PHAGEBORN: Online Card Game - StephFG
Dear Denizens of Issilith,
It's with a heavy heart that we confirm the closure of PHAGEBORN: Online Card Game. We truly believe we had brought something special to the tactical card game genre with the use of Avatars and lanes (and the planned introduction of 2x2), but sadly we ran out of runway. We're immensely grateful to all players for their support and for enjoying the game with us.
Thank you for being a part of our journey.

The battlefield trembled beneath the clash of steel. Reina, a figure of resolute authority, stood at the forefront of the Drakkorith forces, her armour gleaming with the reflections of the tumultuous conflict. As enemy forces surged forward, Reina’s blade was unsheathed with a swift, practised motion. Each step she took seemed to resonate with a deadly intent. Her eyes, sharp and unwavering, scanned the approaching adversaries as she positioned herself with strategic precision.
The first opponent lunged at her with a savage strike, but Reina's blades intercepted the attack with finesse. Her blade moved like extensions of her will, intercepting foes with a dance of calculated strikes. She moved with a blend of grace and ferocity, a reflection of her years as a skilled bounty hunter and now, a seasoned military general. The battlefield became a canvas of swirling energies, a precursor to the whirlwind of combat that ensued.

In the midst of the chaos, Reina's leadership was unwavering. She directed her troops with authoritative commands, blending her strategic acumen with lethal prowess. But beneath her formidable exterior, Reina bore a hidden burden - a power both dark and forbidden, remaining from her years as a bounty hunter. Reina’s curse, an enduring artefact of the Sangronach’s power, was a double-edged sword, bestowing a strength while demanding a price. Every hit resonated with an unseen force, fueling her strikes. The bloodthirsty urges that gripped her were the price she paid for her power, a constant reminder of the delicate balance she maintained.

In a strategic move to protect her hidden truth, Reina made a decisive move. Entering the ranks of the Drakkorith military, she immersed herself in the heart of conflict. Amidst the tumult and fervour of warfare on the front lines, she discovered an ideal cloak for her shadowed secret; keeping the curse sated without raising suspicion. To reveal her power would be to invite certain doom. Thus, she concealed her abilities, maintaining a discreet facade even before those she trusted the most.

The clash reached its zenith, and as the dust settled, Reina stood amidst the defeated forces, her blade now sheathed. The aftermath resonated with an eerie reminder of the clandestine power that empowered Reina's unwavering influence on the battlefield, shrouded in secrecy.

Shangrilla, a Duran of imposing stature from a proud mountain tribe, defied the swift and graceful norms of martial arts. Unlike his peers, he didn't rely on armour, leveraging his natural durability. In his youth, he gained little recognition, lacking the agility that traditional fighters prized. However, as time marched on, Shangrilla embraced his unique strengths and developed a distinctive combat style.

His approach was deliberate and methodical, a stark departure from the flashy displays commonly seen in tournaments. Shangrilla would absorb his opponents' attacks, wearing them down until they succumbed to the steady rhythm of his assault. His fighting style drew attention, first in competitions and then on the battlefield, where the efficacy of his methods became undeniable.

Shangrilla often likened his fighting philosophy to the gradual accumulation of a snowflake into an unstoppable avalanche or the persistent waves that shape cliffs over time. While not initially inclined to teach, he found unexpected interest in his methods. The Teaching of Shangrilla focused not just on combat but on endurance, a quality deeply appreciated by fellow Durans, a race known for its deliberate pace.

His mountain village eventually transformed into a training ground for aspiring fighters. Beyond combat, Shangrilla's students engaged in gruelling endurance exercises, especially during harsh winter blizzards. Yet, the community wasn't just about honing physical prowess. Students also actively contributed to the welfare of the locals, emphasising a balance between strength and compassion.

Shangrilla's legacy extended beyond combat arenas, becoming a symbol of resilience, individuality, and a harmonious blend of strength and community spirit.

In the secluded mountain monasteries, initiates engage in the rigorous pursuit of the Teachings of the Tey and Yul, honing their minds and bodies under the watchful guidance of strict yet wise monks. This demanding process, testing both physical prowess and mental resilience, often leads many to surrender. However, for those who persevere, the journey is far from over. Following monastery training comes The Path.

Initiates embark on a solitary journey through the untamed wilderness until they receive a revelatory vision, unveiling profound meaning and purpose in their lives and training. The Path is a dual trial, both physical and spiritual, offering initiates a chance to comprehend the world beyond the monastery and apply the sacred Teachings.

During this pilgrimage, initiates frequently lend aid to isolated communities. Devotees of Yul, the Moon, become defenders, safeguarding villages and caravans from bandits and warlords. On the other hand, adherents of Tey, the Stars, gravitate toward hunting monstrous entities plaguing the fringes of civilization. Such was the origin of Mao Wei, also known as the Wings of Salvation, who gained fame by aiding a settlement tormented by raging spirits.

Yet, not every initiate reaches the culmination. Some yield to the world's allure, forsaking their training, while others misemploy their powers in a misguided pursuit of blind retribution. Those who successfully traverse The Path emerge as full-fledged monks, empowered to choose the course of their service—whether as warriors, monster hunters, or new mentors shaping the next generation of initiates. Their journey stands as a testament to the unwavering resilience needed to balance the sanctity of the Teachings with the challenges of the world beyond the monastery walls.
