Tomb Raider: Legend

PS3 Getting Tomb Raider Trilogy In 2011The PS3 will get a Tomb Raider trilogy comprised of high-definition re-releases of of Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary, plus Tomb Raider Underworld, says a senior executive with the studio that made the games.

Karl Stewart, the global brand director for Crystal Dynamics, confirmed via Twitter that a German Amazon.com listing for the trilogy is legitimate. "Yes, it's official. #TombRaider PS3 'Trilogy' pack coming in the new year. Full details next week. Watch this space."

Joystiq noticed the German listing earlier today. The trilogy's listing gave March 22 as a delivery date, and says that all three games will offer trophy support. The collector's edition will unlock male and female avatars for use in PlayStation Home.

Just Cause

The Just Cause Movie Wants To Be Like Bond, James BondJust Cause, a game series starring a swarthy man bathed in tight shirts and explosions, was always going to get a film adaptation. Thankfully, that adaptation sounds faithful to the games. Well, as faithful as you could get.

The game's racial stereotypes will never make the big screen, nor the specifics from a pair of stories so awful you forget them while you're playing the games, but the important stuff, that's there. Like star Rico. And his grappling hook. And that's it!

The Just Cause movie, which is being written by Michael Ross, will be an origin story, telling the tale of a man who transforms into the international gun for hire known as "The Scorpion".

The movie's production team is hoping to capture a "Casino Royale" vibe, full of "hyper real" fight sequences. Or, as "hyper real" as a man with a magic grappling hook and a salsa dancer's outfit can manage, at least.

Just Cause 2

This base-jump in Just Cause 2 certainly gives new meaning to the term "leap of faith".

Press play, then wait for the parachute to open. You'll, uh, be waiting a while.

Just Cause 2 was a sandbox adventure game released earlier this year on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. We never got around to reviewing it, but if you must know what one of us thinks, I rather enjoyed it.

Just Cause

Just Cause Movie Gets A ScreenwriterA Just Cause movie, which we got wind of a year ago, now has a screenwriter and another producing partner, signaling that we're a step closer to an action-movie video game adapted into a video game action movie.

Michael Ross, whose credits include the 2006 horror flick "Turistas," has been brought aboard to write the script. Joining in the production is L+E Pictures, helmed by Eric Eisner, the son of former Disney chief Michael Eisner. Adrian Askarieh, of Prime Universe Productions, is still aboard. Askarieh has ties to Eidos games, as the producer involved with the Hitman movie and the ongoing Kane & Lynch adaptation.

The Eisner/Askarieh alliance is working to develop the film before shopping for a studio to start filming it.

Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 has an amazing grappling hook technique, but it's got limits: you can only attach it to one thing (either two objects to each other or one to yourself). Lucky for us PC mods know no limits!

This is Bolo's Patch, for the PC version of the game, which gives you multiple grappling hook attachments. Letting you attach it to something, then something else, then something else, etc etc. Or, in practical terms, from a chopper to a truck to a corpse to a truck to a tank to another truck to a car.

This transforms the game's existing "wrecking ball" dynamic - where you attach something to the underside of a helicopter and smash stuff - into something the Prince of all Cosmos would be proud of.

Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 DLC Brings Inventive New Ways To Cause Explosions Want some parachute thrusters? How about a half-shotgun, half rocket launcher? All this and more is coming in two sets of Black Market downloadable content for Just Cause 2.

As if there weren't enough ways to cause havoc in Just Cause 2, Square Enix has tapped the black market to bring even more power to the players. The Black Market downloadable content is divided into two sets. First up we have the Black Market Aerial Pack, due out on April 29, which features the F-33 Dragon jet fighter, a multi-lock missile launcher, and parachute dual thrusters, which effectively turn Rico's parachute into a mobile aerial battle platform.

The on May 25 players can pick up the Black Market Boom Pack, which includes the quad rocket launcher, which combines a shotgun and a rocket launcher, a cluster bomb launcher, and the experimental air propulsion gun, powerful enough to launch enemy vehicles into the sky.

The packs will run 160 Microsoft points or $1.99 apiece, depending on your platform. Is a missile launcher/shotgun combo worth $2 to you?

Just Cause 2

While we never reviewed it, know that I played a lot of Just Cause 2, and I loved it. The only thing that would have made it better was some multiplayer, and, hey, what do you know. Look at this.

Similar to mods for the Grand Theft Auto games on PC, some guys are working to bring multiplayer to Square Enix's singleplayer-only island adventure. At the moment it's early days, the clip above showing only a couple of players in a race, but just think of the possibilities if they ever get this thing working: grapple hook fights.

The game is crazy enough with what it lets you do with that thing. What could happen with multiple grappling hooks loose in the game world?

Good times, that's what.
