As you can see, they've grown, and in Crypterion they take their skills and abilities with them. You will have a unique opportunity to visit with them and 20 other unique characters. You take the role as captain of your own starship and company. Characters will interact and talk with you as you create your story.

Omni Link is "Roencia Games" first project. Because of you, I was able to create a manga of a portion of the game. I incorporated some of the manga images into the game to enhance the games story enjoyment.

Many of you have asked for a CD of Omni Link's amazing music. I tried, but I could not secure a license to offer you a complete soundtrack. I was able to produce the two main songs as a collectors item. At the end of this post, I explain how you can get them.



These CD's were part of my crowdfunding project last year.


Omni Link Engine Change:
I love the story of Omni Link. (thank you for the many positive reviews), but I always felt the game-play could use a boost. As part of my road map (Omni Link is undergoing an engine change from Game Maker 1 ---> 2), I will overhaul the arcade shooter mechanics.

Call to action:
In the meantime, in order to make money for this endeavor, I am finishing up Crypterion. I am a lone developer and my resources are limited.

I know you just want to play a great game. I'm the same way. So I created Crypterion first and foremost as the game I wanted to play. It's a great story like you'd find in Omni Link.

Crypterion: A great story is worth living

Crypterion builds off a classic nostalgic game I love and mixes it with "You" as the main protagonist. Omni Link has a great story, but I wanted to create a game that makes the story a distinctive adventure for each player.

Crypterion is a nostalgic re-imagining of the classic business simulation game Gazillionaire. At it's core, It's a Business Sim / Tycoon. It has a story with the depth of a visual novel filled with many interesting characters and character development. Meet a variety of alien inhabitants from different worlds and amass a fortune. Every time you play, it's different.

But what is a game about acquiring mass riches if you don't have a way to spend it? Spend your riches on items in game including: new ships, gifts for companions, technology, trade permits, concept art, and even planets.

Omni Link engine change & development

I'd like to update you on the state of Omni Link. Omni Link is built in the Game Maker Studio engine. While fixing memory leaks and patching, YoYo Games was in the process of discontinuing "Game Maker Studio 1". They did one final large patch to GM1 and when I installed that it broke my game. I reverted back to a previous version and continued working.

Then one day I got on and the engine was broke again, with a windows update. Tired of this, I decided to port Omni Link into the GM2 Engine. The new engine is much more capable and supports newer direct X versions. This also gave me the idea that I could make a Steam Enhanced version of the game for free to owners of Omni Link.

Longer development time means a change of plans. This is my current development roadmap:

- Launch Crypterion
- Finish Omni Link GM2 engine port
- Steam Enhanced version of Omni Link (free to owners)
- Work on Omni Link 2?

Crypterion plays a big part for what's possible moving forward. That's why I've poured great effort into making a very unique and fun experience. I hope you will enjoy it!

For Those That Are New

Omni link is a visual novel and a top-down shooter hybrid. The gameplay features "Real-time tactical combat" - Defeat ships and absorb them into your fleet. Influenced by games such as Escape Velocity Nova and Star Control 3.

Dialogue and gameplay choices make every decision you make carry weight. Some are not fully apparent till later and it's too late to change course.

Hand drawn art & epic music - Beautiful art and music accompany your journey. Feel the emotion through epic battle moments and emotions that comes from characters as you take part in the story.

Manga adaption - Experience key scenes as if you're reading a manga.

PLEASE DON'T POST MAJOR SPOILERS

It's easy to screen capture important scenes and the art is fantastic so I don't blame you. However, there is a heavy spoiler background in particular that I will remove if I see it posted > from chapter 4. You'll know what it is when you see it.

For those that helped with bug testing and ship ideas, watch carefully at the end of the game :)

When I played through the entire story the other day and the credits rolled. I was really moved with emotions. The ending is truly epic to the tale I've been building the last two years and I can't wait tell you all experience it. The last chapter is truly the best of them all.

I'm happy to announce that Omni Link is complete and will be released September 4th. They often call a game when finished "Gold". My game at the moment is "Gold plated". I only need till Sep. 4th to iron out the last few things.

