I'm Denis, making this game alone in my apartment.

I've played most interactive fiction games. Now I'm making my own.

About the Game

Good Children Say Grace is a psychological horror game set in fictional Soviet Russia during the 1980s.

Think Stanley Parable if everyone was starving.

Or Mouthwashing if it was about family dysfunction instead of space capitalism.

First-person exploration mixed with 2.5D sections and cinematics. It flows together somehow.

Probably.

Inspired by: The Summer Hikaru Died, The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, Oyasumi Punpun, Mindhunter.

The Setup

You play as Martin. Poor childhood. Abusive mother.

He sees himself as a lemur. Literally.

Martin's about to snap and kill someone. But his parents drop a bomb on him and adopt a war orphan named Amelia.

The plan:

1. Sacrifice her to the island deity instead of Martin

2. Collect the life insurance money (forbidden by the priest)

3. Keep Martin alive to work and pay them back

However, the island gets blockaded. Someone wants the entire population to starve to death.

How Choices Work

Where you go, what you say, what you touch - it all meaningfully changes the story.

The game is expected to be played multiple times by accessing different paths, and seeing how they impact the common route.

Most systems are already done! At this point, I'm just creating content...

Development Timeline

  • Alpha build: August 2025

  • Steam Demo: September 2025

  • Episode 1 (Early Access): October 2025

  • Episodes 2-5: Throughout 2026-2027

Community feedback will determine what needs fixing. Or what needs to be burned down and rebuilt.

I'm making this with occasional help from people much more successful than me. They know who they are.

Hi everyone! Thank you all for supporting Tomomon so far. I'm Gia, and I'm responsible for everything in Tomomon. For a long time, I’ve been a pretty low-key guy. I don’t usually enjoy talking about myself or what I’m working on—mostly because I just don’t have the time. I’ve been soloing about 80% of the game development, so yeah… over the past seven years, I’ve barely had time to make any devlogs, even though I’ve really wanted to. However, I will start to write my devlog from now on so people can follow what I'm working on.

With version 1.0 of the game now complete, I finally have more time to share the vision behind it. I truly want people to see what I’ve been building and to support this journey. These past few months, I’ve had to do some outside work to keep the project going. But now, I’ve got a few months free to focus fully on Tomomon updates. I’m super excited to share what I’ve been working on, and what’s coming next in the updates. So, here we go!

✨~ About Upcoming Updates

🐲 New Monsters:

Of course—that’s what brought us all here, right? We all love collecting and taming monsters, so working on new ones is always the most exciting part, isn’t it? Here are the some of new monster designs:

Jiangoo - was born from sacred springwater said to hold the wisdom of ancient generals. Despite its bouncy, harmless form, the helmet it wears glows with radiant light, allowing it to command other slimes in battle. It shines brightest when protecting weaker Tomomon.

Skulmaw - hides beneath a skull helmet, with a cursed tomahawk embedded in its head. It’s said to be formed from the regret of fallen warriors. The green glow of its axe pulses when danger is near. Trainers report it vanishes into shadows when not watched directly.

Yanbeng - leads with honor and burns with pride. Its crimson armor is forged in sacred fire and can withstand volcanic heat. In battle, it channels ancient war cries to rally allies and intimidate foes. Its burning mane glows brighter when defending the weak.

Dragmour - forges its armor from the bones of ancient dragons, binding their spirits to its will. Its skull-plated wings emit an eerie hum when it flies at night. Legends say it guards the boundary between life and death, attacking those who disturb the resting place of fallen dragons.

...and many more are coming along as well.

Personally, I really love Dragmour. Since I'm a huge fan of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, I think people can guess where his design inspiration comes from 😂

🗺️ New Areas:

On the next updates, I will focus on expand the map to the sea area and the island at the bottom left corner of the world map. So yeah, many more Water Tomomons are coming too~

🎮 More MiniGames:

I’ve always had a deep love for the vibe of retro arcade stores from the '90s. The colorful lights, the sound of pixelated games, the clinking of tokens, and that pure sense of excitement and discovery. It all stuck with me so that's why I want to bring that feeling into the arcade store of Tomomon. I will work on 1 or 2 more new minigames to make the arcade become more interesting spot for players to stop by.

🌠 The Others:

New Mechanic :

I'm also researching a new mini-mechanic within Tomomon's gameplay — something similar to a Mystery Dungeon mode, but it will be a Dungeon Raid system where players overcome challenges and earn valuable items, gear, and special Tomomons.

Refated Contents :

To support former players who have already finished the game multiple times, I’ll be adding more end-game refated content such as:

  • Exclusive Areas

  • Exclusive Refated Chests

  • Exclusive Items and Gears

  • Exclusive Refated Skills.

🎶 Conclusion:

Creating a game like Tomomon has been a true labor of love for me. Every pixel, every mechanic, and every monster design is a reflection of my passion for the genre and the joy I felt growing up with games like Pokémon. I’ve poured years of dedication, creativity, and heart into this project, not just to make a game, but to craft an experience that players can genuinely connect with and remember.

I sincerely hope you’ll continue to support the game, my team, and myself. At the heart of it all, our shared goal is to make our journey as meaningful and enjoyable as possible. I’m fully committed to giving my absolute best to Tomomon, and I look forward to having you with us every step of the way.

Ship It!: A Warehouse Game - The Space Bro

As of writing this I am almost at my first milestone of 100 Wishlists. That alone is the reason why I want to keep going. It might be only 100 to some... but it might as well be 1,000,000.

Upcoming Changes:

I have gotten the game into a third person game, and have changed the environment to match.
I have added several things including the vending machine.
A hard and easy mode dependent on what the player prefers.

The Hard mode, physics are in play, and the player will need to carefully move the crates around the warehouse.
In Easy Mode, the player is guided on how and when to pick up the crate, and will be more 'Player' Friendly compared to battling physics.

Once the modes are in place I will start working on getting the game loop back to playable state.

Kickstarter, (as I need money to continue working on this full time.)
