How are you feeling today? Relatively untroubled by visions of squirming, organic gunk clogging your vessel's exhaust ports as you fall steadily toward an enormous ball of fire? We'll see about that.

I'm here to tell you about Ultrasound, in which you are stranded aboard a spacecraft that has been colonised by growths of the Gigery persuasion. If you don't purge critical systems pronto, you're going to end up the wrong side of a photosphere. Here's a trailer.

Yee-haw. Excuse me, I meant to say that wild west soulslike metroidvania Tombwater has walked into the saloon and ordered a release date. 'I'll have November 12th, 2025', it growled, while flashing its big iron at everyone in the watering hole to show it meant business.

Originally roaming the plains of Itch.io, this funky-looking game comes from Max Mraz, developer of Ocean's Heart and Bloodborne tribute Yarntown, and Jake Wagner. The duo have trained their six-shooters on Steam, where you can already find a demo to check out.

It’s never too late to get mad about the untimely fate of Human Head Studios’ Prey 2. It helps that people keep leaking videos of the thing. The latest batch includes an opening sequence, a full mission playthrough from an open world, a flythrough of an undercity area, a prototype chase sequence, and scenes of combat. Watch the bulk of them below, and grieve. Alas for Killian Samuels, the beanie-wearing US marshal turned alien bounty-hunter. He looked so humdrum back in 2012, especially when compared to the original 2006 game’s Cherokee protagonist Domasi "Tommy" Tawodi. Still, he has a certain tragic charisma, in hindsight.

Right, where in the name of disposable infantry were you? Yes, I'm talking to you, Helldivers 2 hive lords, added into the shooter as part of yesterday's Into the Unjust update with what looks like nary a patch note peep from Arrowhead. Why didn't you unleash your big worminess on me when I dropped onto some Terminid hive worlds last night?

You missed out. I'm an easy target. Dressed head to toe in bright yellow Helldiver armour, because it's always best to be highly visible on the battlefield. Armed with the trigger finger prowess of a sleeping librarian. Sometimes alone because no one's answered my SOS beacon yet. I was right fugging there>.

I’ll say this for Valor Mortis, One More Level’s first-person, sabre-swishing soulslike wherein Napoleon Bonaparte’s men mysteriously become abominations of melted undead meat: the Ghostrunner devs are probably the team for the job. While that series is all about cyberpunk katanas and zippy wallrunning, its punishing, trial-and-error combat should resonate with anyone who spends most of their time respawning at campfires. I’ll also> say this for Valor Mortis: I’ve played it, and would like to play more.

Shams Jorjani, boss of Helldivers 2 developers Arrowhead, has taken to Discord to address the rise in reports of performance issues following the arrival of the shooter's Into the Unjust update. In addition to admitting that the new addition has missed the mark from a stability pespective, the exec added that the game's Xbox release now being in the rear view mirror should free up more resources to tackle performance problems.

Since the Terminid spelunking expedition-themed update arrived yesterday, players have cited an uptick in crashes that Arrowhead are already looking into, with the installation size the game's ballooned to on PC and your usual sorts of pesky bugs also being sources of ire, at least among vocal online Helldivers.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the debut fantasy RPG from new Polish developer Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former members of Witcher outfit CD Projekt. In June, obvious vampire thrall Mark expressed happy emotions about main character Coen's balance of mortal and undead abilities - by day, he'll trot around having regular human chinwags with people and participating in regular human swordfights, by night he transmogrifies into a nimble Nosferatu, able to teleport and slash people with his talons. Now, it's time to dig further into the game's two critical resources, which are handily encapsulated by the title: time and blood.

The Perfect Dark reboot Microsoft cancelled as part of their mass layoffs in July could reportedly have been "revived" under new publisher Take-Two, had talks over a deal between the two sides and Embracer Group not fallen through.

That's according to a report from Bloomberg, who claim that Microsoft and Take-Two's failure to reach an agreement is what preceded the unspecified number of layoffs at Crystal Dynamics last week. It'd be nice if we lived in a world where bigwigs shaking hands wasn't sometimes a thing workers have to pin their hopes of retaining their livelihoods on.
