago and Battle Royale games are best with lots of players. This means the multiplayer community is in it's infancy, and we at 2.0 Studios are working to grow it!

Discord Community

Before we hit early access, we ran a private Beta the used our Discord server as a way to engage with the gamers who play. When we post updates, changelogs and news, this community of 1500 gamers is the first to know. We'll be on the chat channel during our events, if you're keen on having a chat with us.

Bug Hunting

This game is new, and it's likely there are some issues we have not found yet. This is a great opportunity for the Dev staff check things out, and respond with patches. So while you're here, let us know if you have any trouble or spot anything.

Freebies

During these events, we'll be giving away retail keys . Later, we will be handing out Steam Inventory Items. Stuff like hats, clothing and other cosmetics. Should be a bit of fun, and cool way to get some free stuff for our gamers.

Regular Events

Play with Devs is a regular event. So for those of you who own a copy, this is a great time to connect with a larger number of players. We'll be playing Battle Royale mode, but might switch to another mode if you guys want to give that a swing.

The 2.0 Team

FYI, we're a team of four. Three of us are full time developers, with two programmers and an artist. All three of our dev staff are online for these events. Our Steam Id's are Yado, Mulet_The_Great, 2p0_Studios and Danthekilla.

Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you online!

0.10.4.0 is the current version.

Today is the 10th of April 2018, launch day. As of 10:00pm, you can get a retail copy of Survival Games, at the discounted early access price. What's next? Keep reading to see what's up.

Beta Winding Down:

1400 beta keys have been given out and used by the Survival Games community. We're going to be closing down the Beta gradually. This means that Beta users, and Retail users will play together for a while as we transition from private Beta to Early Access. This will be complete by the end of April.

About Beta Keys:

Beta Keys are not retail keys. They let you play a different version of Survival Games, before the actual launch date. All Beta Keys will all be revoked during April 2018. Consider purchasing Survival Games if you had fun, or want to keep playing. If you got a Steam key from the bot POP-L0ck over on our Discord, then you have a Beta Key.

About Retail Keys:

These keys are permanent additions to your Steam Account. You get these by purchasing Survival Games through Steam. The game modes coming later, are included in your purchase. So you will receive updates for Warfare, Zombie Survival and the Map Editor as the developers complete the milestones.

Milestones and v1.0:

Each game mode, is a different two month milestone. We're launching with Battle Royale as the flagship game mode. Next, is Warfare Mode and after that is Zombie Survival. Finally there is the Map Editor with Steamworks integration. Version 1.0, is when all game modes are in and complete.

Price:

The full price of Survival Games is $19.95USD, but Early Access means that the game is not finished. So it is discounted to $9.95, with an additional 7 day 25% launch discount on top pushing it down to $7.47 USD

Update Information:

This thread, is filled with posts about what has changed, been added or fixed. You'll also see us on our Discord channel, twitter and the Steam Community hub posting information.

Survival Games began development in 2012. Here it is in 2018, taking its first exciting steps as a Multiplayer Steam game. May the odds be forever in your favour!

Ranged weapons are what you really want to find in Survival Games if you want to be more than first day fodder. Keep reading to learn about four of our favourites.

Battle Rifle

Medium to long range, with a three round burst. Load this beast up with Medium bullets and prepare to wreck face. Like all guns, there are rarity variants with the rarest blasting off four rounds per burst instead of three. And yes, it is inspired by Halo 2.

Flare Gun

Yes I know, it's a nautical tool used to signal help and it's utterly useless in a Battle Royale type game. But it does deal decent damage at range, and start fires. This makes a great distraction, and it's pretty shameful to get finished off by one of these.

SWAT Pistol

When you combine a regular 9199 Operator with an upgrade kit, you get one of these sexy little pieces. They also spawn in locked chests. When you Aim Down Sight (herafter referred to ADS in respect to this secondary function in regards to operation with lethal intent) you get some handy dandy zoom. Oh, and it won't show up a sound marker on the map. Sound markers are something we're adding next update. Woot!

Shotgun

Imagine if Katniss or Shuya got their greasy mits on a shotgun? Eight shells can be loaded in, for some up close mayhem. Scrap blocks can be blown away with impunity, and even bronze chests can be cracked open with a few shots. Have I mentioned that locked chests can just be destroyed to reveal contents?

Well, that’s four guns out of 34 in the game currently. I hope this helps you win. I hope you all win. Every game. I'll be back soon with more helpful info.

You can track other players in two ways, but most players don't know how. And we've loaded P0P-L0ck up with more Beta keys. Keep reading for the deets.

Blood
When hurt, all living things bleed. So when you are badly hurt, a bright red trail will be left behind. Crossing rivers and other water can hide the trail, but you really need to heal up. On the flip side, this makes hunting players and fast creatures (like cute bunnies) easier.

Footprints
Players leave behind footprints on soft terrain, such as grass. These are subtle dark spots, that can tell you if they are running or walking. Look at the spacing of the footprints. Since creatures also leave footprints behind, I'll be enlisting the help of a Penguin to help demonstrate.

Tracking
These two combined, make finding weaklings who run away from you quite easy. If you are the hunted however, you should note that hard surfaces such as metals and concrete can't have footprints. However blood will stain anything except water.

More Beta Keys
Over on the 2.0 Studios Discord, our bot has been loaded up with some more Beta keys. So jump onto the #Beta-Keys channel and say "I volunteer as tribute" and POP-L0k will DM you with a Steam key and instructions.

Launching into Early Access
So we've run out of show stopping bugs and issues. This means we will have to resort to actually releasing Survival Games into Early Access! After launch, we'll be working with the community to improve and expand the game up to the final version, with all four game modes.

Our launch date is April 10, 2018.

You can now build structures in Survival Games. This is done by finding Blueprint items in loot, and then using them. Keep reading to find out how to master this new dimension to gameplay in Survival Games.

Gotta go fast
You don’t want to be stuck in the open placing blocks one by one while someone else takes pot shots at you. Blueprints initiate construction, and complete on their own after several seconds. This leaves you free to completely focus on your survival. Only the parts of the structure currently visible, will offer protection so stay alert until construction is complete.

Drawing Attention
The “Scrap” material all blue prints are constructed from is unique to Blueprint objects. It’s also very visible texture, and this is all on purpose. We want players to easily notice structures and be drawn to them, which will inevitably start fights.

Valuable Contents
Some Blueprint structures contain more than just walls and obstacles. You’ll find kitchens, storage rooms and even instant gardens that you can loot for items. These are rare, and take longer to build which can attract opportunistic enemies lurking just out of site.

Wood, Concrete and Metal
These three material types offer different levels of protection. Metal being the toughest, can withstand the most damage. Wood however, completes construction the soonest. Throwing down obstacles when being chased, and going full turtle are two examples of smart use of these materials.

Inspired by a Legend
We saw a feature very similar to this in another wildly popular game, and decided that the addition of self-completing construction would be something incredibly fun for players of Survival Games. And yes, that game we were so inspired by is of course, the Command and Conquer series.

Block Engine Shenanigans
Survival Games is block game, so has a fully editable world. When you take resources from the map, they physically change the map for the rest of the game. If someone digs a tunnel and reinforces it with blue prints, you can later exploit their work for your own survival. This is also what powers the dynamic maps of Battle Royale mode.

We are now almost ready for early access, with the addition of this huge feature. Follow Survival Games, and add it to your wish list to be notified of updates and release!
