After a month of experimentation with you, it is finally time to deliver the Community Update to all of the community. Thank you all for your participation and, if you haven't followed our most recent blog posts, have a read before hoping into the game



Major Rework


All rework has been addressed in previous blog post, if you’re interested in one topic in particular, be sure to check them!

The “power triangle” has been revamped to make multi-unit armies viable again, with shared bonuses across all unit types. Major tweaks affect all clans, including a fully reworked Legion path, a unique military path for the Clan of the Dragon, and a new southern Kingdom forge to support both mono and mixed armies.

2v2 is back in Quick and Ranked games, giving players a long-requested competitive mode in the new lobby system. A new pick system has also been added: clans are now chosen one by one in team modes (2v2 and 3v3) to improve strategy and fairness. In FFA and Duel, picks are now hidden to avoid last-second countering.

All military units from both Northern clans and Southern kingdoms have received visual upgrades, following the improvements made to Warchiefs and specialized workers. Expect higher-resolution models, new animations, and more personality in each fighter. Battles now feel more intense with improved combat effects, especially in large engagements. Feedback is welcome as we polish the final visuals!

Greeting Vikings!

After the open beta period, we are now ready to provide all the modifications we tested to all players.
Thanks again to all the players who participated in the beta, reported issues, shared their feedback, participated in the discussions, and helped us with the update!!

The main focus of this patch is around military unit and fight strategy to make all units more viable than only focusing on warriors. In this idea, this patch brings new unit abilities, forges, military path, but also some ranked change, some visual improvement, new conquest for the Clan of the Hounds, some QoL and a bunch of bug fixes.

Military changes
Trinity
The first big change for this update is to really assume the trinity of base military units.
Now in 1v1 a shield kills an axe that kills a warrior then kills a shield.
We wanted this change to push you to play more with further units instead of only focusing on only one. We don’t forget clans that play only with one kind of unit and made some changes to avoid them to be left behind.
Same for kingdom clans, they are not affected directly by this trinity change but we bring them a little change that will help them to stay on course.
Here what we changed:


Warrior
Def 5 > 4
New ability Piercing Strike: Attacks partially ignore defense if the target has higher defense
Weapon forge: Doesn’t give charge but break also the projectile resistance
Shield Bearer
Def 8 > 7
Weapon forge: Gain charge ability
Axes Thrower
Attack 11.5 > 12

Military building upgrades for vikings clan now share 50% of the stats to all other military units (except for Warchiefs, valkyrie and ghost).

Military unit cost now scale back as before, each unit increase the price of all unit by 6 krowns instead of 3 for other unit type.

Kingdom gained a new military upgrade, Armor shred: unit with it has a chance to break the defense and projectile defense of his target for 2 seconds.

Military Path
With this change, we felt that Legion will not fit well with the trinity update and the clan of the Dragon was really too much impacted. So we modified the Legion path and we created a new unique path for the clan of the Dragon.
For the Dragon, we also rework some of their start with and knowledge to work well with the new path.
Here what we’ve done:

Lvl 1 - 50 xp]
Foundations of war - Next military camps upgrade is free, and max warband generate Military Experience (10 max)
Lvl 2 - 500 xp
Shared Ration - Basic military units Food consumption is reduced by 5% for each type of basic military unit in the zone.
Lvl 3 - 1500 xp
Veterans - Increase the bonus from military building upgrades to other units by 50%
Lvl 4 - 3000xp
Valhalla calling - When on a battleground zone, units have a boost of power and attack speed of 25% (instead of 30%)

Leadership
Lvl 1 - 50 xp
Bodyguard - Warchief produce 1 Military Experience
Lvl 2 - 500 xp
Armed Wing of the Clan - Each military forge grant 5% more health to your Warchief

DRAGON

Dragon Military Path

With the rework of legion and other military change, all 3 path didn’t fit well for this clan, so here his new path with a little particularity where from lvl 2 to 4, you will have to choose between two bonuses:


