Tree of Life 2 - Tree of Life 2_Dev
Hello, this is OddOneGames.

In this dev note, we’d like to introduce the improvements we’ve made to enhance the impact and feedback of combat.

(Ah! Not there!)

Through these updates, we aimed to deliver a better sense of weight and satisfaction when battling monsters.
The video below was recorded within the editor during development, so the frame rate may be lower, but we wanted to share the direction we’re taking with these improvements.

Improvements
• Hit Freeze Implementation
- When an enemy is hit, there’s a brief 0.1 second freeze.
- This momentary pause emphasizes the impact of the hit, making each strike feel stronger and more noticeable.

• Whitening Effect Added
•
- The struck enemy briefly flashes brighter upon being hit.
- This makes it easier to confirm whether your attack connected, and helps identify which enemy was hit in the middle of a group.

• Precise Hit Sensation
•
- To deliver a satisfying hit feeling, visual, sound, and timing must align perfectly when the player lands an attack.
- We’re continuously fine-tuning hit range, distance, and timing to perfect this aspect.

• Hit Effect Update
•
- The visual effects triggered on hit have been replaced with sharper, clearer effects.
- This upgrade improves the texture and immersion of combat moments.

• Damage Font Animation Update
•
- Before: Damage numbers floated upward.
- Now: Numbers pop out from the target’s body and fall down.
- This makes the damage numbers easier to notice and visually harmonizes better with the hit effects.

We will continue to refine combat feedback and deliver even more satisfying gameplay through ongoing improvements and player feedback.

This video is a guide to the UI, learning masteries, and using skills in Tree of Life 2.

Here are the main highlights:

Players can perform the following activities:
Gathering, hunting, crafting, building, animal husbandry, and farming.

These actions accumulate mastery experience and allow players to learn different masteries.
Each mastery grants special rewards.
• You can craft better items.
• You can equip wearable gear.
• You can unlock and use weapon skills.
• You can learn the next tier of masteries.

If a player needs an item called "A", they can:
• Learn the relevant crafting mastery to make it.
• Trade items directly with another player. Purchase the item from the marketplace, if listed by another player.

If a player wants to use a weapon called "B", they can:
• Learn the crafting mastery to make weapon B, or buy it from the marketplace.
• Learn the mastery required to equip/use weapon B. (This is mandatory.)

Tree of Life 2 does not support item trading between players and NPCs.

This video features scenes from the recent stress test.
This test was conducted as a private internal test.

A stress test is designed to evaluate how much load (traffic, data requests, etc.) a network can handle.

In particular, we focused on monitoring traffic and frame drops when a large number of people were gathered in a small area.
Fortunately, the test proceeded without any major issues, and we were able to collect a variety of valuable data!

Hello, this is OddOneGames.
Spring is here, and it's time for a big spring cleaning!

This week, we have some exciting news about houses!

First, let's talk about interior decoration.

Have you cleaned up your house? Then it's time to decorate!

Once you've gathered materials from various sources, you can either craft interior decorations yourself or purchase them from other players.
You can place and move items freely to design your indoor space just the way you like.
Additionally, a wall decoration feature has been added, allowing certain items to be placed on walls for display.

Second, building destruction is now implemented.

As some of you may know, Tree of Life 2 allows you to choose between PvP and PvE servers.
If you opt for PvP, don't assume your house will always be safe.
Powerful enemies might come and "clean up" your home as if they were bulldozing it to the ground.

Too scary? Feeling anxious? Don't worry! We have a special charm that makes your house indestructible for just $10…

Just kidding! Haha.
The video above is simply a test showcasing the feature.
In the actual game, houses won't be destroyed that easily, so there's no need to worry!

That's all for today's update. We'll be back with more exciting news next time!

We're giving you a sneak peek at the desert region in development.
There are some minor frame drops, so we appreciate your understanding.

The Desert Region is One of the Main Starting Areas.

- The desert region is one of the four main starting areas in TOL2.
- After passing through the beginner area and venturing deeper into the desert, you will find an oasis and a city.
- Beyond the city, as you get closer to the Tree of Life, the region becomes increasingly dangerous.

Regional Characteristics and Resource Distribution

- Due to dry winds and arid land, wood resources are scarce in the desert.
- However, resources that are scarce in other regions will be abundant in the desert.
- Each region has different quantities and types of gatherable resources, leading to resource imbalance between regions.

Economy and Trading System

- The differences in regional resources create price variations in trade.
- Players can either sustain themselves in the desert or become merchants, traveling between regions for trade.
- For example, purchasing wood at a low price from another region and selling it at a higher price in the desert could yield significant profits!

Hello, this is Odd One Games.

We are continuously working on features related to in-game communities.
In online games, interactions with other players are inevitable, and being able to effectively convey emotions is crucial.
Our key focus is cooperation, and we are exploring various actions that players can perform together.

1. Cooperative Building
The first feature, which we introduced in a previous update, is cooperative building.
Although it wasn’t shown in the video, building a house with other players is much faster than doing it alone.
Helping others or receiving help is one of the great joys of online gaming.

2. Cooperative Emotes
We are working on adding more expressive character animations to enhance the game’s social experience.
One of these features is cooperative emotes, which allow two players to perform an emote together.