I've always wanted Omni Link is be a story you experience more than you read. I can safely say, that it's become like that for me.

The game is almost finished! I'm waiting for game release to update the build. Here is a list of recent fixes and additions focusing on major changes only:

Additions:
  • Changed & added backgrounds in key areas.
  • New dialogue bar and mission graphics
  • Enhancements to choices:
    - Wording popup now appears showing you if the character liked your choice.
    - Reputations with characters branch dialogue and gameplay in key scenes.
  • Bounty system fully implemented:
  • New HUD icon underneath money/credits icon
    - Characters talk about your bounty and it will affect gameplay elements
    - Currently only relationship with Zoas and attacking neutral ships affects bounty.
  • Manga panels added to Prologue
  • Manga panels added to Dawn fight
  • Main menu finished
  • Ending Credits added
  • Added two new songs and swapped one
  • Suzumi's brother now has a face
  • Added “Graphic Buttons” when making unique choices or interacting with objects
  • Alias and other names picked at different times (other than at game start)
  • Added more “one-chance-to-get-it-right” choices
  • Two new character outfits added for Dawn & Arcadia
  • Various lines of voice acting added to important scene
  • Universe littered with more things to do and explore
Fixes:
  • Darkstar now flees when you allow escape, not stopping game progress
  • Can now access pirate base if allied with Celine
  • Scene transitions, balancing, character positions

Still left to do:
  • Bigger exploration maps for Suzumi missions
  • “Relationship not high enough” events
  • Mission tracker & information for new quests

  • Editing (on-going)
Most of these changes are off the top of my head. I don't usually keep track of fixes as I work. I'm really liking the quality-of-life improvements made in the last weeks.

It's summer time!

In a previous progress update, I mentioned the release date is getting close when I start to implement your ideas for ship designs. https://steamcommunity.com/app/529100/discussions/0/224446614459439411/

I'm doing that now! So post your ideas if you want a chance of getting in. You will be in the credits of my game if I pick your ship idea.

I also want to share that the game is playable from beginning to end in my internal build. The stage I am at is play testing, polishing, side missions, and editing. The wait is almost over.

Release Date:

I originally wanted to release my game this month, but Steam likes to have sales in the summer. Instead, I decided that it would be best to release my game and launch discount 30 days after the next Steam sale which is usually mandatory for spacing out sales on Steam. Because you've been so patient waiting for release, the next Steam sale is going to have a better discount than the traditional game launch discount and a little higher than I would normally put.

EDIT: I want to release the game next month if possible

The extra time will also be used to finish the things I haven't been thinking of. Game Achievements & Steam Trading Cards so it works out better this way.

An Epic Adventure that You are Apart of:

I think you will be very pleased with how the story plays out. It's completely epic, and very unexpected. You will notice most of the Fantastic Artwork was saved for near the end.

I tried to make each character enduring so choices will be hard... including that of romance. I originally wanted only one save file so choices would be permanent. These choices make it so you can really feel like you are the protagonist of the story.

I also tried to make rewarding choices. The gameplay may be simple, but it allows for me to easily convey your choices in a way that other Visual Novels can't. But Omni Link is a visual novel first and a shooter game second. There is a ton of dialogue near the end.

On easy difficulty, you may skip gameplay elements quickly with brute strength just to enjoy the story. The hardest difficulty is meant to be unforgiving, just like the Virus is in the story. When you lose a ship, it is gone forever. You may reach the end of the game with no ships and little chance of winning. As it should be.

1) Before the games release I plan to introduce your ship ideas and side-quest ideas into the game. I think it would be fun for you to have a chance to be a part of the game in that way. *I'm hoping at least one of you will be able to design a character for the game too.

I will include these new pieces of content (your ships & side-quests) into the game, after the game is completely finished. So when I start asking for this information, you know the time is close for release.

2) If you want to support the game the most, get it during early access. All early access purchases increase the production value of the game including: new art, characters, music, and a manga for you to enjoy.
