Hey everyone,

The fine folks at Failbetter Games (creators of TLG favorite, the richly textured seafaring survival exploration game Sunless Sea) have kicked off #LoveIndies Week, an event with the goal of celebrating indie games and their communities, while also highlighting how reviews can be a massive help to developers! Such a lovely initiative on their part!

In the spirit of the celebration, we’d like to officially re-iterate what we don’t mention nearly enough: the Thunder Lotus community is our family. Your trust and support is at the root of our work, and we never take it for granted. Thank you for supporting Thunder Lotus Games – we wouldn’t be able to do what we love without you!

Please show your love during #LoveIndies Week!

You might not know how much a simple review or rating can mean to an indie development team. They absolutely do make a huge difference to us: to our morale, visibility and sales.

All this week we’re going to recommend games from other studios that we love, and we hope you’ll take the time to rate, review and recommend indie games that you’ve loved here on Steam as well. Spread the love on social with the #LoveIndies hashtag too!

Check out our latest indie game recommendations on our Steam Developer Page!

Have a great #LoveIndies Week, y'all!

Featuring Fabulously Furious Final Flourishes!

Hey everyone,

We’re totally stoked to be unleashing the long-awaited Sundered Finisher Update, chock-full of delicious quality of life improvements and the badass titular finishing moves that will have you obliterating eldritch hordes in style! The Sundered Finisher Update arrives automatically as a free update to all Steam players today. Important additional updates to Sundered are still to come!

Here’s what’s in store for y’all in the Finisher Update:

  • Added a set of new combat moves we call Finishers. Once a certain number of melee attacks have been landed in a short time frame, a powerful Finisher attack is ready to be unleashed! Finishers are available from the start of the game
  • Huge balance pass to make the game smoother and reduce moments where grind feels necessary: Reworked and improved early game pacing; Increased shard drops in the early game.
  • Expanded the skill tree with new nodes and rebalanced some stat multipliers and perks.
  • Defeated bosses can be fought again for reduced rewards.
  • Added player markers to help locate the player in crowded or zoomed out locations (can be toggled in the options).
  • Tweaked minimap legend so each icon is more easily recognizable.
  • Modified tip system so as to not spoil content that is not yet accessible to the player.
  • Reduced loading times and stabilized frame rate (hurray!).
  • Other minor bug fixes.

Please remember that your feedback is crucial for us, so please do leave or update your review on our Store page , and strike up a conversation about this update with us on our Forums!

ICYMI: The "Not-A-Metroidvania" Bundle!

Finally, don’t forget that the Not-A-Metroidvania Bundle is still live, and that you stand to save a pretty penny on some of the best games of the-genre-that-shall-not-be-named, especially with the deeper Summer Sale discounts!

Hey everyone,

We’ve partnered with some of our favorite developers to launch the “Not-A-Metroidvania” Bundle , available NOW! It contains four of the best games in the genre-that-shall-not-be-named: Dead Cells by Motion Twin, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition by DrinkBox Studios, Salt and Sanctuary by Ska Studios, and Sundered by Thunder Lotus Games… hey, that’s US!

For those unfamiliar with how bundles work on Steam, Steam doesn’t force you to re-buy the games you already have. Customers that purchase the Bundle will pay for, and receive, just the titles that they don’t already have in their Steam library, and a 20% discount will be applied to the total. In other words, this Bundle rewards your exquisite taste in games by letting you “complete your collection” and get a nice bonus discount on titles you were always tempted to get, but never got around to it.

That’s right, I did say bonus discount – because from now until this Friday, June 8th, each one of the titles in the Bundle are already discounted for Midweek Madness. Dead Cells will feature an additional 33% discount, while Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, Salt and Sanctuary, and Sundered will be discounted by an additional 40%. Again, the 20% Bundle discount gets applied on top of those discounts, which sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!

Have a great week, y’all!

Take it outside!

Friends,

Take my word for it: you simply haven't lived until you've gone toe to toe with Odin, The Allfather, and summarily handed his ass to him while riding a bus to work.

And behold! Jotun: Valhalla Edition, out today on Nintendo Switch, allows you to do just that!

Check out Jotun on the American Nintendo Store
Check out Jotun on the European Nintendo Store

And if riding public transit ain't your bag, our fans have imagined plenty of other fun places one could now conceivably play Jotun...

At any rate, we're super stoked to be releasing our first game on the Switch! If you are too, we hope you'll share the news, and maybe pick up a copy for yourself!

Cheers, y'all!

Jotun Thunders onto Nintendo Switch in Two Weeks!

Hey everyone,

Truly stoked to share this epic news with y'all: get ready for six more weeks of winter, as we're finally bringing Jotun to the Nintendo Switch! Jotun: Valhalla Edition drops on the vaunted console worldwide on April 27th, 2018!

Have a gander at the launch trailer, why dontcha?

