Norman's Night In came out 1 YEAR AGO!
It's crazy to think how far this little game has brought us. Our first big recognition was way back in 2016 when we had nothing but a novel idea and a few broken levels. Disheveled and sleepless, we glued together what we could, taped the rest, and miraculously won a nomination for Best Game at the first ever Google Play Indie Game Festival. We were absolutely thrilled and doubled down on making the best game we could.



Fast forward almost 4 years, just as disheveled and sleepless and launching our very first game as a 2-man studio! We look back with a lot of dang pride for the not-so-little game we built. Hand-painted/animated everything, 35+ interconnected Metroidvania levels, sprawling and ever-changing world. It was the hardest project we've made and something that we hold a lot of pride in. 

To everyone who has supported us along the way, for the hundreds of messages, the fanart, and enthusiasm for Norman's Night In, we thank you. You have truly made this experience special for us.

Watching people play and enjoy our game is, without question, the coolest part of what we do. Having a stage as big as PAX East is humbling to say the least. We were honored to showcase with the Indie MEGABOOTH for a second time.

Hello!

Nick here. Just wanted to give you an update on development and the status of release. We ran into some unexpected stability issues last week. Problems that, despite our best efforts, late nights, and eager spirits, persisted and have yet to be resolved. We would absolutely love to get Norman's Night In into your hands and share the thing we've been working so passionately on. Unfortunately, stability of the build isn't up to the level of quality we expect from ourselves. The game is so close and it absolutely breaks our hearts, but we'll be delaying the launch of Norman's Night In.

We'll have more information for you shortly including a new release date--don't worry, it will be very soon! In the meantime, we're working on getting a demo of the game up on Steam that you can play until the full launch. Look forward to that early next week.

Thank you for all for the support. Our sincere apologies for those as excited as we are for Norman's Night In; we're working to make it the highest quality we possibly can.

Hello!

Nick here. I just wanted to send you a quick note and share some release news with you.

As some of you may have seen, earlier this week, Apple announced big changes to the app store coming September 19th, one day after our September 18th launch. It was difficult news to process because of how much of an impact it will have on our release.

As a self-publishing team of 2, getting press, being featured on various store fronts, and word of mouth are some of our best tools for a successful launch. Launching one day before such a large change undercuts the potential coverage and feature opportunities we have. With iOS being such a big market for us, we’ve decided to push the release a couple weeks and hope for less turbulent waters.

Norman’s Night In will be available October 2, 2019 on Steam, Google Play, and the App Store!

It was a difficult decision to make, but we’re optimistic! We’ve put so much time and love into this game; after almost 4 years of development, what’s another 2 weeks. If anyone asks, tell them we’re giving Apple some room to breathe--we’d hate to overshadow them on their big day :)

Regarding development, things are going really well! I’ll follow up with more specifics in a future post, but suffice to say, PAX West was awesome, the game is in a great place, and we’re excited to have you play it.

This is an exciting and stressful time of development for the two of us. It’s been a long 3 ½ years of development but it’s paying off in ways we couldn’t have imagined at the start. We’re very proud of the game we’ve made and can’t wait to get it in the hands of everyone who has supported us over the years. :)

Self-publishing is a challenge we’ve been confident in tackling from the start, but it means we have to lean hard on our incredible supporters. If you can Like and Share our trailer, that would mean a great deal to us :)

We're back from PAX East 2019
And have been for a little while now :)

As a brief recap: The folks at Penny Arcade were gracious enough to select Norman's Night In as PAX East 2019 Indie Showcase Winners. We were lucky enough to be 1 of 4 awesome indie games chosen to showcase, and saying that still feels weird!

The 2 of us have been developing Norman's Night In for more than 3 years, and watching people (700+ in 4 days!!) play, enjoy, laugh, and share the thing we've worked so hard to make is flippin magical.



With PAX East complete and our sleep schedules wrangled back to normalcy, we're excited to be heads-down on finishing Norman's Night In.

DEV UPDATE!
Over the last month, we've extended our playable platforms and now have NNI running smoothly on PC, Android, and iOS! We also added fancy new controller support, which might be my favorite update this month. We've also been adding final art throughout the game including brand new levels that we'll be BETA testing in the near future.

We're very happy with how development is going! Things are coming together, Norman's Night In is starting to look shiny thanks to the vigorous polish we're applying, and people are being nice to us on the internet. Onwards to profit so we can keep doing this awesome thing we're passionate about (and finally feed our physical bodies)!
