Mileena, Rambo, and Rain in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

Growing stronger, tougher, and more murderously deranged with each appearance, John Rambo will continue his ascent to godhood by joining the spine-ripping fights of Mortal Kombat 11. John Rambo, the Vietnam War veteran with PTSD who just wanted to be left alone, will join the war between gods and dimensions as one of the next DLC characters. This new character pack will also be rolled into the newly-announced Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate edition, with all the other DLC.

Alongside its Aftermath expansion next week, Mortal Kombat 11 is getting something a lot snugglier. Friendships are koming back to offset all the killing by way of selfies, xylophones, sand castles, and motorcycles. You know, friend stuff. The friendship finishers are coming as a free update for MK11 next week but NetherRealm are showing off a peek at them in a new trailer today.

After a year of DLC characters, Mortal Kombat 11 is getting an actual story expansion, named Aftermath. Koming this month, it will kontinue the tale of Liu Kang while adding a few kharacters: Fujin, Sheeva, and… RoboCop? And they’ve actually got the face and voice of Peter Weller for RoboCop? I’d buy that for a dollar. While the expansion will cost kash, a free update launching alongside it will add new stages and also bring back back those kute ‘n’ kuddly Friendship finishing moves.

Mortal Kombat 11 has a pretty big roster if you don’t include the unlockable Frost and preorder bonus that is Shao Kahn. However, there is a Kombat Pass available for the game and NetherRealm Studios has revealed which familiar faces you’ll see out of six additional characters that you’ll be able to play as later this year. A few days before EVO 2019, we got a bigger look at Nightwolf, including his release date.

With the first character of the Kombat Pass now available, it seems there’s some confusion around Mortal Kombat 11’s Krypt and its wealth of unlockables. We aim to set the record straight with some new details on the DLC characters, as well as give you some tips for unlocking stuff in the Krypt, even after numerous patches. Yet there are ways if you know how, that you can unlock the multiple different locations, heart chests, and even the head spikes.

[cms-block]If you want to get some hearts there are a few ways that you can do it. You can either go to our [cms-block] guide to learn more about how to quickly obtain them.

Oh and there’s also a bit more stuff in the Kombat Pass besides new characters.

Finally, there’s also our [cms-block] and [cms-block] for all those nasty finishers.

Whether it was purely stylistic or intended to make the game behave better on older consoles, a lot of people found Mortal Kombat 11‘s halved framerate during cinematic attacks distracting. Previously only available via mods, today NetherRealm Studios patched in an official set of 60fps options today for menus, cinematics (including fatalities) and the Krypt. They do warn that the Krypt toggle is only for truly high-end PCs. Below, for illustration’s sake, a comparison video letting you see the two framerates side by side, albeit captured using the unofficial 60fps mod.

Mortal Kombat 11 has one major flaw at the time of writing.:Unlocking stuff in the Krypt is going to take aeons because there’s a long time to invest in farming resources. There are three resources that you can obtain, but there’s no easy way to get them all quickly. There are ways to mitigate this rather time-consuming process and we will be going over all of the best ways to do this.

Let’s face it, the main reason that most people play Mortal Kombat 11 will be the finishing moves. Fatalities have been a staple since the original Mortal Kombat and have ranged from the simple and effective, to darkly comedic. Some are stinkers, some are spectacles. The codes for the second fatalities for each character are hidden away in the Krypt, but we’ve got all the combinations you need right here and you don’t need to unlock them first.

In the second chapter of Mortal Kombat 11, it’s reasonable to believe the world is going to end. Beloved characters have died. Long-slain demigods are rising from their graves. The fabric of time itself is breaking down, and the greatest problem faced by Johnny Cage in this moment is that his unrepentant asshole of a younger self won’t take his feet off the table.

It s a small portion of a larger scene, an emotive moment of frustration while discussing the fate of the world, but it goes a long way towards expressing why I love the writing in NetherRealm s most recent fighting games, despite the unfortunate work conditions they were produced under. Among just generally good storytelling, the studio s writers seem to focus on a larger idea. In epic struggles of good and evil; light and dark; cool ninjas and other, slightly more edgy ninjas; NetherRealm s writers remember the most important conflicts of all are personal.