Needless to say, we're very excited to be bringing our first game to the Switch - we're all life-long Nintendo fans over here, and have been in absolute lurve with the Switch since launch.

We wanted to take the time and make sure we were bringing the best possible version of Jotun to the system. Happily, the Switch has the horsepower to showcase Jotun in all its hand-drawn glory, even in handheld mode, so those who played the Wii U version especially will notice the great job the team has done remastering the graphics for the Switch release.

Also, since we play a lot with scale in Jotun, Thora often being dwarfed by titanic bosses, we had to rework some of the gameplay to allow for play on a potentially much smaller screen.

Keep your eyes on our social channels for a chance to win!

We hope you're all stoked to play the game on the Switch and, say, to beat Valhalla Mode without using God Powers *while commuting to work*!

We're so happy to finally have one of our games on the Switch that we'll be holding drawings to win Jotun Switch codes and other sweet goodies! Recommend you stay tuned to our social channels between now and launch day, is all I'm sayin'...

Facebook | Twitter

So stay frosty, y'all! Jotun is out on Switch in two weeks!

What's happening with Sundered?

That's a very good question, Bill!

The team remains hard at work lovingly polishing delicious DLC for the game. I can confirm that said DLC has been content-complete for a few weeks (and that it's awesome), but we're still tweaking it 'til it's up to your/our standards of excellence. We're tantalizingly close to being able to share Sundered news with you - news that goes beyond the DLC itself. If I say anymore, I'll be summarily killed. But I assure y'all that you won't be disappointed.

Stay tuned!

Happy Holidays from Thunder Lotus!

Hey everyone,

We're celebrating the end of a banner year here at Thunder Lotus! We welcomed over two million new TLG game owners to the family in 2017, and wanted to thank each and every one of you for your overwhelming support of Jotun and Sundered ! Happy Holidays from all of us here at Thunder Lotus Games to the best damn fans in gaming!

Below, I'm sharing a look back on our last twelve months, but I'd be remiss if I didn't first direct your attention to the Thunder Lotus Collection!

We're happy to report that both Jotun and Sundered are on sale for the Steam Winter Sale, with Sundered enjoying its deepest discount yet at -50%! If you were still on the fence about Sundered, it's a great time to pick it up (and spread the word)!

Do note as well that The Thunder Lotus Collection adds an extra -10% discount on top of that if you purchase our titles together (or are looking to complete your collection!). It's a crazy good deal, yo - worth a share, dontcha think?

This concludes our yuletide PSA. And now...

Our Year In Pictures

We wanted to take a moment to look back on a wonderful (and wonderfully busy) year for our team!

We hit the ground running in January this year, putting the finishing touches on a then-secret Kickstarter project that you should all be quite familiar with by now! Here, Will goofs off with Sam from Compulsion Games during the filming of a Kickstarter promo video:

It was a stellar month: thanks to our awesome fans, we quickly powered through funding milestones throughout the first hours and days of the campaign, and meanwhile, we were declared co-winners of the Ubisoft Indie Series!

Oh, and we caught the eye of one of our heroes.

January also kicked off a series of cross-country trips which brought us first to PAX South in San Antonio.

With our backers' tremendous support, we closed Sundered's Kickstarter campaign in February 800% funded, due in no small part to the surprise announcement of our partnership with the lovely and talented folks at Limited Run Games. (LRG's Doug pictured here with our Art Director at MIX!)

In March, our travels brought us down to the IGN offices, where we were invited to sign their wall of fame, humbled by names of gaming royalty that had come before us.

Later that month, we brought a small Thunder Lotus army down to Boston to greet enthusiastic fans and media at PAX East.

Spring found us bearing down in earnest through the rounds of Sundered’s Alpha and Beta periods, while our resident hand-drawn animation genius’ prodigious output continued unabated.

Our appearance at the sunshiny E3 gigantocon heralded the coming of summer and the last straightaway leading to Sundered’s July release!

By summer, production was rolling a mile a minute, a blur of incessant testing, tweaking, testing, re-tooling, and testing while gorgeous fan art multiplied on the walls of our office.

In July, a Jotun free weekend added two million people (of exquisite taste) to the Thunder Lotus family overnight, and before we could say R'lehshyshtag', Sundered was unleashed upon the world, happily catching the eye of the likes of Rock, Paper, Shotgun (among many others)!

Upon our return from much needed vacation time in the fall, we kept a low profile, working in hushed secrecy on Sundered DLC...

While bringing a new creative director onto the team to head up our “Top Secret!, OMG! That’s so awesome!” third project. (Gonna be a while before we can tell you more - sorry/not sorry for the tease!) ːsteammockingː

Meet Nicolas Guérin, who has that fresh "new creative director" smell!

Much love from all of us here!

That’s all she wrote, folks! Stick a fork in 2017, it’s fully done!

From all of us here, thanks again for helping to make this the best year yet for Thunder Lotus! Stay happy and healthy this holiday season, and we’ll see you in the new year!

Cheers, and much love!