  • Lvl 1 - 50xp
    • Blood and Chains - Thralls and captured units generate Military Experience (max 10)
  • Lvl 2 - 500 xp
    • Draconic Haste - Draconics units with an upgraded weapon gain 15% movement speed
      OR
    • Draconic Smithing - Whirlwind forge gain 50% more range and Battlecry ability gain 100% more range
  • Lvl 3 - 1250 xp
    • Goldforged Pact - Draconic units cost 20% less krowns
      OR
    • Infernal Pact - Draconic Nightmares doesn’t cost Dragon Essence
  • Lvl 4 - 2000 xp
    • Guardian’s Pact - Draconic Nightmares absorb 30% of the damage dealt to Dragonkin
      OR
    • Infernal Whirlwind - Whirlwind deals 80% damage
  • Lvl 5 - 3000 xp
    • Draconic Rage - Surtr enrage all other Draconic units in the zone, giving them 30% attack for 5 seconds (cost 5 Dragon Essence)
Dragon rework
  • Fame
    • Fame 200 - Each capture give fame depending on the unit captured
  • Start-with
    • Thrall production: when assigned to a building they do not increase the specialized worker production anymore, instead they produce 50% of the specialized worker production
    • Thrall formula cost: The decrease cost is now in percentage
    • Neutral thrall: Each neutral thrall give a different amount of essence once sacrificed
      • Kobold = 2
      • Dwarf/Myrkalfar = 3
      • Jotunn = 4
  • Knowledges
    • Blood, Sweat & Tears: You can’t assign one more thrall on upgraded production building, instead Thrall increase specialized worker production by 10%
    • Thrall Trade: The price of Thralls decreases 5% faster.
    • Draconic Frenzy: Once more than one unit is on a tile, the attack bonus is split by half for each unit on the same tile (once 6 units are on the same tile the attack bonus is set to 0%)
    • Draconic Rage: All draconic units on the same tile as Surt can capture enemy units.

Ranked
A lot of people were asking for some new stuff here, so welcome pick system and welcome back 2v2.
We also add blind clan selection for duel ranked and FFA only.


For 3v3 - the first team will pick 1 clan, then team 2 will pick 2 clans, then team 1 will pick 2 clans and team 2 will pick its last clan

For 2v2 - he first team will pick 1 clan, then team 2 picks 2 clans and team 1 picks its last clan.

Quality of Life
We wanted to add a little thing that could help all players to manage their civilians more easily and allow more versatility in them when choosing who is going to build or repair a building. So now, all specialized workers can directly be sent to build or repair a building without having to convert them back into villagers first! Looking at you Rat and Turtle players, enjoy this change!
We also make some little adjustment on other clan, lets check them:


Kraken
  • Ràn’s Blessing now give 20% pop growth to Spectral Warriors
  • Valkyries cost 100 krown instead of 120

Woodcutter’s Lodge
  • Stone upgrade cost is now10 -> 5

Lighthouse
  • Building cost is now 100 -> 50 except for the Clan of the Raven

Bifrost
  • Modified the UI and text from portal bonuses to make them more understandable when you can choose one of them.

Hound Conquest

With this patch we also introduce you to 3 new conquests for the Clan of the Hounds!

No Cost, No Mercy
In the battle, all military experience gains are increased and all military units are free! Yes, free Torfin too. All your army will need more food to stand, but every foes, animals, even other human kills will provide you some good rations. Meat is meat right? Right???

Berserker’s Wrath
The four spirit animals will guide you in this battle. Every few months, all Berserkers will be transformed into a specific one depending on the Animal season. All clan can only recruit Berserkers

Moonlit Betrayal
Some sneaky werewolves are hidden in your population and they will bite healthy villagers to join their ranks. Find them before all your villagers are cursed, and send them out of your territory or prepare to fight them before the moon rises!

Hey everyone!
It’s time to dive into the final major rework coming in the upcoming Community Update. We’ll also be revealing when you can expect its release!

A revamped army


In line with the recent updates to Warchiefs and specialized workers, the same visual improvements have now been applied across the board. These graphic updates affect military units from both from the Northern clans and the Southern Kingdoms.


In addition to the newly detailed units, new animations have been added to bring them to life and give more personality to these victorious fighters.


More impacting battles


If you’re in the public beta you might have noticed it already, but this update also includes new battle effects to create a real sensation of a complete brawl when enough units are involved.

2v2 is back


As many of you have long requested the return of the old ranked mode in the new lobby finder, we’ve now added the one missing that best fits the “ranked” spirit of the game.
You can now play 2v2 matches in both Quick and Ranked games!



