Shardbound: Forge Your Path, Master Your Strategy - tom.anderson
Cards & Gameplay Changes:.
  • The next Trial of Champions leaderboard event will begin soon and will run for 30 days, starting on April 16th. Climb the ranks and prove your strength: the top players will earn exclusive rewards, including the Legendary Penumbran Assassin and another chance at earning the special alternate 2D art version of the Epic Shockblade Smuggler. More details to come!
    • When the next Trial of Champions starts there will be a new gacha tab called Gravebinder Recruit. In this store offer you will be able to earn a brand new legendary card. This gacha tab has a 7.5% chance at pulling a legendary card but if you pull a legendary card there will be a 33.3% chance that it is Gravebinder. Following the end of the next Trial of Champions, the Gravebinder will soon be added to the regular loot pool.
    • The Veil Devourer and Combat Medic will be added to the regular loot pool later this month at the standard Legendary drop rate, making both available to all players.
  • In this update we are implementing the “two of a kind” upgrade recipe change. Moving forward upgrading a card will always require one duplicate of the same card at the same level. We will monitor this change closely and will make changes based on feedback.
  • We have removed the faction battle passes and you are now able to earn all of the different factions via the guide quest system. This change was made to make earning the different factions more engaging.
  • The Daily Login tab has been removed
    • We have spread out the value from the total calendar into shards rewarded from the Daily Battle Pass Quests.
    • You should now be earning more shards from completing your daily quests.
  • Victory Points will now always collect before units with Minions act

Cards & Gameplay Changes
  • The first Trial of Champions launches and the start of Season 2
    • A new Trial of Champions leaderboard is live for 30 days starting at 3 PM PDT and ending on April 10th at 3 PM PDT. Players who rank in the top 7 will earn exclusive rewards, including the Legendary Combat Medic and an alternate 2D card art version of Epic Shockblade Smuggler.
    • To level the playing field, all players will be reset to 0 valor in Season 2 as the Trial of Champions will be ranked on Valor.
    • While we would prefer to do a partial valor reset to preserve some of your progress in previous seasons and to protect new players from veterans, a full reset was simpler and we didn’t want to delay the event any more.
    • Matchmaking is now done by Valor instead of by Deck power.
    • A new Legendary card, Veil Devourer, is available with increased drop rates for a limited time in the Veiled Recruit store tab. All pulls from this pool are Rare or better, when you pull a legendary card from this pool, you have a ~23% chance that it will be a Veil Devourer.
    • Loot pool changes after Trial of Champions ends:
      • April 10th: Veil Devourer joins the regular loot pool at the standard Legendary drop rate.
      • April 24th: Combat Medic joins the loot pool at the standard Legendary drop rate, making it available to all players.
  • Many cards have had wording and functionality updated - references to Graveyard, Exile, and Territory have been removed

  • Ranged units in general had their attack reduced because they benefit more than melee units by having Thief
  • In-game speed increased to 1.1x.
  • Modified VP Crystal Spawning so crystals appear on turns 4/8/12/15/18/21
    • Where player 2’s first turn is turn 2.

Card-Specific Changes
  • Banner of Conquest

      • Pulling a standard card cost reduced from 125 chroma to 40 chroma.
      • Increased drop rate of legendary/epic cards
    • Combination of ~3x more cards and increased drop rate of rarer cards means for a similar level of spend/engagement, you’ll see:
      • ~12x increase in epic cards
      • ~18x increase in legendary cards
    • Upgrading cards is cheaper at all levels. The reduction in cost is greatest at lower levels.
      • IE: 1->2 is much cheaper than before, and had a greater reduction in cost than 6->7.
    • As a thank you for sticking with Shardbound:
      • Double Rewards for Purchasers: If you’ve made purchases in the past, we’ve got your back! You’ll be credited with 2x the value of your previous purchases as a thank-you for your support.
      • In addition, a thank you package is available to all existing users to claim via the in-game news section.
    • Substantially increased the number of card pulls acquired per day through quest completion.
    • Royal Mark cost reduced on cards in store:
      • Common 1250 -> 400
      • Rare 5,000 -> 2,750
      • Epic 50,000 -> 8,500
    • Changed rewards for quests to better match how difficult that quest is to complete.
    • Simplified how shards work: 1 Shard = 1 pull from the corresponding loot pool.
    • Elemental Shards: 1 pull from any faction’s loot pool. Flexibility at its finest!
    • Standard Shards: 1 pull from the standard loot pool.
    • Radiant Shards: 1 pull from the premium loot pool for the best rewards.
    • Faction Coins: 1 pull from the loot pool that corresponds with that faction.
      • (Example: Steelsinger Coins let you pull from the red loot pool—perfect for honing your faction strategy!)
    • Currency Conversion: Don’t worry—your existing currencies will automatically adjust to match these new systems.
