I'm extremely excited to share that the sequel to Phantom Rose, titled Phantom Rose 2 Sapphire, has officially released on Steam. I wanted to extend my gratitude to everyone who has supported Phantom Rose, as Phantom Rose 2 wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of you.

As announced back in February, Phantom Rose 2 introduces our new protagonist Aria, as well as a whole host of new and interesting characters and mechanics.

Hello, this is makaroll, the dev and artist of Phantom Rose. Today I’d like to present the version 2.0 update that I’ve been working on called “Scarlet”, which brings new game mode, content, and changes to the PC version. I hope you like it. NEW
Scarlet game mode


With the 2.0 update, existing game mode will be called “Classic” and a new game mode called “Scarlet” will become the new standard way to play. Progress is tracked separately, and players will be able to swap between the two via settings. Think of it as a free expansion DLC.

About Scarlet
Brand New Gameplay



Scarlet’s new gameplay is based on cooldowns. There’s no card loss and there’s no luck-based card draw during battle. All cards you gain through your adventure are accessible during battle and you must defeat your foe by managing the cooldown of each card. If you’re an existing player of the game, please go through the initial tutorial as the gameplay is significantly different!

New Cards, new skins



There are over 100+ cards in Scarlet, with new buffs and debuffs to try. Cards that you’re familiar with in Classic Phantom Rose likely has a fresh new update that I hope you enjoy. There are also new skin types called banner and weapon skins that you can unlock by playing the game

New Challenges



Scarlet’s adventure has new trial options and challenges. Familiar modes like Risky and Crown Trial is also updated with new content and challenges in addition to a Custom Game mode that you can build and try challenge of your own.

Q&A



How do I switch between classic and scarlet?
- There’s a button in settings menu where you can switch between two modes

Is there a restriction in switching between two modes?
- You can swap between modes at any time

Is my existing progress in Classic transferrable to Scarlet?
- No, progress is tracked separately and save file cannot be shared

Are Diamonds in Scarlet a currency I can buy?
- No, Diamonds cannot be bought. They can only be earned by playing the game

Is progress sharable between PC version and mobile version of Scarlet?
- Unfortunately, progress between different platforms cannot be shared as there’s no global account system

Are there any story differences between Classic and Scarlet?
- There are no story differences but Scarlet has more story content that I hope you enjoy

  • Fixed issue of game freezing when a blessed chain strike is placed as the last card on field

  • Fixed rare issue of adventure not properly starting in macOS
