Hi Martians!

We’ve been on an incredible journey since we launched back in early 2020, thanks to you, our incredible community.

However, after 4 years, we have taken the difficult decision to sunset Memories of Mars, closing down online multiplayer servers on June 25th, 2024.

In addition, Memories of Mars will no longer be available for purchase on all platforms, effective immediately.

Players who have purchased the game on or after April 24th, 2024 will be eligible for a refund. More information can be found here: https://505.games/MOMSunset

For some of you this news may not be a huge surprise, but we also understand for those still playing, this won’t be the update you wanted to hear.

We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for your support over the years. It means more than you know!

Take care,
The Memories of Mars team

Hello Martians,

We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but today's PC patch went very sideways and caused all running servers, including console servers to not save progress anymore after 14:30. We are trying to figure out how this happened and will give you guys an update as soon as we know what's up.

We will also give everyone who lost progress a generous gift package as compensation to help get you back on track. That will be handed out later this week.

Thank you and very sorry this happened.

Please take care of yourselves during the next weeks as well!

Hello Martians!

We have another patch for you to fix many of the bugs you reported recently. Find the changes below:

- Fix for "elevator loot bug". if you die on an elevator, your loot container should spawn correctly now.
- Smaller UI + controller fixes
- Private Servers will now store their database in a different path than before. All old savegames should be moved to the new location automatically, no further action required. If you see any issues with that, please let us know and we can help you. More information about this will be found in the next version of the Handbook, which we plan to make available very soon.
- Fix for loot trackers showing location in the volcano area without a way to dig them up. Unfortunately this will not yet fix already broken trackers, only prevent from trackers getting broken in the first place. We are working on a fix for existing trackers.
- Button to flip building parts can now be rebound to a different key
- Added option to disable the laser dot
- Customization of the building applies to the whole building again when the server is restarted
- Fixed "Set to Default" for "Swap Items on Drop"
- Fixed rocks having metal sounds when walking on them
- Updated structure health modifier icon
- Fix for loot trackers or meteors spawning outside of world bounds
- Added admin tools button to the in game menu on private servers
- Added hotkey to navigate to related skilltree for locked recipes
- Fixed bug where projectiles weren't always properly customized
- Fixed building hp modifier bug
- The admin tools UI now closes properly

Currently known issues we are working on for the next patch:
- AI become invincible when shot from long range - work-around is to kill them via melee hits.
- AI can suddenly despawn in the middle of a battle.
- Still some issues with private server connections and visibility in server browser. We are on it!
- As said above: already broken existing loot trackers will not yet be fixed by this patch, but will be fixed in the next patch. Keep them in cold storage until then :)

Small heads up: Due to work required for the console launch tomorrow, it might be that we are slightly less responsive. Please be patient if we do not immediately respond to you, we will try to catch up with everyone as soon as we can! Thanks for understanding.

Hello Martians!

We are pushing a small hotfix/patch live. Changes are as follows:

- Fix for the server crash pestering the live servers the whole weekend
- Fix for most if not all private server crashes. If we missed any, please let us know and we will take care of them for the next patch. If you are confused by the many error messages on server start: those are expected and can be ignored. They don't change the behaviour of the server and are debug messages accidentally left in the build.
- Improved Mech VFX
- Improved Mech AI
- Small changes on loot distribution
- Fixed minor UI issues
- Fixed some map issues
- Fixed jetpack sound being played when vaulting through windows
- Fixed not being able to register a Stasis Chamber built on triangular foundations.
- Made some UI elements more clear and fixed localization issues.
-> For example: We changed the controls for rotating building parts. You can press the E button (melee button) to flip the current building part downwards and upwards, while the mouse wheel is only rotating on one axis anymore. Please check the key prompts in the lower left of the screen while in building mode!
We will improve upon this in the next patch by making this button assignable for different keybindings.
- Customized armor is now correctly displayed in the UI
- Fix for an exploit: You can no longer build building parts you don't have the skill for!
- Fix for an exploit: camera can no longer fly around while character is spawning from stasis chamber!

Known issues:
- We are close to have a fix for the "elevator backpack bug", we just want to give it more testing before pushing it live to make sure we don't break something else.
- We are still trying to find a fix for the broken loot trackers, but are getting close as well.
- We are also investigating the issue of building customization only saving the first 64 parts.

We are aware of more bugs of course, but above should be part of the next patch already.

Additional Info:
- Explosive Compounds and Deuterium now need an additional or different resource to craft. So if you are having trouble, you should try some other combinations. Just some *fuel* for thought ;)
- Thanks to everyone who uses the new ingame report feature! We are getting a lot of nice bug reports and ideas from you through it and could already fix a lot of smaller issues due to them. Keep 'em coming!
- In case you missed the announcement a few weeks ago: We performed a full server wipe for the major patch on the 5th last week. So if you are missing your savegames, this is expected and not a bug! There are no further wipes planned at this moment and we will take care to announce it more obvious in the future as well, to make sure everyone is aware of what's happening.