Improvement on lobbies


As requested by many of you and to help address several issues that can arise in Ranked mode—a new pick system has been added to the experience!

New pick system for 3v3 and 2v2
In Quick and Ranked team games, players will now select their clans one after another. This change allows each team to observe their opponents’ strategy and respond accordingly, while also eliminating the issue of last-second picks.

New blind system for FFA and Duel
In line with this approach, clans selected in Ranked games will no longer be visible to the opposing team in the lobby, preventing the same last-second counter-picking issues.

What about bans?
We’ve heard your requests for a pick-and-ban system, but that’s not a direction we want to pursue. With only 6 clans available for free, introducing bans could severely limit options for many players—especially those without DLC, potentially forcing them into paywalled choices.

Free clans remain competitive, and our goal is to keep Ranked fair and accessible. A ban system could lock players out of key roles (like clear roles only available through clans such as Wolf) simply by targeting specific picks. That would go against our core vision: ensuring success is based on strategy and skill, not ownership of content.

The public beta is ending soon, and as we get closer to the Community Update, it's time to recap everything coming to the game!
Today, we'll present the new additions and the rework of the combat system—ranging from the military path to some more specific changes.

Remaking the power triangle


The main change in the update is a rework of the “power triangle” between the different military units. Depending on your playstyle and chosen game mode, you might notice it less—but there’s no denying that many of you rely solely on warriors, and we decided it was time to address that.

With numerous changes (detailed in the patch notes at release), we've made multi-unit armies viable again. Bonuses for one unit type are now shared across all fighters. This applies to camps and relics as well, making specialized military units even stronger in their respective roles.

Other mechanical changes


These changes affect all clans, and for that reason, many tweaks have been made to maintain balance across all factions. While some required only minor adjustments (like Ox warriors keeping their charge), here are the three most important ones:

A new Legion
The Legion path has been completely reworked in response to your feedback. It’s now designed to support the creation and evolution of a versatile, multi-unit army more effectively. Here’s the new version:

Lvl 1 (50xp)

Since the clan has its own unique units, it also needed a dedicated military path. For that reason, a unique progression has been created for Surtr and his followers.
This military path allows you to tailor your experience with specific choices that best align with your playstyle.

Kingdom forge
To balance the changes affecting the Northern clans, the Southern Kingdoms are also receiving new features, including a new military upgrade to unlock:


When landing a hit, this unit has a chance to reduce Defense and Projectile Resistance its target for 2 seconds

Some changes for the Dragon clan, Kingdom and legion this week, let us know what you think about them!
We see your proposition to create a specific military path for the Kingdom, it can be a solution but we're running out of time to test this for this patch. We hope the new changes on legion will fit better with the kingdom clan.

Global Change


Military path
Legion
Some bonuses of the path weren't really easy to use for most of the clans. The second bonus was indeed the same as the first one and asked too many conditions to be really interesting and optimised. It also didn’t fit well with Kingdom clans. The third bonus was too weak in comparison with other bonuses.
  • 2nd level → 500 xp
    • Supply Malus is decreased by 10% for each unit kind in a zone (max 50%)
  • 3rd level → 1500 xp
    • Increase the shared bonuses to upgraded military building by 50%
      • Kingdom will share 50%, Viking 100%
Others
  • Shared bonuses on viking upgraded military building give 50% to other unit instead of 100%
  • Kingdom break armor extension : 30% chance to trigger instead of 20%, 20% break armor instead of 15%


Clan of the dragon


Military path
  • 2nd level → 500 xp choose between

    • Draconics unit with a forged weapon gain 10% move speed
    • Whirlwind forge gain 50% more range instead of 10% more chance to trigger
  • 4th level → 2000 xp choose between

    • Draconic Nightmares absorb 30% of damage done to Dragonkin (without triggering all forge of all Draconic Nightmares)
    • Whirlwind deal 80% of damage instead of 100%

  • Thrall cost formula : Cost increase for a fixed amount and price decrease by 15% each month
Knowledge
  • Draconic Rage : Allow all Draconic units on the same tile as Surtr to capture units. Captured unit have a chance to be a converted into a Dragonkin if there is place in the Warband
