Redout: Enhanced Edition - AstemioDaBirra
The "VR IS BACK!" Update

General
  • Added launch option to run the game with either DirectX11 or DirectX12. We aren’t great at math, but assumed 12 was better than 11.
  • Fixed frame rate dependency during wall grinding. You can now consistently grate your face there.
  • Reduced frame rate dependency on wall bouncing.
  • Frame rate limit is now correctly applied on game start.
  • Adjusted field of view on third person camera modes to match its original value.
  • Ghost barriers are no joke! We made sure one of them on Floating Falls was alive and kicking.
  • Fixed issues with DLCs being sometimes not recognized.
  • Crashing ship on a boss portal frame no longer teleports the ship ahead on the track.
  • Added more friends to the credits.

Multiplayer
  • Fixed multiplayer crash for clients when a host quits from the race while clients are viewing their race time.
  • Players no longer get dragged into post-race track cameras right after the host has finished the race.
  • Fixed an issue with hosts not being able to change gamemode after failing to join a lobby via matchmaking.

Leaderboards
  • Cleaned up leaderboards from nasty cheaters.

UI
  • Restart option in the pause menu is no longer enlarged after the first restart. We swear we didn’t click any suspicious ads!
  • After a restart, the selected row in options in the pause menu wasn’t properly highlighted. Painted it yellow. Yellow is nice.
  • Fullscreen mode couldn’t have been applied from options in the pause menu. Now it can.

Visuals
  • Fixed portal particles being weirdly truncated.
  • Silosed silos on Cairo - Calima. Now it’s siloser. Silos are nice.
  • Reduced opaqueness of some track pieces on Europa. Transparency is less nice.
  • Removed strange orange light flickering on the ship on almost every part of Neptune tracks. Orange is really not nice.
  • Turned the lights on on P-AR219. Party time’s over!
  • Lightened up pitch-black underground areas in Rotorua. Or, you now have night vision. We don’t know exactly.
  • On some parts of the outside sections of Rotorua, sunlight was very dim. Removed local solar eclipse. Enjoy sunbathing, don’t forget the sunscreen.

VR
  • Enabled again!
  • Ported VR accessibility for Oculus Rift to the newest version.
  • Fixed a glitched background that was occasionally displayed during loading screens.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the host to be unable to move during online multiplayer.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the lobby menu to disappear after an online race.

Known Issues
  • Credits scroll down in non-constant speed.
  • When playing on VR, UI elements related to opponents can be displayed twice on screen

General
  • Improved Epic Games account linking feature. You can now manage it in the game options.
(Note: switching versions from legacy VR Edition [vredition branch] to current update on Steam disables the link. To restore it, link the account again).
  • Fixed rare game crashes.

UI
  • External ship HUD is now restored correctly on retrying or restarting events after being eliminated.
  • Re-introduced host and player count in main menu on Steam and host count only on Epic Games.
  • You can no longer enter online menu while being offline.
  • Position tracker on SRRL ships sometimes could’ve gone haywire after crashing on portal rims. Not anymore.
  • Fixed minor issues with options in the pause menu.

Visuals
  • Fixed boss portals appearing as a black, endless void. Now you can see through them.
  • Fixed some track surface textures on Abruzzo.
  • Improved fog behavior on Europa. Now it’s foggier!
  • Fixed disappearing sky on PArty Rock-219’s moon. SRRL swears it’s not a hologram.
  • Improved lighting on Rotorua.
  • Minor lighting improvements on all other environments.

Redout: Space Assault page has been updated with our new pre-alpha gameplay video and a few screenshots of the current stage of the project. There’s still a lot to do and listening to your feedback about the multiplayer focus has been of great help for us.

Space Assault has now a lot more content on the single-player campaign and the arcade feel of the game greatly improved in the last couple of months. You can watch the video on its Steam page or on our Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTca9fM95vU

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!
The Supreme Leader was downhearted with the reception of its propaganda. After eating an unhealthy dose of chocolate, he called for a Great Warfare Maneuver to shake things up. After many fervent weeks of work, we are now ready to present the New Great Plan for conquering Mars! Of course, we will need to re-establish communications with our Explorers first...

NEW DEFENSIVE STRUCTURE: BARRICADE
To stop aliens from chewing on your defences, you’ve got to… give them something else to chew on first! These Titanium barricades with an integrated Energy Field can withstand terrifying amounts of punishment, allowing your turrets do their job.

NEW DEFENSIVE STRUCTURE: MORTAR TURRET
Get rid of those pesky swarms from a distance! The Mortar Turret drops shells dealing AoE damage. Its long range also allows to counter aliens shooting from afar. A must-have gadget for every interplanetary army!

NEW DEFENSIVE STRUCTURE: STUN TURRET
When it comes to hand-to-hand combat, every second counts. This revolutionary installation fires a strong audiovisual shockwave that overloads alien senses, dealing moderate area damage but especially stunning them for a few precious moments.

UPGRADEABLE DEFENSIVE STRUCTURES
A new Structures Upgrade System allows you to spend your Resources to strengthen your Turrets individually, up to level 10! From today, we won’t depend on crate-box supplies only!

NEW ALIEN: BOMBER
These strange, short creatures look like they just left Thanksgiving dinner. Problem is, they are basically mobile buckets of explosive chemicals. And, they run like stink!

NEW ALIEN: SNIPER
An extremely dangerous specimen shooting extremely long-range bullets with precision. Good Mortars can take care of them: otherwise, our Explorers will need to take them on personally!