Hello Martians!

Here is the changelog for the major patch we will push live during the day. Currently we plan on having the servers back up around 13:00 to 14:00 UTC, but due to the gigantic amount of code changes (more than 3000 changes since the last patch) we can't 100% guarantee it yet. We started early by shutting down the existing servers already and get a head-start to mitigate all potential issues.

We will keep you updated on the progress during the day. But for now, have the highlights of the patch with the full changelog further below. Keep in mind that this is mainly a polishing patch to get the game ready to leave Early Access and secure the console release, not a patch to introduce large amounts of new content. We have more content in the works for future patches, though ;)

Highlights:

- Most importantly: Adjusted night-time brightness ;)

- Full controller support for the entire game and UI
- Implemented a "Report" feature. You can use it to report other players, buildings, bugs, etc.
- Added new voice overs to the game to tell the story of the clones.
- Implemented a player list.
- Big re-balance of enemies, including new variations.
- Big re-balance of recipes.
- Big re-balance of loot distribution.
- New VFX and SFX for enemies, spaceship and weapons!
- You can now cancel the loading screen to get back to the main menu in case it takes too long.
- The last visited server name is now shown beside the continue button.
- Added some new secret weapons and tools.
- First bunch of improvements for Private Servers: Playing locally on your own machine or with friends in your LAN should work without additional arguments again. Please read the new handbook instructions carefully!

Rest of changes:

- Fix for the "spawn undead" bug, finally!
- Many adjustments to Bloom effect levels in the game
- General VFX improvements
- Polished the main menu
- Mech doesn't walk out of crater anymore
- Blocking volumes for critical areas like the dungeon
- Meteor blocking improvements
- New projectile trails
- Multiple client crashfixes
- Multiple server crashfixes
- Ingame map polishing
- optimizations of post process materials
- small map adjustments like moving a lore entry to a less dangerous location
- voice chat improvements/fixes
- achievement fixes
- protocol fixes
- localization fixes
- spaceship improvements
- exploit fixes (like building harvesting device outside of ice area)
- Added simple CameraShake to spaceship
- Updated skilltree tab to show flops/survival points when skilltrees are focused
- Supply Tracker can now be seen again when held (it was quite dark)

- Track Deployable Devices' owner and display it along with other info such as health, description, etc.
- Added missing wieldable action prompts.
- Fixing landscape hole issue.
- Fixing a player got stuck issue in mountain 2 area.
- Increased projectile impact energy for better physics "oomph".
- Several fixes for the modify weapon and load weapon modes.
- Fix for holograms being affected by a buildings default customization.
- Fix for being able to navigate out of the in game menu to the respawn UI below it.
- Fix for "Remove all markers" being available if the PDA was closed previously while it was selected.
- Fix for disappearing patterns after unlocking a pattern and then reopening the pattern UI.
- Fix for deployables not being deployable in active PvP areas.
- The split stack UI can now be closed without closing the PDA immediately after.
- Added a capacity threshold indicator to the HUD.
- Unstuck Improvements: StuckInGeometry check now independent of time.
- Fix for tooltips not disappearing after using the split stack UI and then closing the PDA.
- Reduced opacity of unavailable building recipes.
- Fixed bug where pinned protocols were not getting unpinned upon completion.
- Fix for the PDA preview panel not getting reset correctly when switching between tabs.
- Made Loot All action much faster (~50x in the measured case) and also fixed another huge hitch when dropping items with drag/drop using the mouse.
- Adjustments to Alliance permissions and promotions:
- A member with any kind of permission cannot act on ranks or player of a rank that is not below their own
- Add rank and edit rank name is only permitted to the leader, hence the button to add was removed from roster of all other members
- Increased FLOPs amount for PvP events.
- Increased maximum stack sizes of ammunition items.
- Adjusted wieldable light sources and tool durability.
- Implemented region notification widget.

- Increased spawn range of the mech.

- Decreased damage of toxic acid puddle.
- Increased HP of elite AI.
- Increased deuterium looted from drones.
- Decreased weight of resources.
- Increased FLOPs rewards for protocols.
- Fix of spawning from stasis chamber having placed something in font of it
- Reduced crafting time of growing recipe(s).

Immediate Known Issues:

- Dying on an elevator will not spawn the loot container for your own player. A workaround is to log out and back in and it should spawn for you most of the times.
- Some error messages disappear too fast to be able to read them.
- Private Servers will also get a second update for public-facing servers (playing with friends over the internet instead of locally)

Fixes for the above are already in the works and will be part of one of the next patches.
If you find any more issues, please let us know as usual, so we can fix them.

Thank you and all the best,
The Dev Team