When Player A initiates an emote, Player B can interact with them to trigger the cooperative emote.

We are currently preparing cooperative emotes such as handshakes, high-fives, and helping another player up.
If you have any ideas for cooperative emotes, let us know!

3. Cooperative Skills
Players will have access to various skills depending on their weapons.
Cooperative skills enhance player actions and effects when used together.

For example, the Jumping Mushroom skill allows players to jump high, similar to Mario-style platforming.
This skill can be used in various ways to assist other players.

• The higher you jump before landing, the more damage you deal.
• Players can use it to reach areas that would otherwise be inaccessible.
When combined with other abilities, this skill creates exciting synergy!

4. Voice-to-Text System
Many online players have experienced situations where they type too slowly, only for the other player to leave before they can finish their message.

Since fast communication is essential, we are developing a voice-to-text system to enable quick chatting.
This feature will be especially useful for players using controllers.

That's all for today! We'll be back next time with more exciting Tree of Life 2 updates!

Hello, this is Oddone Games.

We’re excited to bring you news about the latest construction system upgrade!

Construction System Improvement

The process of constructing building frameworks has been implemented!

Previously, each module had to be fully built in one step, requiring all necessary materials upfront. This often led to significant losses if mistakes were made during construction.

With this Improvement, the construction system has become more efficient and detailed.

Changes & Improvements

Build the framework first with fewer materials

You can now test different shapes and easily make adjustments before committing to the final structure.

Animated construction modules

Enjoy a more dynamic and immersive building process with fully animated construction modules.

Co-op construction support

Now you can build together with friends! The more players involved, the faster the construction process. (For example, four players can build four times faster.)

Tree of Life 2 - Tree of Life 2_Dev
Hello from OddOneGames!

We would like to take some time to talk about the Guardian Stone feature currently in development.

What is the Guardian Stone?
The Guardian Stone is a system that provides ownership within its area, unlike the "Guardian Tree" from the original Tree of Life. However, it does not offer destruction protection.

Construction Block
Usage Rights
Destruction Protection
ToL1 Guardian Tree
O
O
O
ToL2 Guardian Stone
O
O
X

How the Guardian Stone Works
1. Craft and place the Guardian Stone.
2. When activated (On), its area expands and is displayed on the world map and minimap.
3. All buildings and objects within the area become the property of the player who placed the Guardian Stone.
4. Activating it again will turn it Off.
5. Only the player who originally placed the Guardian Stone can toggle it On/Off.
6. While Off, friends or party members can register themselves (Self-service).
7. Once registered, turning it On grants registered players access to buildings and objects within the area.

Functions of the Guardian Stone
- Prevents monster spawning within the area
- Blocks unauthorized players from placing structures
- Restricts access to doors, gates, storage, etc.
- Blocks access to fields and animals

Guardian Stone Rules

- New Guardian Stones cannot be placed within an existing Guardian Stone's area.
- Players with permissions can overlap their Guardian Stone areas.
- If two Guardian Stones overlap, only objects within the permitted Guardian Stone can be accessed.
- If a Guardian Stone is destroyed or turned Off, all buildings and objects within its area lose protection and become vulnerable to raids.

The Guardian Stone plays a crucial role in protecting players' and their friends' assets.
As mentioned earlier, the Guardian Stone will not have a destruction prevention feature.
Defense will be managed through structures like walls, and all buildings will be attackable using siege weapons.
However, siege weapons won’t be easy to acquire.
(More details on **Castle Siege** will be shared in a future update.)

Developer Commentary

From Guardian Tree to Guardian Stone
The Guardian Tree in Tree of Life 1 provided strong protection but required high maintenance costs. Additionally, only one could be placed per guild, making it difficult to manage large territories.

Tree of Life 2 introduces the **Guardian Stone** system to overcome these limitations. The Guardian Stone balances defensive effects and lowers maintenance costs, allowing for larger areas to be secured. This adjustment encourages more dynamic combat and territorial battles.

Tree of Life 2 aims to create a more strategic and flexible gameplay environment. We will continue to improve the game for a better overall experience.

Hello, this is OddOne Games.

It has already been a month since our last update on development progress at the end of the year.
Our development team is working hard to ensure we can conduct user testing before winter ends. We expect to run tests around mid-to-late February.

Here’s what we’re currently working on:

- Skills for each type of player weapon
- Tier 5 dungeon
- Tier 4 field and dungeon monsters
- An instance party system, essential for fields and dungeons
- A territory system for managing houses and castles

The prison dungeon will be a Tier 5 dungeon. It will feature stronger monsters and rewards that match the increased challenge.
If you have ideas for monsters that would fit the prison dungeon, feel free to leave a comment!

This is a video of a monster battle test. The monsters will possess powerful skills, and players will face them with even stronger abilities.
Monsters will serve as a form of farming content, designed to be enjoyable without pressure. However, we’re focusing more on PvP than PvE in our development.

We’ll continue to share updates on our progress. Please stay tuned!
We wish you a Happy Lunar New Year.

Our development team regularly checks comments on our Steam Community page and Twitter, so feel free to ask any questions or share your thoughts there.