NEW ALIEN: JETPACK GRUNT
These obnoxious creatures can drop anywhere on the battlefield. Usually, they tend to drop behind our defence lines. This is most unfortunate, especially because they are aggressive and tough!

NEW CAMPAIGN: LIBERATION. BIGGER AND BADDER!
There is a strange… mutation going on: we identified 4 new alien evolutions, considerably stronger and faster than the previous one. This new 9-missions Campaign will take you to the deep recesses of the Red Planet, to find out what is the source of this formidable threat. We will need every bit of our new military technology to survive the Infection!

NEW GAME MODE: HARDCORE
In case you need an even harder challenge, both the Conqvest and Liberation campaign can be played at Hardcore difficulty.

NEW RESOURCES MANAGEMENT: INFINITE CRYSTALS
Thanks to a more efficient extraction process, Crystal pools can be mined for longer. Also, once a pool is depleted, it will continue to grant bits and pieces of Crystals indefinitely: the income will be much lower, but this will grant more time to transfer your base to a more Hawaiian location.
We also found out that Aliens love Crystals as snacks, so they always carry some. Meaning, we get free Resources for each Alien we KO!

UPGRADE CRATE BOXES
They can now be researched on the spot. Just make sure a Research Center is up and running, find a Crate and pick it up. It will be automatically transferred to your base and applied!

BOOST-TURN
We realigned and optimized propellers, so Explorers can now turn while Boosting. Exploring Mars is a breeze! Wheeeeeee!

SCOUT BEAN SHIELDS OVERHAUL
Bean’s Shield is no longer damaged by alien projectiles. Bean can also bash enemies by boosting onto them while Shields are up. Show off your skills!

UI REVIEW
The last placed structure is automatically selected on reopening the Build Menu, making it faster to build a line of defence..
A better alignment between crosshair and bullets makes shooting smoother.
Enemy Health UI is now visible (can be turned off).
Remaining wave duration time is now displayed.
Minimap review: it now displays only Crate Boxes in proximity.

AI REVIEW
Companion automatically tries to reach an O2 tank when oxygen is low.
Companion always comes when called (removed minimum radius for the Follow command).

GAME CONTENT REVIEW
Reviewed classic campaign structure, duration and goals to adapt for new content.
Reviewed and recalibrated Endless mode difficulty to adapt for new content.

THANKS FOR THE ATTENTION!
If you are *still* reading, phew! That was a lot to cover. We have read some legitimate, constructive criticism after launching the game and worked hard to give you a deeper experience, more content, more strategic variety and challenges.
There is much more we would have loved to do (but couldn't, due to time constraints) but for now do let us know what you appreciate, what still needs work, and what you'd love to see in the game.
Mars, or Die!

Redout WeirdBugsBegone™ Edition: Minor Fixes and leaderboards reset

IMPORTANT: INCOMING LEADERBOARDS RESET!
As you known, Redout has been evolving and changing quite a lot since our initial release. Meta balancing, bugfixes, huge changes in the physics system imply a huge load of testing to make sure everything runs smoothly and fairly for everyone. We have been working as much as possible to keep things in balance so far, but some of the biggest changes had a more sensible impact over the balancing of the game. We are letting you prepare for a massive leaderboards reset event happening with the next update, which, as you know by now, will happen Soon™.

PORTALS OPTIMISATIONS
We know the portals have been one of the features in Redout interesting enough to even create a novel game mode to show them off: the Boss Mode. At the same time, they have been one of our biggest challenges in terms of optimisations. Your CPUs and GPUs should be happy to know we are using their resources in a new way: less intensive, leaner, without touching the visual fidelity.

BUGFIXING
  • Fixed issue for which the AP effect would disappear if dying with EMG on.
  • Fixed explosion when flying over a portal in Neptune.
  • Fixed weird trajectory deviation that would rarely happen when passing a portal flying.
  • Fixed some LOD switching in Cairo and Neptune.
  • Fixed a botched normal on Conqueror Class4 engine.
  • Fixed a sloppy Traditional Chinese string translation (Thanks Kannushi Link!).
  • HDR turned off when starting the game in VR.
  • Double-checked and enforced anonymization in our analytics and leaderboard system, in compliance with GDPR. Sorry Blu.

Redout 2018-7™ Edition: Lots of fixes, new colors, FoveVR support

NEW FEATURES && IMPORTANT UPDATES
  • 6 new ship color schemes for all your ships (Neo, Cipher, Braid, Deception, Entropy, Paradox).
  • Added support to FoveVR.

GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS
  • New Traditional Chinese Translation, our friends from Taiwan and China will be happy for this! Just in time for the holidays!
  • Many fixes and improvements for VR support.
  • In some occasions the new guardrails would generate artifacts, no more.
  • The opponent indicators were using *a lot* of your PC resources, probably to mine something. Now they understood life is more than greed and hording.

BUGFIXING
  • Ninja ships were slowing taking over your garage. Ninja ships are extremely dangerous and must be removed at first sight. We deployed Samurai ships to defend your garages and top notch security has been guaranteed by the SRRL.
  • You can finally read the lore behind Rotorua and Sequoia environments.
  • Some UI components were left on screen when the race ended. Fixed.
  • Rotorua gravity anomalies did interfere with the SRRL lap counters under specific conditions. Lap counters are now completely shielded from radioactive and gravitational anomalies.
  • Fixed infamous "Glowing Caves Survival" Event.
  • A weird bug could block your game in the pause menu during a race. It's fixed now.
  • An invisible boostpad on Neptune has been restored to his original form. Ninja boost pads are less dangerous than ninja ships, but the improved security should help most situations anyway.
